Save the Hooters……

Although breast cancer month is over this is one thing we should never stop checking. I made this card for my friend that has just finished chemo for breast cancer, I really wanted her to get it yesterday but the mail takes an extra day from home.
The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is Stella save the Hooters. I coloured with my prisma colour pencils and odourless mineral spirits. The sketch I used is from Catch the Bug Challenge Blog Stella says Sketch #146.
IMG_1805
I flipped the sketch left to right it just looked better that way. I used up some scraps of patterned paper from Stampin’up and ribbon I’ve had for years. the chipboard buckle I made a while ago when I was playing around with bic markers and some chipboard pieces that are ages old.
IMG_1808A close up of the buckle, it almost looks marbled.
               IMG_1806
Here is the inside of the card, I thought it needed a little extra so I added the punched flowers, I used more scraps of the patterned paper.
                         IMG_1807
I finally unpackaged the leaf punch, I am sure I have had it for 5 or more years, probably the “more” part. If I have time I love to decorate the inside of the cards, but almost always run out of time. I thought it just looked so pretty.
I am entering this in the Stella Says Sketch 146 at Catch the Bug Challenge blog. They are a happening challenge blog, no matter what day of the week you will find something to enter there.
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you had a creative Wednesday.

Head over to The Cheerful Stamp Pad to see what the other design team members have made for your inspiration. The sponsor for the challenge is Floppy Latte.
My thoughts went to what I do to decorate for Christmas and one thing is to hang our two stockings on the antique secretary, I don’t have a mantel. My image from House Mouse Designs I am really fond of making them into cards, I also like to try to enter a card in the House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge Blog…you will find it HERE.
IMG_1809
I also thought about decorating the card so I used some red lace and rhinestones for decorations, I also used my spica glitter pens on the candy canes.
IMG_1810
Here is a close up of the lace and rhinestones. And next a close up of the cute little rodent that has been munching on the candy cane.

Wow I made a “Clean” card for Freshly Made Sketches

Hello friends and family, I saw this sketch and so wanted to try it but as you all know I am not good with a Clean and Simple card (CAS) This sketch made it so easy and I love how it looks. What do you think?
IMG_1812
There isn’t really a lot to say about it, it speaks for itself. I couldn’t believe how fast this went together, picking the cardstock took the longest. I used a Hero Arts stamp Script Christmas, Versafine Crimson Red ink, cherry cobbler, GP white cardstock and the patterned paper is from Stampin;up.
I am entering this in Sketch 113 at Freshly Made Sketches this sketch ends on Monday not sure if it is A.M. or P.M. which is why I’m getting it done tonight.
Thanks for taking time to have a peek at my blog to see what I’ve been creating.

Snowflakes, Snowflakes let us see some Snowflakes

I only want to see them on your projects I’m not ready for any of the white stuff yet but the new challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday is Anything Goes and the stash item is SNOWFLAKES. We would like to see a snowflake or more on your project. We have two sponsors for the challenge Digi Darla Designs and QKR Stampede.
Being from Ontario, Canada we have moose in the northern area so I chose a Christmas Moose from QKR Stampede. It was just so adorable I had to use it for this challenge. My snowflakes are not the traditional colour but they are on my card.
IMG_1800
The cardstock is Ridinghood Red it pair so well with the patterned paper from one of the Christmas pads I have. The tiny snowflakes are leftovers from a border punch and the larger ones are an EK punch I bought last trip to the U.S., found them in Wal-Mart. Added the rhinestones and the Happy Holiday.
Thanks for looking today and head over to Clear it Out and get all the rules of the challenge, while you are there check out all the great inspiration the design team has made for you.

