Challenge #182 At Shopping Our Stash

Ah Shopping Our Stash is  back after a holiday rest with a new challenge, the theme is Thrice as Nice….you need to use at least 3 different patterned papers on your project. I know from experience it isn’t as easy for me as it sounds but I think I did a fine job.  Of course I made this before the Christmas season was upon us, I needed all the time I could get the last week before the “big” day and I made this to send to one of my “snarky” sisters, I think she liked it.
IMG_2555
The papers were all from American Crafts 6 X 6 pad called Hot Cocoa, it was a lot different than other holiday pads as it was red, black, kraft and white. The bottom layer is one piece that had the snowmen on it.
IMG_2556
Close up of the cute snowman, he/she is one of a set of 4  I bought at the Stamp Barn in Stittsville before they were bought by the Frog’s Whiskers in Campbellford ON, although this set is not on their site, but there are sure lots of great stamps in both wood and cling mount.
IMG_2557
Using leftover scraps and the top note sizzix die I finished the inside with a seasonal sentiment.
If you celebrate the season I hope your holiday was filled with friends, family and fun.

I would like to enter this in Freshly Made Sketch #167

Thanks for stopping by today and I will see you again in the New Year.

Challenge #24 Y is for Yuck

It’s Saturday and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers have a new challenge. Y is for Yuck it’s to use something you don’t like but you better tell us about your yuck or we might not think it is Yucky at all.
Christmas day festivities are over and the Boxing Day Sales are on full tilt here in Canada. It started in England when the affluent people would give their servants something in a box the day after Christmas, I have no clue how it came to be a shopping frenzy. Any way on to my Yuck card.
IMG_2563
my yuck is the paper, I bought it cheap from the clearance rack from Stampin’up, I wanted something that would go with coral and it does but all around the edges there is distressing, if I wanted it distressed I could have done it myself, to me it looks dirty. The stamp I used is from an old hostess set that has never seen ink but I love how the Calypso coral blendablities worked on it. I layered it on Nellie Snellen oval die cuts.
IMG_2564
Close up of the flowers.
IMG_2565
The finished inside of the Birthday card, I hope the recipient liked it. Funny how I thought the paper was Yuck and it looks pretty good in the picture.
I hope you can find some time to join in the fun and dig out your yuck things and make us a project with them.

IMG_2541
The poinsettia is a die from Boss Kutz, I cut two sets out of white recollections holiday paper.(it’s shimmery) embossed the sentiment in gold.

I picked a Favourite Card of 2014……a Challenge

A very interesting challenge we have the next two weeks, Pick a favourite card from the past year and post it to the challenge blog at Clear it Out Tuesday.  I have so many favourite cards that I have created over the past year and it was so hard to choose. I picked a card that was first posted on February 4th you can find the original post HERE.  The theme was karaoke and in the midst of the worst winter in a while all I could think of was Baby it’s Cold Outside.  Along with being my favourite card it’s my favourite digi store….Bugaboo Stamps. So here is my favourite card of 2014.
Clear it Out song.
And it’s our favourite snarky lady…Stella

Happy Monday and there is only a few days left to get everything organized for the big day!! The Cheerful Stamp Pad  will be on a holiday break until January 5, 2015, I would like to take time to wish Vicki and my teamies a Very Merry Christmas and Prosperous 2015.

IMG_2533
Olaf is a digital image from Sassy Studio Designs I received it free to join in the progressive challenge, which ends December 26th.  I made this for my great grandson (he was very happy with it) I fussy cut Olaf out and put him on a wobble (note to self…must buy more) I think I almost wore him out playing with him before I put it in the envelope.
IMG_2534
Here is a closer look at the trees and how the image is popped up on the wobble.
Thanks for visiting today and I would like to wish all my family, friends and followers a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2015.
Don’t forget the next challenge is January 5, 2015 see you then.

