T is for Tags at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Another two weeks has flown by and the weather has gone from Winter to summer and now we are having spring, so nice to have comfortable temperatures.

Here is Edna to announce our newest challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Wow so many tags Edna is sporting on her dress.

Here is what I finally came up with for the challenge. sadly it is a "snarkless" project.

I am not sure why I went this route for my tag, it never occured to look up one of my AI beauties or a Stella digi from my computer but I did take myself way out of my comfort zone. Yellow/orange combo is not a favourite and I really don't do mixed media but I blended the oxide inks, added a few bubble from a stencil flicked water on it before I added the wild flower die cuts and the Smile die cut which I cut 3 times to pop it up.

closer look at the sentiment and you can see the stencil bubbles.

I used my TH tag sizzix die to make the tag.

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019 ~~ Day 13

I didn't get time to make a tag for Saturday ~~ Day 13 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags as I was on a road trip with a group of ladies celebrating Christmas in Vittoria which we visit local stores and shop the local artisans wares, and of course ending with a late lunch at a favourite restaurant.  So I have done Sunday's tag and working backward to make the catch up tags.

I can't believe I remembered I had lilac and blue patterned paper, it's from way back in my stash when Dollarama was carrying packages of paper, probably 8 to 10 years, and I found it.  Snow was cut with an Elizabeth Craft Designs die  Let It Snow. the let it is separate stamp... The snowflake is also EC designs and I used glitter cardstock and coloured it with alcohol markers as was the rhinestone.

Sorry for the out of focus picture but I didn't realized how much one cat can shake the table you are using for your photo corner, but it shows the glittery snowflake. (and I was too much in a hurry to take another photo.)

Here is the Day 13 tag by Lisa that I was inspired by.

Thanks again for looking, and as I said I'm playing catch up today so I can start fresh on Monday.

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019 ~~ Day 2

It's Day 2 at the 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019  the sponsor for today is Ellen Hudson.  For my inspiration I chose a tag made by one of their design team members, Michelle Ferguson. Her tag was adorable and lots of different elements that I didn't use, second layer, sentiment and wobbles. My trials from yesterday (Toto) continued this afternoon when I sat down to craft but perseverance was the name of the game as I took her off the table, secretary, desk, and any other item she could get attention from. Now that my project is finished she is "regenerating" on the bed. So here is my finished tag.

I didn't have any cute "French Hens" but I had an adorable penguin from a Stampin'up set I bought at a yardsale a couple of summers ago, it is called SnowPlace and has 22 stamps, snowmen and penguin and accessories.

Close up of the cute critters
and now the tag that was my inspiration

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2019 ~~ Day 1

Woo Hoo I have the first tag done for the 25 days of Christmas Tags challenge , I played along  or rather was "pushed" along by Lindsey a couple of years ago and it was fun, I'm hoping to find time to keep up this year. Of all the tags for inspiration I chose Lindsey's tag, you will find it HERE

I used Joyful Christmas set from Stampin'up I used Egyptian Gold embossing powder on velum, added some Starform red/gold dots to the center (covering up the adhesive) Cut the oval and embossed twice with the Egyptian gold embossing powder cut with a smaller circle and glued it to an oval base, added a pop of colour with the sentiment and attached a red ribbon with a gold cord.

Happy New Year, Welcome to the First Challenge of 2018 at Shopping Our Stash

It's January 2, 2018 and welcome to the first challenge of the new year!!! Challenge 335 at Shopping Our Stash it's Watercolour. I must admit due to a back spasm I haven't been able to sit long enough to do much crafting and watercolour is definitely not my forte'. I tried several ideas which none worked to my satisfaction and just when I was throwing in the "towel" I remembered some 2004 watercolour flower stamps from Hero Arts. I believe I have 5 stamps all can be used by colouring with markers, spritzing with water and stamping. Here is the tag I made with the "real paintbrush" stamp.

I used watercolour paper and framed the image with a scrap of plaid paper that was in the pile on the table, leftover from one of the last Christmas cards

I used distress markers for the flower and the blue wash background.

It was fun to dig out the 14 year old stamps and play with a technique I haven't done in eons, I might just pick one of the other stamps and try another project.

Thanks for visiting today and I'm sure you have a much more interesting watercolour technique than I came up with, so head over to the Main Blog and check out the rest of the design team inspiration pieces.

Challenge #333 ~~ Tag You're It!!!

