Is it Vintage or Shabby Chic?

Finally after giving myself a push this morning I managed to get some mojo to make a card, I had a lot of help from my "helper" picture to the right. Not sure why for the first crafting of the new year I would pick a die that has at least 15 tiny circles, bells and stripes but I persevered and "got 'er done".

The Christmas snippit box took quite a beating today, The patterned paper I saw in there it was holly and berries, I cut it to size and of course it is double sided and wow I liked the other side, woohoo. The red left over die cut was also in my scrap box and I was building my card, I was very excited because I don't make vintage/shabby chic or build much. The Jester Stocking was also cut from scraps and all the foliage and bow were in the Ferrero Rocher box.

Close up of the focal point.

Finished the inside with an ancient Stampabilities sentiment and of course some scraps from the snippits from the front.

It's Vintage time at the Jingle Belles.

I love the vintage challenge at the Jingle Belles, I had 4 of my vintage stamps out on the table to use for this challenge, with each day that went by one of them had to be deleted from the line-up and with today being the last day I was down to one simple stamp.  That simple stamp turned into a production but I'm happy with the results. Simple but nice.

I'm sure 98% of you stampers recognize the stamp, Santa Collage from Rubber Stampede circa 2003. I used several older dies, Spellbinder large and small ovals, scalloped oval, and fancy oval, along with the textile embossing folder. I used Very Vanilla and gold papers.

The sentiment is from Stampendous and I added the embossing folder around a shim that has an oval space in the center. I think I've used it once before.

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Spirit of Christmas Past

Since the Jingle Belle's challenge has a specific theme and it's one I love but for some reason this year I am struggling with Vintage!!! There is a prize too and if you don't have anything vintage there are two downloads from Lauren's personal stash.  I started with plan "A" but soon went to plan "B" and I like it much better. Lots of layers and fancy stuff it's certainly not CAS or DAB.

One of my favourite Christmas stamps it is called Santa Collage and is from Rubber Stampede I do believe I bought it eons ago on a trip to the U.S. at Target. I guess I had stamped it last year as it was in my box of stamped images, bonus, I did a bit of colouring on it cut with spellbinders ovals, the gold embossed paper was on my table beside the cutter and thought oh that would look good. So three layers of plain ovals, one scalloped and a fancy oval die cut. I embossed the scalloped rectangle with the Textile cuttlebug folder. It was too pretty to put a sentiment on it.

The image and 3 layers is popped up with fun foam and attached to the fancy oval.

Since we are going vintage I used a very vintage sentiment from the Artful stamper it might be older than the Santa Collage.

Another Very Vintage Christmas for the Jingle Belles

In my stash of pre-used Christmas cards I saw this beautiful image of three birds and knew I really wanted to recycle it into a "new" card, I started with a 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 square base layered it with blue and a snowflake patterned paper. I cut the image with an EC stitched circle  I cut two large intertwined circles (also EC designs) glued one down and added the image then attached the second intertwined clrcle on top.

Who doesn't love chickadees? I love when they come to the feeder in the winter.
I added some red glitter enamel dots (Eyelet outlet) on the circle.

closer look at the enamel dot and how I trimmed the bird's tail to go outside the circle.

Finished inside.

Very Vintage Christmas.......

Still ahead of the game this week, the Jingle Belles Rock challenge doesn't end until Wednesday!!! I do have a few, hmm maybe quite a few vintage "old" stamps but I saw this pre-used card in my stash and thought I can recycle this into a lovely card, it's such a shame these beautiful store bought cards go to waste.

I cut the image with EC stitched circles and I cut the sentiment with a rectangle when I looked at it I though wow a snow globe!!  The background is falling softly Stampin'up embossing folder and I elevated the snow globe with some foam.

This is a close up of the image, check out the sparkle.

I haven't finished the inside yet as the sentiment I want to use is at home.

Take Me To The Vintage Church!!!

Don't you love it when you see a challenge and know you are going to love it!!! Merry Monday's Christmas challenge blog has a new challenge and it is to put a Church on your project and at the same time Jingle Belles Rock a Vintage challenge so I put the two together and this is what I came up with.

Believe it or not it's another PSX stamp, now this has not seen ink (by me) as I bought it at a yard sale or some sort of sale  but at the time I loved PSX stamps and really had to have it. The image was coloured with copics and cut with a large spellbinder circle. I had some gold paper and made a rick rack frame for the stamp and popped it up on the embossed background. The frame was made with the large scalloped circle die and the large inverted circle die, when cutting it I off set the inverted die so the points were across from the scallops. Most of the card is made with Very Vanilla cardstock with the exception of the gold frame.

I had the vanilla lace out for another project and the button was sitting on my table and just begging to be used.

The inside was finished with a gold embossed sentiment.

Wow Vintage #4 for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge.

I was so excited about the Spirit of Christmas Past challenge at Jingle Belles rock I dug out all my vintage stamps well maybe not all I still have a few hidden. These three of the four stamps had never really made a card before, the one I used today is another PSX and it was used once for a Christmas Swap but never inked again. I tried something I've never done before. And here is what I did.

I stamped in versamark watermark and embossed in clear and watercoloured it with my distress markers. I hope I achieved the effect of watercolour.  The lacy layer is attached to vanilla shimmer cardstock and on a cranberry base.

Sentiment is on very vanilla to finish the inside of the card.

A Silver Christmas.

This week's challenge at Merry Monday Christmas challenge blog is Black, White and Grey/Silver, and I had the perfect image for the challenge. I use another of my PSX stamps to create my card. PSX stamp company isn't in business anymore but they made beautiful stamps, the one I used is Christmas Village #K-1603.

