A Stenciling we will Go!!

Hello fellow crafters it's time for the December Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge and it is always  anything goes with an option.

As you see it's optional to use a Stencil, I must admit I am not a stencil person, I have the equipment (although plan "A" required texture paste which was totally hard and not usable) So of course on to plan "B" which was a "fail" next in line was plan "C" also a fail, I gave up for the day I had been working for 2 days on this stencil prompt, so even though I was really late I trudged on, a good night's sleep with ideas roaming around in my dreams I set up for plan "D" and I am happy I just didn't go with the anything goes theme.

As I said earlier I am not particularly fond or good at stenciling but I dug out the winter trees stencil it is a large one so I made a Slimline Card 3.5 X 8.5 inches. I blended some distress inks to look like a sunrise/sunset  added some deer and of course some cardinals. I then layered it on a navy stardream layer and I diecut the words from the same cardstock.

Closer look although you can't see how shiny the sentiment is/

Finished the inside with a stampendous sentiment I found while looking for my pallet knives, it has a bend in it and wouldn't stick to the block, Anyone know how to flatten it out?

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to look at the main blog to see the fabulously stenciled creations the rest of the design team have made.  This is the last Christmas challenge for 2022 come back in 2023 (check the blog for the date)

Blending In

Challenge #474 at Shopping Our Stash is Blending In which means we want to see some form of ink blending on your project. I have done some ink blending but for this challenge I decided to do some You Tube surfing and found a Gina K video from World Cardmaking day 2020 and followed her step by step, now I much admit I only got the ink blending part done while she made full cards, the best part I had fun and got very inky with abandoned coral. (I used distress oxide inks)  Now I finished my card as Gina does with a white base, thin black layer under the image and I left the 1/2 inch border as she did and I really like how it looks, how's that for venturing out of my comfort zone?

The silhouette stamp I used is a pretty old one from Stampin'up, it stuck on the stamp positioner very tightly I cold stamp it 4 or 5 times to get the black image, unlike the Birthday stamp that moved and I couldn't re-stamp it to make it darker, it looks better IRL.

Closer look at the sentiment.

For the inside I used a scrap of the blended paper, a smaller stamp from the same stamp set from Stampin'up. The verse is from Fran's Cling Stamps at Stampendous.

Thanks for spending some time here today I hope you will try your hand at some ink blending and head over to the MAIN BLOG and check out what the rest of the design team have made to inspire you.

It's Ornamental, My Dear Watson....

It's a new challenge at the Jingle Belles and since my hair appointment was rescheduled I had s bit of free time to make a card for the challenge and get it done before the linky closed, well surprise I'm early, wow, it doesn't end until next Wednesday.

I was inspired by a teamie's sunset scene you will find it HERE although I think I was a little more heavy handed when blending. I uses Gently Falling embossing folder for the background on navy stardream cardstock the ornament is silver and I layered it with two heavy cardstock layers, The Merry also cut out of Silver posterboard and 3 additional layers were cut to elevate it .

Since I kput Merry on the front with no room for Christmas I added "and bright" ancient rub on from Stampin'up and a sentiment from Stampendous.

I'm adding this to:

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Ornamental My Dear Watson

Just Us Girls ~~ #609 Word Week Merry

Happy Little Stampers ~~ Anything Goes with Dies

Thanks for stopping by today and there is still time to make more ornament cards.
