M is for Monochromatic at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

The theme for challenge #183 at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers  is Monochromatic so pick a colour and lets see how many shades you can make into a card.  I love monochromatic cards and do them all the time, as always there are so many choices it was hard to settle on one. I'm working on building my stash of "guy" cards so that set the plan in motion.

The die I used just cuts the image in the cardstock so I used a circle die to cut it out so I could elevate the scene. The sky is a scrap of watercolour paper that I smooshed in three shades of distress oxide inks.

Close up to see the watercolour background.

Finished the inside with a little bit of snark and some scraps of patterned paper.

Thanks for stopping by today and check out the MAIN BLOG to see what the rest of the Sistahs have made I'm sure there is much more snark there.

Happy Little Stampers ATC challenge for June ~~ Monochrome

Happy Little Stampers is taking a hiatus for 6 months so this is my last ATC for them for a while (hoping I get asked back) It's been so much fun creating the little 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inch rectangles and 2 inch circle Coins. Monochrome is one of my favourite things and quite I don't plan it but happens anyway. For this challenge I wanted to tackle a few things I don't do very often and need practice  so here are my ATC cards.

Along with tackling stencils I also use two colours I rarely use especially in one tone.

First I made the background with two distress oxide colours then using the Hero Arts Large Lotus pattern stencil, layered it on two shades of yellow and decided to play with the cone flower die which I cut in yellow then in foam core to elevate it on the card, Finished with a trio of yellow glitter enamel dots from the Eyelet Outlet.

For this pair of ATCs I started  out with the background using two shades of brown distress oxide ink and after it was dry I use the Tim Holtz splatters stencil in the darker colour. The coffee mug is a stamp and die from Verve and I paper pieced some clock paper on it. I also added some coffee beans and the sentiments are from the Verve coffee set. It is also layered on two shades of brown.

Thanks for following along with me on my 6 months as part of the  design team of Happy Little Stampers. ATC challege blog.

The base is Dark purple later that I stamped is wisteria wonder I used Versa fine purple to ink up the Flora background stamp (retired) from Stampin’up. I stamped the sentiment (also SU) on the wisteria wonder with the purple ink and layered it on a Concord grape fancy label die.

With Enough Caffeine I Could Rule The World……..

I need a couple of cups of java to kick start my morning, but try not to drink coffee late afternoon. I bought theses cute stamps at the December open house at my favourite stamp store, The Butterfly Moon I finally took them out of their packaging.  I thought the background stamp was so versatile as I have other coffee related stamps.
IMG_1911
The stamps I used are from House Mouse Designs the banner is made with the Coffee Background stamp and the image is Caffeine High. The sentiment is from Stampin’up. Cardstock Very Vanilla and Early Expresso. buttons from CTMH. I stamped coffee beans with Versamark watermark all over the early expresso.

I used several colouring mediums, prismas colour pencils and alcohol markers.

Another finished inside of a card, it really doesn’t take very much extra time to do it either. You can see the full background stamp. The coffee bean stamp is from Stampabilities and the sentiment is from Inkadinkado by Dawn Houser.
I saw this sketch and so wanted to try it although my image is not a circle. I am sure this sketch will be used many times, I love it.
I am entering this card in three challenges.

Fall is here!!!

Almost the end of September where has our summer gone? I like the Fall, daytime temperature in SWO is 20 C and the night temperature is usually 6 to 9 degrees Celsius nice and cool for sleeping.. I haven’t put the furnace on at home yet but the cottage is a lot colder due to it being a “summer” cottage. It would be winterized but it’s nice to have a change for the Winter.
I follow House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge Blog and love to make cards with my favourite rodents so try to do as many as I can, some weeks it just doesn’t work out for me, that being said it’s been  three in a row….Wow.

I was working on this image for a fall birthday and when the challenge was posted  I thought “perfect” I addend the small flowers for fun. There was a Sunflower challenge and I didn’t bookmark it but I am sure it is over.

Brand New Challenge at the Drunken Stamper’s blog!!!

Wow another week has just flown by, still having some nice weather, I think that is about to turn into “ducky” weather. It is also time to close the cottage for the winter, just a little too cold for me.

The challenge this week is to make a card with a secret, doesn’t that sound intriguing, you will find all the information about the challenge at the Drunken Stamper’s Challenge Blog.
                           IMG_1495
I made a simple Birthday card although it took me long enough to finish it. The embossing folder is from Stampin’up and I added some rhinestones to the centre if the flowers. Added some polka dot ribbon and a peel and stick sentiment. I have not used them much except in class. The cardstock is pretty in pink from Stampin’up.  Now for my secret you will have to scroll down to find out what it is.
                           IMG_1496
A bookmark is hidden in the slot in the front of the card. I put a pink brad and a scrap of the same polka dot ribbon as a pull tab to remove the hidden sentiment.
Thanks for visiting today and don’t forget to stop by the Drunken Stamper’s challenge blog found HERE and join in the fun.

Monochrome Sympathy

I have finished a card for a challenge I found at this new blog called The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop, they have monthly challenges which are much easier to keep up with. I love the look of Monochromatic cards and I love the colour purple….any shade will do.  I would have loved to put a big fancy bow on the card but it really didn’t call for it so I just put a tiny knotted one on the embossed stems of the flowers.  I think sewing on a card makes it look a bit more elegant. I also prefer to use “Thinking of you” instead of sympathy it could also be used for a “get well” too.
                         Monochrome Sympathy
I am really liking the Fancy Labels die set from Spellbinders I have used them on a couple of cards lately. Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to go check out the Pretty Little Ribbon Shop and perhaps do the challenge you have until the end of September to get it finished.