The scene was stamped with versamark watermark ink and embossed with pearl silver embossing powder, layered on black and silver scraps and popped up on the white layer. The black lace ribbon was sitting on my table just waiting to be used.

Finished the inside with a Stampenous sentiment.

Just Another Vintage Christmas for the Jingle Belles Rock Challenge!!!

On Friday when the Jingle Belles Rock challenge arrived in my "in-box" I had so many ideas and started with two of my vintage stamps, one was Father Christmas you can see it HERE and the other was from the same company PSX. Both I stamped on Very Vanilla and as I said in my other post the copics don't seem to work well on it but I persevered with the colouring.  Here is my second card for the challenge.

So sad that this company is no longer making these gorgeous stamps but you can still find them on e-bay. In keeping the vintage feel I chose some patterned paper from a pack I bought 5 years ago.

Close up of these adorable robins

I used the extra piece of patterned paper for the inside of the card, now you can see just how vintage it is. The sentiment is from Stampendous, the name of it is not visible.

The Spirit of Christmas Past ~~ New Challenge at the Jingle Belles Rock!!

Oh my when I saw the challenge on Friday I was delighted and I headed to the craft room climbed up on my stool and rummaged through all my Vintage stamps, I can now make a whole week of cards!!! But I decided to start with one. Don't want you to OD on Christmas posts. My first card is with a stamp I really haven't used much, I think this is the first card I have made with the Father Christmas stamp from PSX, the company is no longer in business but can be found on ebay the number is K2045. I decided to bite the bullet and colour this with my copics (note to self ~ do not use very vanilla cardstock with copics) Of course after all my work I was determined to finish it.

The music sheet is from pinterest and I spritzed it with cranberry shimmer mist (SU) Santa's beard was painted with white liquid pearls mixed with a touch of water.

Finished the inside with a "top note" with my newest favourite sentiment.

Thanks for visiting today and if you want to have a nice stash of Holiday cards come December you should join the fun with the two ladies at the Jingle Belles Rock.

Week #2 of Marie Antoinette at the Cheerful Stamp Pad

Happy Friday!!! I'm here again to say it's the second week of the Marie Antoinette challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad and it's still a joint challenge with Lunagirl Moonbeams now you can enter the same project in two places, it's what I call a "twofer", The sponsor for the challenge is Lunagirl designs  For this week I made another ATC (artist trading card) the collage sheet I chose had great images to use for them.

I used a purple base to accent the purple in the image, I enhanced the flourishes with spica glitter pens and fussy cut the image so it fit in the Fancy labels 8 die cut. 4 rhinestones and I was finished,

Close up of the image.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your weekend.

Week 2 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad continues with Far Away Places

The Cheerful Stamp Pad is still heading for far away places for week 2 of the challenge. The sponsor for the challenge is Lunagirl designs, if you love vintage you need to check them out, the collage pages are gorgeous. I used the Memories of Paris for my first week but there was one more picture on the collage page just begged me to use it and I made it into an ATC (artist trading card),

The base is dark brown the next layer is gold paper from the dollar store, Memories is from the title of the collage page. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

For my card I used Lunagirl World Maps collage sheet. I haven't worked much with collage sheets and had to get a lesson from my daughter on how to just use one section of the sheet and it was so easy, see you can teach an old dog new tricks.  I picked the London map and distress the edges, I have a Tim Holtz Visual Artistry Collection clear stamps set and took this opportunity to use several stamps. A couple of weeks ago I found a Fiskers Stamp press at a yard sale and I used it to make the scene to fit perfect and straight. (a feat for me) I will add a sentiment when I decide Birthday or Father's Day.

Closer look at the map and vintage car.

Thanks for stopping by today I hope you will think of some far away place and make a project for The Cheerful Stamp Pad's Challenge.

IMG_2461
I used a Santa stamp from Rubber Stampede on vanilla cardstock, using the burnished velvet technique I covered it with Be Creative tape and Glitter Ritz clear warm tones. although you cant’ really tell unless you enlarge the image. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and one of my first stamps I bought. I layered it on gold paper from the dollar store (I stocked up on this shiny paper) The background is Cuttlebug embossing folder on a shiny off white paper. (have no clue where I got that from)
IMG_2462
Close up so you can see the glitter and the simmer on the snowflakes.
IMG_2463
Finished inside with a verse from Hero Arts that is embossed in gold.

Clear it Out Tuesday is going Vintage……………

New challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday the theme is Vintage and the stash item is Pearls/ The sponsor is Stitchy Bear Outlet and the image I used is from Delicious Doodles
IMG_2154
No colouring on my image, I felt it looked better just as is, I printed the digi on Very Vanilla cardstock, my first attempt I tried sponging and it didn’t go well. I cut the scalloped opening in the Neutral dsp from Stampin’ up (had it for a long time) then the black was cut with a plain oval, both are Nellie Snellen dies.
IMG_2155
Here are my pearls, they were white pearls I coloured with a spectrum noir warm brown marker, very dark brown too.
IMG_2156
I added silver thin line border stickers to the top and bottom, here is a close up of one of them.
IMG_2157
Finished inside of the card using the cut out from the layer on the front.

The sponsor for the challenge is Gecko Galz check them out, there are freebies on their page. Every month there are new things and March has an Easter pick and a birthday one and a background paper. For my card I used the background paper and the birthday image. Have a look at what I came up with.
IMG_1993
Now isn’t that background paper fabulous, I love it. The image is pre-coloured all I did was add some stickles to the flowers and butterflies. The spellbinder I used is Fancy labels 8 and the “lace” I picked up at a yard sale.(great score)
IMG_1994
Just a close-up of the writing that’s is on the image.

I thought the inside sentiment just followed along with the balloon theme.
