Peace on Earth (Day)

I am really trying hard to do  the Jingle Belles prompts but so far I can't seem to get things going until the last days of the challenge, at least I am earlier than last prompt. As you see the challenge is Earth Day which means recycle something to use, well I spotted a gift card from 2024 in my old card stash and knew it was perfect to upcycle and at the same time I saw a new way to do the Eclipse technique which is perfect for the image.

The gift card was 4 inches square, perfect size for a 5 1/2 inch square card, since there are many ways to do this new way of Eclipse I played around deciding circles, squares then I saw the hexagon dies on the desk I think I have been trying to incorporate them into a card for a while. I think this was the first time using the scalloped square dies from Elizabeth Craft designs and the embossing folder is Softly Falling from Stampin'up (my favourite winter EF)

I thought the sentiment was perfect for the gnomes.

Stars

Happy New Years Eve Day!! It's my last blog post of 2024 and I'm still in Holiday mode, it is always nice to have Winter cards available. I didn't get many cards mailed as Canada Post was on strike so Winter cards it is. Shopping Our Stash is celebrating Stars, we want to see stars on your project.

Who can resist a super cute gnome? I stamped and coloured him and even though I have the dies I fussy cut him out. My stars are not huge but there are quite a few in this piece of 6 x 6 Christmas paper pad from Dollarama.

Second card I made with the gnome set and again I fussy cute her out and coloured in my favourite colour, there are stars in this patterned paper as well. The size of the paper pad works well for mini slimline cards.

Both cards have the same inside sentiment by Hero Arts (one of my first I bought) and a piece of patterned paper.

Thanks for closing out the 2024 SOS season with me. Head over to the SOS blog and check out the inspiration cards the rest of the team has made.

There's Gnome One like You!!

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash, #473 is There's Gnome One Like You, make a card with at least one Gnome on it. Don't forget to let us know what you used from your stash.

I had a lot of fun stamping all the gnomes in the set just to decided on using one, I have tried to remember when designing a card to look for the paper and cardstock before you start, that is when I found a couple of these striped papers and a floral one, they are out of the packaging and I know there are more pieces of different sizes "somewhere". So armed wit the paper I then looked through my file folder tote for cardstock to match. The circle layer is popped up as is the gnome. the sentiment is from the set and the embellishments are there because as I was getting ready to take a picture Toto (my helper) jumped on the table and put a scratch which is now hidden with a clear dot

Closer look at the gnome and the elevation of the top layer.

Finished the inside with birthday sentiment and a few scraps of paper.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the main blog and check out the great Gnome cards the rest of the team have made.

Gnome Doubt About It!

Challenge #446 at Shopping Our Stash is Gnome doubt about it! ~~ use a Gnome or other Magical creature. Last year when gnomes were just becoming a "trend" I questioned why I didn't have any gnomes so one of my teamies sent me a couple and I figured it was time to shop my stash and use them on a card.

It is a slimline card 3.5 inches by 8.5 inches and fits in a business envelope. I used a inverted scalloped slimline die on some shiny red cardstock, the plaid patterned paper is double sided and I bought it last year at Stamp Art in London before we were in lock-down, I love plaid for Holiday cards. The film strip was made by cutting a tad larger than 2 inches and used the binding edge punch from Stampin'up which I haven't used in many years. Then using a small rectangle spellbinders die cut the openings and used a 2 X 8.25 white piece as a backing, sponged some ink and then fussy cut the two gnomes and my alpha dies were to large to add three HOs.

I love this vertical sentiment from Stampabilities dated 2005, I'm sure I've had it that long too. I added a strip of the patterned paper to finish the inside.  I try to finish the insides of all the Holiday cards that way there are no surprises come mailing time.

Has anyone any tips on how to photograph slimline cards, I really was in a dilemma trying. I even propped the Ott lamp up (dang it was hot too) They are too tall for my homemade photo booth. It will be nice to get to the cottage so I can use the lake as a backdrop (as long as it's not windy).

Thanks for stopping by today I hope you find time to get your magical creatures or gnomes out and enter the challenge, don't forget to head to the MAIN BLOG and check out what the rest of the design team have made.

There's Gnomebody like You.....

This was made for a friend,  her Birthday came, her Birthday went, this is the card I should have sent!! Better late than never, and if I wasn't late sending I'm sure CP would delay it anyway, the mail has been behind lately due to one PO receiving center having an outbreak.

I stamped the 5 gnomes, coloured and fussy cut, and popped up, I can rarely get the dies to cut straight and I'm not fond of the white border, just a personal preference.  The sky was blended with blue oxide inks added a few tiny clouds, and a couple of slimline die cuts, Mushrooms and a couple of ladybugs.

Finished the inside with a Whoopsie Daisy, apologizing for the lateness of my card. Stamped and coloured a gnome,  in case you wondered about all the PURPLE it's her fav. colour.

I'm entering this in:

What's New with You?

Welcome to the 2021 edition of Shopping Our Stash!!! Sure hope you had a good holiday, now I didn't go anywhere but my holiday wasn't long enough. I wasn't prepare to hop on the blog so soon, then again I'm usually not working ahead.  Now new craft goodies, I didn't get any but I did purchase some to use for the challenge but CP has not delivered yet. It's not like I have used everything I have bought in the last few months. So for the challenge we want you to use your "new" crafty stuff but do pair it with something old from your stash as well.  Here is what I came up with.

My new things are of course the gnomes and the fence die cut, it comes with a grass border and a tree boarder too. What I used from my stash is the clouds and mini trees I found them in the parts bin.  After I coloured the gnomes even though they have dies to match I decided to fussy cut them, they are attached at the feet to the card but the rest of the gnme bodies are elevated.

Closer look

Closer look at the other two gnomes.

Finished the inside with another pair of stamps that have not seen ink,  The cake is from a kitten set (note to self it would make a cute slimline card) The sentiment is one of 6 that work well with a horizontal slimline card.

There you have it I used some unused gifts to myself that have never been used and some from my parts bin too. Now it's your turn so show us what new crafty things "Santa" brought.

Thanks for stopping by and check out the Main Blog to see what new things the rest of the design team have used.