IMG_1799

Buzz Cut

Hello again, nice to see you are checking to see what I have been up to. I’ve been very busy trying to get some Winter/Christmas cards done and in the mean time I have had a few “feel better” cards as well. It’s probably a good job I am retired. Now the Christmas luncheons and bazaars have started too. I had the weirdest thing happen last week, I coloured my image, found a pink fleur dis lis die cut on my table, decided to add a “banner” sentiment and flowers the next morning in my e-mail I got a sketch from Decontructing Jen and everything was was ready for it. Of course I had to wait until my friend received the card as I wanted it to be a surprise. (she is a faithful reader)  Now here is my “buzz cut card”
IMG_1792
As you can see by the card my friend is going through chemo for cancer and when I saw this image I knew I had to make it for her as she is scrapbooking all the cards she has received so this one will remind her of the  buzz cut she had before starting treatment. I only took a small liberty with the sketch, the sentiment is at the top instead of the bottom. I really like this sketch and know I will use it again.
I am entering this in Sketch #126 at Deconstructed Sketch Blog
Check her blog out there are AWESOME sketches.
Thanks for visiting today and come back again soon.

There is Still Time to join the S’more Challenge!!

There is another week in the S’more Challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday, the stash item is to use something Brown and White on your project. Three sponsors for this challenge, Lacy Sunshine, Bugaboo Digis, and Stamp Art at Whimsy Designs.  Check them out, they have a great selection of digis.
Winter has arrived in South Western Ontario, we have snow on the ground so I’m in the mood to make s’more winter/Christmas cards. My first card has an image from Lacy Sunshine and is a cute image by the name of Coco and the image is Cookies and Hot chocolate for Santa.
IMG_1798
Odd how things change when you get crafting, my idea was to use the pink and green patterned paper, so coloured my image to co-ordinate with it then changed my mind and used the Fancy Label 8 die on the Close to Cocoa cardstock. The brown buttons were from a CTMH package I bought three years ago. (I hope they look like cookies)
IMG_1786
This image is from Stamp Art Design by Katheryne, isn’t he just the sweetest teddy bear you ever saw. His name is Merry Berry  and coloured with prisma colour pencils and odourless mineral spirits. The card is a 5 inch square base with crumb cake cardstock embossed with the flurry embossing folder. I added some snowflakes to the corners
Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been working on and do find some crafty time to join Clear it Out Tuesday for the S’more challenge using Brown and white stash.

There are Angel Wings on The Cheerful Stamp Pad

Challenge #73 at the Cheerful Stamp Pad is Angel Wings and the sponsor is Michelle Perkette.  I used an image I found in my pile of scraps, it was already coloured, I don’t know the name or company of the stamp as I haven’t located it in my array of to be sorted stamps.
IMG_1797
Since the image was already coloured I went with blue and white for my theme. The believe “charm” I bought at the Dollarstore 4 or 5 years ago and now am finally using it. I threaded some wh[te/silver ribbon layered with blue ribbon  Layered the image on a blue die cut oval. The background was embossed with a butterfly folder.
Thanks for stopping by today and please check out the challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad.

It’s Saturday and time for a new Challenge….it’s a Thing

Challenge #149 at the Drunken Stampers the theme is THING and the thing is CHIPBOARD!!! Team Yellow Canary has lots of inspiration on the blog so don’t forget to head over and check them out!!
DS149
Chipboard is not one of my usual things to work with, I have some coasters (from the bar) and some chipboard letters as well as some odd buckles and other pieces too but really don’t know how to utilize them. I have been thinking for two weeks on how to make something work, the first two ideas went out the window, I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card and once I decided on the stamp it went together quickly. Here is what I came up with…….
IMG_1789
The stamp I used is one of the first stamps I bought when I started stamping, it is from Hero Arts  and is called Sketch Snowman. I embossed the white layer with a cuttlebug folder from the Winter Wonderland set, the ribbon was off a gift package, I knew it would come in handy one day. lol.
IMG_1796
Here is a close up of the chipboard piece I used. I tried to paint it with acrylic silk paint but it just beaded up then realized it was shiny and wouldn’t stick so I got out my trusty Bic markers and covered the buckle with the red ink, it turned out better than I thought it would, it looks shiny and because of the pattern on the chipboard it give dimension to it. So now you have seen what I have done and have checked out the other Yellow Canaries work it’s your turn to join the fun at the Drunken Stampers for the Theme/chipboard challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today and come visit again soon.