At Shopping Our Stash challenge #333 is Tag You're It ~~ make a tag either by itself or on a card.  That's a much simpler idea than I had which was to alter a bag and make a matching tag. I'm happy with the end results. The tag I made will certainly look great on a card if I need to get one made in a hurry, that's what great about having tags laying around.

Here is the matching tag and bag. I used a set of patterned poinsettia petals, three sizes in red foil posterboard and the larges petal in green foil posterboard (bought at the dollar tree) the flower centers are from Lana in Saskatchewan.

Closer look at the bag. The Merry Christmas is from Gina Marie Designs, the intertwined circles are a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs, three sizes and a snowflake in the package. the glitter red dots are from Starform (these are over a year old never opened)

Lastly the Tag, using the same die cuts as the bag with the exception of the Noel which is a Elizabeth Craft Designs die and it's probably over 2 years old.  The tag is also a die I purchased from Lana and it is new but never been used before. I took the large and next size tag die and made a frame with the red posterboard layered that on a white shimmer paper tag.

Closer look at the  flowers and flower centers.

Lastly a close up of the beautiful Gina Marie designs Merry Christmas.

There you have my Tag You're it project and although you do not have to alter a bag to enter the challenge just make a tag or a card with a tag on it and  join us at Shopping Our Stash.

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017 ~~ Day 6

Almost caught up!!! Day 7 is going to take some deep thinking on my part. Day 6 I chose a super cute snowflake adorned tag in pale turquoise and teal by Jen Carter.

I have banner dies but they don't have a round end so I used an oval die to make the round part. The background die is an unbranded die, the merry is from a set I think Hero Arts. Of course I've always been sequin challenged but it was fun having directions on how to place them. The gold snowflakes are from Impression Obsession

Here is Jen's Tag.

Now the close-up

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017 ~~ Day 4

I'm only a day behind with my tags now, it will be easier when I have all my equipment at home,  We had to travel home on Saturday because a bag of stuff was overlooked when we packed and one of the cat's meds were in it (duh) it was a nice drive and because I saw Day 4 I packed a couple of Snag'em Stamps in the bag. One was a pair of mittens.

I used one of the smallest tags from the package of 12 I bought at the Dollar Stop in Simcoe Ontario. I just stamped the mittens on a scrap of blue and the blue twine was taken from a bow on a button that didn't work for a project. Wow talk about using up stuff!!! since my sequins are (you know where) I used some silver/transparent glitter sticker dots from Starform.

The Day 4 tag I chose to use for my inspiration is Jeanne Jachna

Jeanne Jachna's Day 4 tag.

Close up, I added stickles to the mitts and a blue gem to the snowflake and I used a Stitched 8 die to cut the loop for the tag.

Thanks for visiting again so soon and check out the day 4 tags they are awesome.

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017 ~~ Day 3

I'm a bit behind with my "days" Friday was an unusually busy day and we left for the cottage early evening, this weekend is last until spring. For us it's an extra weekend as we are closing it for the winter. Once home I will have all my craft supplies in one place and not have to wonder where something is. Tracy Neely at In My Creative Opinion is hosting 25 days of Christmas Tags 2017 and although I'm playing catch up it's ok, you too can jump in at any time just check out the rules HERE

There were so many to choose from but I chose Kelly Griglione's tag. Now I have a sleigh die from Marianne Creatables but of course took it home last weekend (story of my creating) but I had a white shiny sleigh but the copic marker wouldn't colour it so I did the next best thing and reversed the colours. Here is Kelly's tag.
Adorable tag love the striped ribbon.

The holly leaves are a die cut and I have no idea who's it is or where I got it from but for some reason it was here at the cottage in a box. For the berries I used glitter stickers from Starform in red/gold.

Entering this in

Thanks for visiting today and if you want to get ahead with tags for Christmas please join in the fun and you can just start where ever you want as long as you mark your card with the proper day.

It's Challenge Time at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers ~~ M is for Mixed Media

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers wants you to get inky and show us some Mixed Media. I must mention I am not at all into mixed media like the rest of the design team, their projects are fabulous but I did some (a lot) of surfing of techniques and mixed media and settled on making a tag, I figured I couldn't mess something that small up and I didn't.
First I cut two tags with the Tim Holtz tag die and unwrapped the dylusions sprays I bought around the end of the year, I have turquoise and purple two of my favourite colours. I then spritzed the tag with water then the dylusions sprays, mopped up the over spray with the tag then gave it a shot of simmer spray. With that said...her is my tag.

