The Aliens have Arrived!!

It was my Great Grandson's 7th birthday on Thursday and the theme he picked for it was "Space" it sure makes it easier to plan a party. Since my left hand is still not completely mobile I needed to find a shortcut for a card and I found some Alien Artist Trading Coins I made in 2021that were perfect.

I tried a new to me Galaxy technique for the background (note to self use a splatter box) I popped the 3 coins up on a slimline card which is 3.5 X 8.5 inches. I also s
decorated the envelope.

another closeup, you can see the white splatters

I added an appropriate space sentiment to the inside.

Level Up!!

No matter what age a Birthday card recipient is if they love video games they will love to receive a "gamer card".  I made the card for my great granddaughter's 14th birthday, it is a full slimline card which was perfect to add some "coloured" greenbacks, as with all teens cash is the only way to go.

Since Pokemon is a favourite I added a picture I found free on google, although it's not very clear I embossd the yellow layer with an embossing folder from the TH crazy cat set. The design is a mixture of everything I saw while searching. The tv is flat attached at the basee but elevated  The controller is flat attached but the head set is popped  up.

Finished the inside with a couple of game boy  controllers and a favourite sentiment.

I'm adding this to:

Seize the Birthday ~~ #257 for a child (where gaming is involved everyone is a child.)

Thanks for stopping by today to see what I've been making.

Christmas Bells Those Christmas Bells

I'm starting this one early, hoping to get one more done in the next 10 days and keeping my mind on my New Year's list. It sure does take me  along time to make one card, I did have the assistant helping (not). I have a plan devised, I will leet you know if it works.

Impression Obsession jingle bells and sentiment they work so well for a slimline card, I used distress inks for te background, and the montage of die cuts were from the off cuts bin.

Close up at my collage attempt.

Finished the inside with a Hero Arts sentiment and a couple of extra bells and more  from the off cuts bin.

Naughty or Nice.............that is the question!!!

Edna is getting her presents ready for the Sisterhood and is asking Naughty or Nice? We want to see your Naughty or Nice projects.

What is naughtier than a Snarky Cat? Nothing I can think of so I stamped, coloured and fussy cut one and a bunch of presents, (the bows were a challenge) Because of the "gung ho" in stamping so many pressies I made a full slimline card, and it gave me more room to use many snarky sentiments too.

Finished the inside with a Hero Arts sentiment and of course another snarky sentiment to boot.

I will add this to:

The Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Wrapping up 2022 Last link-up

Thanks for visiting, I'm still not done with my holiday cards, I was a tad slack this year.

A Stenciling we will Go!!

Hello fellow crafters it's time for the December Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge and it is always  anything goes with an option.

As you see it's optional to use a Stencil, I must admit I am not a stencil person, I have the equipment (although plan "A" required texture paste which was totally hard and not usable) So of course on to plan "B" which was a "fail" next in line was plan "C" also a fail, I gave up for the day I had been working for 2 days on this stencil prompt, so even though I was really late I trudged on, a good night's sleep with ideas roaming around in my dreams I set up for plan "D" and I am happy I just didn't go with the anything goes theme.

As I said earlier I am not particularly fond or good at stenciling but I dug out the winter trees stencil it is a large one so I made a Slimline Card 3.5 X 8.5 inches. I blended some distress inks to look like a sunrise/sunset  added some deer and of course some cardinals. I then layered it on a navy stardream layer and I diecut the words from the same cardstock.

Closer look although you can't see how shiny the sentiment is/

Finished the inside with a stampendous sentiment I found while looking for my pallet knives, it has a bend in it and wouldn't stick to the block, Anyone know how to flatten it out?

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to look at the main blog to see the fabulously stenciled creations the rest of the design team have made.  This is the last Christmas challenge for 2022 come back in 2023 (check the blog for the date)

Winter Wonderland ~~ Kitties and puppies

Welcome to my second post for Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge, it's anything goes + the option of Wonderland. I could not resist making a slimline wonderland scene giving reasonalbly even billing to both well maybe I'm a bit biased and leaning to the kitty side.

I used a NBUS I don't think I've had it that long but it's been a while and I was saving it to use on this challenge.

My first attempt at smooshing oxide inks on watercolour paper, I like how it looks. First I stamped and coloured all the bits for the scene, I used the co-ordinating dies (not well but better than usual)  I put all the images on foam dots but the trees and snowball piles are flat attached.

