November 15th and Time for a New Challenge at A Tiny Craft (ATC)

November is here and it's getting much colder, brrrr but you expect it when you live in Canada. With Armistice Day just over A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge wanted to honour the Poppy with a challenge.

On the 11th I listened to the service on the radio and heard the Harvard planes do their fly-over

Poppies make beautiful ATCs, I am hoping that my great-grand children will enjoy a sport card holder page with each of my atcs I make for this challenge, so far there has been a monthly theme that co-ordinates with the time of year. Here is what I made for my Poppy ATC.

There is definitely a story here, My plan started out with using a Hero Arts Clear Poppy stamp, but it was not in any of the obvious places, so I decided it's in that "safe" place we all have. Then I found a Poppy embossing folder from Stampin'up, not even sure I have ever used it well 3 attempts with using the folder were a fail. then I went to my 2004 "real flowers" stamps from Hero Arts. I bought them back when I first started stamping.  I then decided to stress myself even more by digging up a technique I have done in eons. Cracked Glass. Layered on black added some gold stickers and called it a day.

Here is a closer look at the cracks, I didn't follow through with the last step of rubbing a dark ink over the image for it to seep into the cracks then buff with a soft cloth, the jury is still out on this step.  There is a great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for the technique.

Another closer look at one of the better "cracked" ATCs. Adding the dark ink would emphasize the cracks better.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the new challenge at A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge and don't forget to head over to the MAIN BLOG and see the gorgeous poppy cards the design team and guest designer have made for your inspiration, then make your own Poppy ATC card or coin for us to ooh and ahh over it.  Remember the fail? one of them was not too sad looking so I might just play around and finish it, so stay tuned.

Pile It On!!!

Last challenge it was Keep it Simple Sister now for this fortnight it's Pile it On at Shopping Our Stash, Ah much better for me I love layers, embossing and bling.

Count them, there are 5 layers plus a base, I didn't want to take away from the poppies so I left the background white but embossed it with Swiss Dots. I have no idea who made this stamp it is a clear mount stamp and all I have is the stamp between two pieces of acetate. There are two stamps, this one and a narrower one. I haven't inked it in many years in fact I can only find one card I have made with this set. If you know the company that makes it please leave the name in the comments, I have searched and came up with 0.  I did some fussy cutting on the top of the large bloom so it fit the oval I wanted to use, layered it on the fancy oval from Spellbinders. The Happy Birthday is from Class A Peel Stickers (Stampendous) and the dots are Stardream red/gold glitter stickers (there are 4 sizes of dots in the package)

Close up, you can see the glitter dots better.

The inside was finished with a Birthday sentiment from Impression Obsession.

Thanks Georgina for letting  me know that the poppies are from Hero Arts.

Creations in Black and White

Back to basic Black and white for a couple of Sympathy cards, I don't usually have sympathy or thinking of you cards on hand as I like to make them personal and these are the 5th and 6th I have had to make in the last little while. The first card I made with a poppy diecut in black on white.

the black poppies are layered on a white shimmer oval (from the "box")  attached to a Spellbinder fancy oval.  the white layer is embossed with a butterfly  folder.

The sentiment is computer generated from a Verse site.

Second card is very similar to one I posted earlier since the papers were still on my table as was the wildflower die cut.

Second card's sentiment is also computer generated from a verse site.

Happy Canada Day!!!

I signed up for a Canada Day Cards blog hop....lots of prizes too at Paper Garden  head over there and look at all the Canada Day cards some bloggers have made and vote for your favourite one too. My idea was to use my Canada Day stamp from High Hopes, I think it's retired now but it wasn't in the drawer with my cling mount stamps or on the stand that holds some too I probably took it to the lake last year and it's still in a box that has not been unpacked. So  went for a second idea and just used red.

I have made an A2 center step card and a poppy stamp I punched 6 maple leaves to add to the sides of the card.
Here is the Canada Day image I used in 2011

I am adding this to Canada Day Cards at Paper Garden

Thanks for visiting on this July 1st holiday and now I would like you to leave a comment (please) and then go to this LINK and VOTE for the card you like (hope it's mine) There are prizes.WooHoo.