Another Pink Christmas Card and a Great Sketch Challenge

When I first saw the sketch last week I knew I wanted to try it and life got in the way and when I got the reminder I still had time to enter I got busy. The Sketch is at Freshly Made Sketches and you can use up your scraps…..BONUS!!
IMG_2548
I was rummaging through my patterned paper and I found some pink and green Christmas paper I thought was long used up. It is green on one side and patterned on the other. The pink polka dot one was in my scrap tin and thought ok it will work. You might have notice I’ve had a few of these little snowmen, there were 4 all coloured up for a challenge and I missed it, but I was not going to let them go to waste.
IMG_2549
Finished the inside with a sentiment on a top note die cut with some of the patterned paper to decorate it.

I Love a Challenge….Especially when it uses SCRAPS

I saw this challenge Saturday and I knew I had the perfect sketch to use up a lot of scraps, in fact the only thing that was not a scrap was the base.
IMG_2520
The image is one of a set of 4 snowmen/snowladies I bought on a trip to Stittsville the set is from Sunshine Designs.  The patterned paper is a couple of years old and I’m down to scraps, works perfect for a non traditional coloured card.
IMG_2521
Here is a close up of the snowperson.coloured in pink with a touch of green
IMG_2522
Just a simple warm winter wishes on the inside, well when it gets this late in the season snow men and winter wishes are the best bet as they might not be received until after the big day.

It’s a Red Alert at Shopping Our Stash

Looking for my Clear it Out Tuesday Post scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash has a Red Alert out for challenge # 181 and this one will last two weeks. We need to have a break for Christmas.  For this challenge I made mini treat holders. I found the tutorial for it at Stamp and Scrap with Frenchie. They are simple to make although I didn’t have the tag die from Stampin’ up I used one of my other dies and a punch.
IMG_2504
The image is “having a ball” from House Mouse Designs coloured with copics and punched out and layered on a scalloped punch out.  As I didn’t have the candy I can’t show the side view but an individually wrapped York peppermint patty fits in there perfect.
Thanks for stopping by today and remember the Red Alert challenge lasts for two weeks.

It’s Tuesday and time for a NEW Challenge at CIOT

Oh my where is the time going to? It is only 10 days to the big day. I’m not ready are you? I’m still working on Christmas cards, I made them for the design teams, I make them when I see a great sketch or get a new stamp I even make them in my sleep and nothing to show for it in the morning.  On to the challenge, it’s a favourite Anything Goes stash Anything goes. So check Clear it Out Tuesday’s blog for all the rules and have a peek at what the design team has done. Two sponsors for the challenge Melonheadz and Digital Delights
IMG_2517.
The image I used was from Melonheadz and it was a free image I got to play with for the challenge. I used Stella Say’s Sketch #221 at Catch the Bug challenge Blog.
IMG_2518
Super cute little elf, coloured with copics and layered on green and a die cut I found in the scrap box, how’s that for clearing it out.
IMG_2519
Using the top note from sizzix I cut the sentiment layer and used a scrap left over from the patterned paper on the front.

Signs of Christmas Week 2 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

All around us there are signs of Christmas, what are your ideas for them?  A Christmas wreath, tree, snow, holly and so many more. The count down is on and I’m still making some cards to send to a few friends so this challenge is perfect for me.  Kaz Kats at Stitchy Bear digital Outlet is one of the sponsors for the challenge and I chose a sprig of holly as my image here is what I made for the challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad.
IMG_2512
The image was coloured with alcohol markers and  fussy cut out then elevated on to the strip of patterned paper which was edged with some gold paper. the red layer was embossed with a poinsettia embossing folder from Sizzix (Stampin’up) I embossed Seasons Greetings in gold.
IMG_2513
A close up of the image, I added glossy accents to the berries.
IMG_2514
The finished inside of the card, I added some scraps to the sentiment layer.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you find time to add your project to the challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad.

N is for Naughty Christmas Card

It’s Saturday and time for a brand new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and we want to see your naughty Christmas card. For my project I used a Sassy Studio Designs image sassy girl on a present. The sentiment was computer generated.  I had my image coloured and cut out for over a week but I couldn’t think of a sentiment and it wasn’t until tonight I found something that went with my image. So here is mine……..
IMG_2508
Since I was running very very late this is very simply done and in traditional Christmas colours.
IMG_2509
Close up of the image and the white opal liquid pearl I used on the fur on her outfit.
Thanks for stopping by today and you know you want to join the SoSS design team and show off your naughty side.