Finished the inside with a couple of left over pieces and a punched paw prints border and a holday sentiment

Two in the afternoon at the breakwall at the lake is the perfect time to take a picture as long as the sun is shining. Today it was perfect.

Because I've not used this super cute set before I'm entering this in:

What's the BUZZ?

Hello and welcome to a new installment of Shopping Our Stash!! The theme is "Quit Bugging Me", so we want to see bugs on your card, (I don't want to see bugs anywhere else)  My stamps set isn't vintage but I have had it for a while and has never been out of the package. It is a clear set and you need to "season" it before use.

I used Bees for my bug of choice, they are good little fellas going from flower to flower and them making honey. I made a slimline card (I didn't want to eliminate any bee) and I diecut them with the co-ordinating dies (something I've rarely done as I rarely get them perfect)  Added a few flowers layered it on a smooshed distress oxide background. Vertical Happy Birthday seemed perfect too.

As you cn see I popped the bees up on some foam dots. the flowers and HB are attached flat.

Finihed the inside with a ;ayer of green under the sentiment layer, So far I've used this sentiment twice and even with the stamp positioner I have it crooked.

I'm adding this to:
Seize the Birthday ~~ Anything Goes.

Pretty in Pink....

Nope not the movie just me using my second favourite colour for a Birthday Card using my very favourite stamps....from House Mouse Designs.

It's a slimline card using the mini clear stamps from Stampendous, I have a collection of them, soon will have to find a larger container oh a lightbulb moment wonder if they would fit in coin holder or hockey card holders (I have both at home) As you see I'm at the cottage and it was an extremely dull day I tried to lighten it up but didn't want it to look fake.  The recipient has received her card and her favourite colour is PINK. The frame and balloons are from a slimline die set. The thin black layer is a preference for these slimline cards.

I added some extra balloons and a long sentiment to the inside.

I'm entering this in:

Seize the Birthday ~~ #218 Framed

Thanks for stopping by today and have a lovely week.

Gnome Doubt About It!

Challenge #446 at Shopping Our Stash is Gnome doubt about it! ~~ use a Gnome or other Magical creature. Last year when gnomes were just becoming a "trend" I questioned why I didn't have any gnomes so one of my teamies sent me a couple and I figured it was time to shop my stash and use them on a card.

It is a slimline card 3.5 inches by 8.5 inches and fits in a business envelope. I used a inverted scalloped slimline die on some shiny red cardstock, the plaid patterned paper is double sided and I bought it last year at Stamp Art in London before we were in lock-down, I love plaid for Holiday cards. The film strip was made by cutting a tad larger than 2 inches and used the binding edge punch from Stampin'up which I haven't used in many years. Then using a small rectangle spellbinders die cut the openings and used a 2 X 8.25 white piece as a backing, sponged some ink and then fussy cut the two gnomes and my alpha dies were to large to add three HOs.

I love this vertical sentiment from Stampabilities dated 2005, I'm sure I've had it that long too. I added a strip of the patterned paper to finish the inside.  I try to finish the insides of all the Holiday cards that way there are no surprises come mailing time.

Has anyone any tips on how to photograph slimline cards, I really was in a dilemma trying. I even propped the Ott lamp up (dang it was hot too) They are too tall for my homemade photo booth. It will be nice to get to the cottage so I can use the lake as a backdrop (as long as it's not windy).

Thanks for stopping by today I hope you find time to get your magical creatures or gnomes out and enter the challenge, don't forget to head to the MAIN BLOG and check out what the rest of the design team have made.

Shopping Our Stash ~~ All things Leafy.

It's finally spring in SWO, April showers and new growth budding all over. Crocuses have bloomed, the wild violets in the lawn are flowering and at Shopping Our Stash the challenge for the next fortnight is Plant Life ~~ all thing Leafy. I found a really great leafy piece of patterned paper in my stash,  it was a bundle stamps, dies and a paper pack from the SAB 2009, I've pretty much gone through the leafy/floral sheets and have used the dies but never inked the stamp set, just looking at the stamps it's a shame I haven't inked them. I thought I could add to my birthday card stash with making a slim-line eclipse card.