Once the tag dried I dug a few odd stamps out, french script, the art of life and Take time and sort of stamped not so randomly. I have only used stencils once so I dug out the message wreath from Hero Arts and pondered, what if I mess this part up I will have to start over, but I manage to use the dauber and purple distress ink and was pleased with the outcome. To finish it off I added some metal dots and a butterfly.

Close up of the butterfly

I love this stamp from Stampabilities.

I am sure this won't be the last time I attempt Mixed Media, I have a small canvas I would like to try something on but that means more surfing and stressing, but I hope a lot of fun.

Thanks for stopping by today and check out the SoSS Blog and see what awesome project the rest of the design team have done.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers New Challenge ~~ F is for Fart!!!

Yes you read that right, F is for Fart and I'm sure you are not surprised LOL. I was totally blank when I saw this challenge in the files at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers I had not a clue what to do for this theme. I was ready to ask for a pass on the challenge until one day I was making candy dots out of pony beads and tried one that had metallic paint on it and it melted really odd, was all crinkly and just a lump. Of course having a conversation with DD (dear daughter) she came up with the saying and I was off and running. I guess it is time for you to see what that saying was and how I made my project.

I made a tag with TH tag die, typed the sentiment on the computer cut the words out, "doodled" on them dang, I really don't doodle well. added the one and only black pony bead dot I had and used a Hershey kiss stamp for the little pile of sh*t in the lower corner.

Close up of the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today and get your thinking caps on and let's see what you can come up with for F is for Fart.

Happy New Year!!!

Oh my goodness where on earth did 2014 go to? The days and weeks and months seemed to fly by. I hope all of you had an awesome Christmas and a wonderful New Year’s Eve and day!!! We were lucky today as we were invited to a friend’s house for New Year’s dinner and it was so delish, It’s always great when I don’t have to cook and the best part I didn’t have to do dishes either.  When invited to dinner I think we should take a bottle of wine, I have seen quite a few people making tags for the wine bottles and thought they were awesome. I used a tag I had made in October HERE is where you will find the original post with the tag on it. I just added a backing for it and punched the hole for the neck of the bottle.
IMG_2568
I cut the purple cardstock 3 1/2 X 8 1/2 and scored it at  2 1/2 inches and punched the hole with a 1 1/4 circle punch, I did round a few of the corners .If I was making the tag from scratch I would have made it a little narrower, the original measurements were 2 3/4 inches wide.
IMG_2569
Here is the tag off the wine bottle, I knew that tag would come in handy some day.
Thanks for stopping by today and may 2015 be wonderful.

Anything Goes with Fall Colours Challenge…week 2

Challenge #98 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad continues, the weather is getting cooler here and our leaves on on their last days of being beautiful so we would like to see some beautiful fall colours in your projects. My Heart Pieces at Stitchy Bear outlet is the sponsor for the challenge.  The outlet has been fabulous giving the design team images to play with, so don’t forget to have a look at what they have to offer. For the second week I have made another tag with cute sunflowers in a pot, they have sweet faces as done the cute bee.
IMG_2399
Again I coloured with alcohol markers, A friend gave me a few cut tags (mine makes smaller tags) so I used one as a base for my image, added some fibres and a  “For You”  tag.
Thanks for joining me here today and have a marvellous  week.

Challenge #98 Anything Goes….With Fall Colours!!!

The first week of challenge #98 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad is a favourite type challenge but this one is with a twist, it’s anything goes but with Fall colours, those nice rich reds, yellows, oranges and a bit of brown and green thrown in. The sponsor for this challenge is My Heart Pieces at Stitchy Bear digital outlet. I decided to make a gift tag which would be perfect for a holiday visit gift of a bottle of wine. Have a look to see what I’ve done for the challenge.
IMG_2398
I had a purchased tag on my table and used it for a base for the image, I shortened it and rounded the bottom corners. Added a reinforcement I found in the stationary drawer. The image was coloured with a combination of alcohol markers and I added some rhinestones.  My brown marker was running out, but I like the look of the barrel.
Thanks for stopping by today and stop over at the blog and check out what the rest of the design team has made with their images.