You should check out the store and see the great images they have and there is a 50% off sale going on right now, what a Christmas gift you yourself just click HERE to check it out.  I have been trying to use colours I’m not fond of and green is one of them but the green I used kind of grew on me. Have a look at what I came up with for the challenge.
IMG_2501
I think it needs a few more touches with a darker marker and might just give it a try. I was in a rush to get it done before noon today and just noticed that while looking at here.

Here is the finished inside using some scraps and the Top Note sizzix die.

What’s Your Favourite Technique? We Need to See It!

Looking for my Clear it Out Tuesday post scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash has a new Challenge and it is to use your favourite technique, please tell us what it is in your blog post. Easy peasy right? I tried Faux Silk for an Easter card and was very pleased with the technique and thought I would give it another “go”.  I did find out there are two different techniques for it, one where you stamp on the tissue paper and the one I used where you stamp on a piece of cardstock, I used copics to colour my image. Then take a glue stick and cover the image then you take a piece of tissue paper scrunch it all up then open it up and add it to the image with the glue on it, smooth it out leaving some wrinkles.  Now see how mine turned out.
IMG_2488
I used a sketch from Catch The Bug Sunday challenge for their 2nd annual Holiday Chaos. The image is ancient it is Rubber Stampede and I think it was from Michaels Arts and Crafts store. The music paper is from a DCWV stack and I spritzed it with red glimmer mist.
IMG_2489
Here is a close up of the cardinal, I see I could have scrunched it more but I am happy with the look.

It will be a Blue Christmas Without You……

Oh dear got carried away again with a song and a favourite one at that I can hear Elvis singing as I type.
It’s Tuesday and time for a new challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday, we want to see the colour BLUE and the stash item is BLUE ribbon or twine. It really doesn’t have to be a Christmas themed card but I chose to make one as I’m down to the crunch to get some finished. The sponsor is Stamp Art by Kathryne and I just love her images they are fabulous. Here is mine for the challenge.
IMG_2491
As you can see he is the most adorable polar bear in a huge Santa cap. I added white opal liquid pearls to the fur on the hat. My stash item is the ribbon in bashful blue from Stampin’up.
IMG_2492
Don’t you just love his adorable face?
IMG_2493
Inside finished with the top note and  a scrap of the patterned paper that was left over.

It’s “Signs of Christmas” at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

Challenge #101 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad is to make a project/card with what you think are signs of Christmas.  Gingerloft at Stitchy Bear Outlet is one of the sponsors of the challenge and we were given some super digital images to play with. I chose to use a wooden door with a twig wreath on it. See for yourself how awesome the image is.
IMG_2494
I just coloured with two colours of copics, added the gold ribbon and white opal liquid pearls for the snow. The cardinal is from another stamp but I thought it needed a pop of red.
IMG_2495
A close up of the wreath, bow and cardinal.
IMG_2496
The sentiment is stamped on very vanilla and cut with the Sizzix top note and attached to the base which is kraft by recollections.
Thanks for stopping by today and we would like to see your “signs of Christmas” .

SOS #179 Free is Good mid challenge post

Looking for my Clear it Out Tuesday post, just scroll down or click HERE.
Last minute I decided to make a card for the second half of the challenge #179 at Shopping Our Stash, so you still have another week to get your project in for the challenge. We want you to use something you got free and there are so many free digital images out there you just cannot let this one go by. Well when I got the free marshmallow snowman from Meljen’s Designs Facebook page I knew I just had to  enter. In my bloglovin feed this morning I saw a wonderful sketch from Cheerful Sketches and I just had to try it. I used three different scraps of patterned paper that were left overs from a couple of different projects. So here is what I did for the challenge.
IMG_2474
I have to save this sketch I just love it and it wasn’t too hard to do. I used my spellbinders circles small and large and had the hat over the circles. The holly leaves are punched with a mini punch I bought 5 years ago in a U.S. Wal-Mart. (I also managed to pinch my baby finger in the punch too, Ouch) Black rhinestones are on his tummy for buttons and the sentiment is a mini self inking set of stamps.