I often wonder why I bought the bundle as none of the colours in the papers are my go to colours, but I do like going out of my comfort zone occasionally and this was one of those times.  I used my 2 inch Alpha dies to cut HAPPY, I find these cards are easier to make than they look, With the patterned paper you don't need a lot of embellishments. Leaves and flowers from the same set and some enamel dots from Dollar Tree.

A side view of the happy, I did cut a birthday sentiment to put on the lower right. The flower and leaf is on the lower left  corner.

Finished the inside with a layer of patterned paper that was a failed die cutting but it's still use-able and I have the alphas to use on something else. I had cut three sets of flowers and leaves but of couse the fro
nt was too busy to add more than one so they are added to the inside, Love this sentiment package I have really fits the Slim-line cards.

I am going to add tis to:

Along the Edge...........

Hello Family, Friends and Followers!! I'm back again with another skyline themed card, I love making these sunrise/sunset backgrounds. What is better? it's another masculine birthday card for my many guy cards I need, 3 down 3 to go.  This card came about when I saw AAA Cards  Game #186 Along the Edge and optional use only die cuts. I hadn't used the slimline skyline die yet and it was the first thing I thought of, I had to look for it, funny part was it is so narrow it got stuck to the side of the plastic container it was in and I kept missing it while looking. (story of my crafting life). I am very pleased to say it is all die cuts, layers front and inside and the city skyline, the sentiment is stamped.

Although I have deemed this a guy card I'm sure any lady would be just as happy with it.

I used a 110 pound base but lighter weight layers I'm sure if I mailed this it would cost more thought. I love these long images they work great for slimline cards.

I'm entering this in:
AAA Cards ~~~ Game #186 Along the Edge/opt. diecuts only.
I love that it is called a Game

Up, Up and Away...

Welcome to my blog today, Shopping Our Stash has a brand new challenge!! It's the Rainbow Connection. We want to see rainbows or rainbow colours on your project. When I planned my card it seemed rather easy to do but as I was working on it I knew it was going to be way too involved as I wanted to paper piece, please note....there was no paper piecing involved in the making of this card.

As the rainbow took up a fair amount of space and I wanted a dark layer I cut the base 4 inches by 8.50 inches. The card still fits in a #10 or business envelope. I started to make the background after watching a video, mine really didn't look like the video so I just blended two shades of DI ink over it and I really like the results, you can still sort of see the clouds but you can't. I used white foam core to cut the hot air balloons, I have had the die for a couple of years, and the clouds as well, The rainbow is fairly new but never been used before, it takes practice to line them up properly too. Hello was cut three times and glued together to give it dimension, which shows much better IRL.

Thanks for stopping by today and I'm looking forward to seeing your "rainbow connection" cards. Head over to the Main Blog and see the awesome rainbow themed cards the rest of the design team have made.

Three of a Kind

I'm not playing poker today I'm entering a challenge, just because I like to push myself do do something I am not really good at.......CAS. The Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge is Three of a Kind , I had the image cut for another challenge, I'm happy they found a home.

These thre bunny die cuts are adorable and just needed to be a slimline card (3.5 X 8.5 inches) The background behind the bunnies is a DI oxide background that was floating around, Because the bunny frame is white I did put a very tiny border so it can be seen as the layer is white as well. so sorry about those tiny stars but I had an opportunity to embellish (a missed pencil mark)  I added the pink ears, and after I inlaid them I though oh the nose then I saw the size, never happened.

Here is the inside, a Happy Easter die cut and a few little white bunnies in the grass which is a slimline die from a set of landscape dies.

I am entering this in:

There's Gnomebody like You.....

This was made for a friend,  her Birthday came, her Birthday went, this is the card I should have sent!! Better late than never, and if I wasn't late sending I'm sure CP would delay it anyway, the mail has been behind lately due to one PO receiving center having an outbreak.

I stamped the 5 gnomes, coloured and fussy cut, and popped up, I can rarely get the dies to cut straight and I'm not fond of the white border, just a personal preference.  The sky was blended with blue oxide inks added a few tiny clouds, and a couple of slimline die cuts, Mushrooms and a couple of ladybugs.

Finished the inside with a Whoopsie Daisy, apologizing for the lateness of my card. Stamped and coloured a gnome,  in case you wondered about all the PURPLE it's her fav. colour.

I'm entering this in:

Seize the Birthday ~~ Create a Scene