Anything but a Card at House Mouse & Friends Blog

Hello friends it’s another new challenge at House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge, and I’m early getting mine done. Since it is getting closer to Christmas I decided to join in the Anything but a Card challenge and make a gift card holder. Now I made one of these before and it’s a very simple design. I know I found it on someone’s blog and for some reason or other I can’t find the instruction paper with the name on it, You can be sure I will give credit when I find out.
IMG_1791
This is the closed card, I used a DCWV Christmas pad and Riding hood Red cardstock. I used this cute little guy in an ornament it’s just perfect for this size project. It was layered on a leftover snowflake and then the scalloped punched cardstock.
IMG_1790
Not a very good picture but this is the gift card holder open.
Instructions:
Base 7 X 4 1/4 Score at 2 1/2 and 5 1/2
Patterned Paper:cut 2 pieces  2 1/4 X 4  and 1 piece 1 1/4 X 4
Fold on score lines, on the 2 1/2 section attach with a strong double sided tape to make a pocket..
Add the patterned paper to the front and inside as in the picture.
Belly Band: 9 1/2 X 1 1/8 Patterned paper 4 3/8 X 1
Wrap band around the card holder and attach together, add patterned paper to the front and decorate as desired.
Being crafters you shouldn’t have any trouble following the instructions it is a really quick and easy gift card holder.
I am entering this in the Anything but a Card challenge at House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge you will find HERE.
Thanks for stopping by today come back again soon.

Tuesday!! time for a NEW Challenge at Clear it Out!!!

It’s the first Tuesday of the month and it’s new challenge time at Clear it Out Tuesday. Thanks for all the entries for the Halloween challenge wow there were a lot. I hope you will join the new challenge.
The theme for the new challenge is s'more cards, stash is Brown and white. My interpretation of “s’more” was make some more cards, but you could also think chocolate and marshmallows. We have three great sponsors for the challenge, Bugaboo Digis, Lacy Sunshine and a brand new sponsor Stamp Art Whimsy Stamps.
For the first week of the challenge I used a Bugaboo digi called Christmas Teddy Cocoa, coloured with my prisma colour pencils and OMS. I chose a Christmas image as I need to make a lot of them this year, I decided that the image would look fabulous on a square card so found a 5 inch square base and envelope in my stash to use.
IMG_1787
As you see I went with Cocoa and marshmallows. The patterned paper looks black but it is really chocolate brown. I layered the image on chocolate brown then on the white scalloped square. The marshmallows and cocoa have stickles on them and the fur on the
Santa hat is liquid pearls white opal.

I would like to enter this in the November Anything Goes challenge at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog

Thanks for looking today and get your thinking caps on and decide what S;more means to you but remember to use something from your stash that is Brown ANS White. Check out what the other design team members have done for inspiration just click HERE.

The Cheerful Stamp Pad Colour challenge continues…..

Challenge # 72 is a colour challenge…Purple and Yellow, I’m kinda liking those colours together. The sponsor is Jelly Park Digitals,   check out their store. The image I was given to use is flowers in a vase, great for a get well or birthday card. So get out your purple and yellow and head over to The Cheerful Stamp Pad and join the fun.
IMG_1785
I didn’t finish the sentiment as I didn’t know if it will be birthday or get well, depends on which I need first. I used a so saffron base and patterned paper from Stampin’up. The flowers and vase were coloured with prisma colour pencils and OMS. I used two dies from the Opulent Ovals to make a frame for the image, it is the first time I used them together. It has quite a few dies and so many ways to use them you almost need to be and engineer.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will find some time to make a project in Purple and Yellow and add it to  The Cheerful Stamp Pad Challenge.

House Mouse & Friends Challenge and a Sketch

I hope you are having a good weekend so far and that you remembered to “Fall Back” I am always very glad to get my hour back for some reason or other my body just isn’t happy with the loss of the hour in the spring.

I did manage to get a card done for the House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge, it is a blog hop that ends Saturday night at 11.59, I have commented on all the blogs but hadn’t finished my card.