New Monday challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

Oh my goodness two weeks are gone again, and where did they go? These days are just moving way too fast for me, I want to enjoy the Fall season for a long time. Winter is way too long here in SW Ontario
If you haven’t been to The Cheerful Stamp Pad blog yet don’t forget to head over there and see what the other members of the team have done..Our sponsor for challenge #70 is Lunagirl and the theme is “TAGS”.
IMG_1756
Like every Friday I am rushing to get ready to go to the cottage and being the great procrastinator I am, I left printing my image until last minute. Can you imagine my surprise when without warning I was out of colour ink in the printer. It did print the pictures but they were in a sad state of different colours. I picked the best one that was sort of shades of blue and coloured it with my spica glitter pens. I was so happy when it was finished  and really looked good.
Supplies
Image…. Lunagirl  awesome digis you have to check them out.
Cardstock…GP white, wisteria wonder, patterned paper from $ store
Accessories… Spellbinders small long rectangles, Sizzix tag die, pearls, lace.

Second Week of the Make a Tag Challenge……

This is the second week of the make a tag challenge at The Cheerful Stamp pad and the sponsor is McMahon five designs. my printed papers, my image and the sentiment are all from the sponsor. I used my Tim Holtz Tag and bookplates die and a sizzix scalloped tag die for the two tags. I trimmed the printed paper tag a bit to show the green layer.
IMG_1718
It was a really long Saturday night here at the cottage, some renters don’t know the meaning of quiet between 11 and 8, at 3 a.m. out came a guitar and the singing began and badly too. I managed to sleep from 4 until 7.30, but by 8 it was guitar playing and singing and I use that term loosely  Thanks for stopping by to look at what I have created and please stop by The Cheerful Stamp Pad to see the rest of the design team's tags. Now off to have a power nap.

The Cheerful Stamp Pad Challenge….A Tag

The challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad is to make a tag and the sponsor is McMahon Five Designs. Head over to the blog and check out the inspiration that the other DT members have done.
The background paper for the tag is from McMahon five  as is the  image and  the sentiment. I knew I wanted to use the sentiment as one of my favourite band is the Beatles, I have a lot of their cds and listen to them when I can (hubby is an Elvis fan).
IMG_1706
I finally used my Tim Holtz movers and shakers Tag and bookplates die and cut the turquoise and the printed paper, I cut the print down as to show the backing. I used the bookplate for the bottom part of the sentiment. I didn’t think to bring fibres with me to use for the “tail” on the tag but had some cotton yarn so I cut lengths and then unravelled it.
Supplies
Image, patterned paper and sentiment….McMahon Five Designs
Cardstock…..Turquoise, Crushed Curry and GP white.
Accessories…..TH Tag & bookplate die, Spellbinders circles, brads
                             Cotton yarn, pop dots
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you can get crafty and make us a TAG.

Yea for the Blue and White

The challenge at Use it Tuesday is to make a project using your stash with the colours of your favourite team. Have a peek at their blog it’s a fabulous site and you don’t have to go out an buy anything new, just use your stash.

I live in South Western Ontario and have always cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team (there are not a lot of us left) and for the Toronto Blue Jays (baseball). There is not a thing on my gift tag that is newer than two years in fact the gold cord was still in the package, (I have red as well) and has to be at least 6 years old, the place I bought it doesn’t exist anymore.  This was a very quick project, I used scraps from making my Christmas cards and largest plain nestability circle but the white base (you can’t see) cut half circles of the two dp attached the ribbon and stamped the phrase with Brilliance Mediterranean blue.
                                Yea Team Blue & Whte.

Thanks for stopping by today and take some well deserved time for yourself.

Penny Black 5th Tag of Christmas

I have a couple of tags to make for gifts both to be delivered after the holidays when I have time to visit.  I have watched the videos and looked at the tags of Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas there were a couple I thought I could improvise on. I embossed in white on shiny paper then sponged Fire Brick distress ink on it. I then pulled out the sizzlets little leaves and punched a few both in green and gold. It was a minor miracle I didn’t scrap the idea as I tried to glue these little babies in a laurel wreath pattern, but I managed. A whisper white taffeta bow to the top, as everyone knows mistakes happen and I punched too large a hole at the top of my “hand made” tag, so I punched two circles adhered them over the larger hole and punched a new one. Then added the red sheer ribbon along with the white taffeta ribbon.  Now to enter this in the “create a tag” challenge I found at Penny Black Saturday I stamped, coloured with Spica glitter pens and cut it out then popped it up on a couple of dimensionals.
                                 Tim Holtz day 5 acrocat
You still have time to enter a tag in the challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge Blog  as they are taking a break until January 7, 2012.  Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my first attempt at a Tim Holtz creation with a twist. I would also like to wish you the Happiest of Christmases and the most prosperous New Year.
