Challenge #9 R is for Ribbon……

Here is your change to dig real deep and show us at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers what you can create using ribbon. I was kind of stumped as I altered a coil book using ribbons on the coils and that was the extent of my ribbon brain power, I did manage to put together a cute card.
IMG_2173
My image was a freebie from Lacy Sunshine Challenge blog, when you play one challenge you get the next challenge image free alas I didn’t get it done for that challenge but will try again. I thought her dress looked like ribbons and had planned on putting real ribbons on it but it just didn’t look right. so just added a bow to her hair and the bow of turquoise rope, i like how it frames her. The doily is from a package I bought at a yard sale for 10 cents. I used the MS doily edge punch for the white strip at the bottom.
IMG_2174
Close up of the bow in her hair.

IMG_2177
I brought three embossing folders and only oval dies, I used the tulip border folder and my Nellie Snellen plain ovals.

Here is a close up of the bunny and his lemonade, I coloured the fish on the tube, the duckie and the lemonade with spica glitter pens.
IMG_2179

My favourite is Flora which is a retired stamp from Stampin’up and I’m sure it is the first one I bought. The rose stamp is from Magenta and I picked it up at a yard sale. The ovals were cut with Nellie Snellen ovals.

Sentiments is the New Challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

Happy Memorial Day to my American friends and followers and Happy Monday to everyone else.
The new challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad is to use a Sentiment there is a Guest Designer Spot for the winner of the challenge, It’s a great way to see if you would like to become a member of a design team. I am creating at the cottage this week and I have limited supplies with me so decided to make a very simple Z fold card with the sentiment on the front. I realized while making my card I only brought black and purple ink with me and only the stamps that I thought I could need and what I brought was not enough, I would have loves a flourish or two or my coral ink to make some flowers but I am really pleased on how the card turned out.
IMG_2167
I saw this tutorial on Tracy’s Treasures, she has a video on how she made her Z fold cards.
IMG_2168
The cardstock is Cameo Coral and the patterned paper is from the Mariposa Matstack from DCWV.I love this pad it has beautiful butterfly papers in it. I cut the ovals with my spellbinders large ovals and the sentiment is from Stampin’up The inside verse is from Hero Arts.
IMG_2169
The finished inside of the card.
I am entering this in Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned paper challenge for May.

No colouring on my image, I felt it looked better just as is, I printed the digi on Very Vanilla cardstock, my first attempt I tried sponging and it didn’t go well. I cut the scalloped opening in the Neutral dsp from Stampin’ up (had it for a long time) then the black was cut with a plain oval, both are Nellie Snellen dies.
IMG_2155
Here are my pearls, they were white pearls I coloured with a spectrum noir warm brown marker, very dark brown too.

IMG_2159
I have left the inside blank as I like to have some generic cards that can be used for birthday, get well or thinking of you, just add a sentiment and it’s good to go.

C is for Crap…..Why did I buy that?

At the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers the Alphabet soup challenges continue. C is for Crap is challenge #8 and it’s a fun one. You know you have things you bought and once home wondered why you bought it. I have a lot of things I wonder why as well, embellishments, I have hinges, ribbon buckles, metal mesh? and it’s sad I have stamps and dies that have never been used yet. I think I m taking a drawer and putting all of the never been used items in it and bring them out one at a time until I have made something with them.. Well what I used has been tried before but it was a disaster all I did was waste cardstock so when I saw it sitting on the scrapbooking unit I knew I wanted to give it a try again. Here is what I have used…

pdetail_129554571540000000_42-70001

I saw a tutorial on how to make a lattice frame on Becca’s Bits and just had to have  the punch and  it wasn’t as easy as Becca made it look. It made  a 5 1/4 inch square card. Here is how it turned out.

IMG_2152

the lattice was punched in GP white and layered on a 5 1/4 inch base. the image is from House Mouse Designs I really like creating with these cute little guys, they were coloured with copics and the button brads are from my stash.

Here is the finished inside, the sentiment is from Stampin’up

Challenge #151….Sing it to Me

If you are looking for my Clear it Out Tuesday post scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash this week is Sing it to Me, you make a card inspired by a song. If you are joining in the fun please make note of the song that inspired your card, that way we don’t have to be guessing. Rules on the challenge blog say Happy Birthday is not an option, it’s way too easy.
IMG_2140
I was thinking about what songs could inspire me and while sorting through my House Mouse stamps I saw this one and immediately thought of Raindrops keep falling on my head which is a 1969 song sang by B. J. Thomas. This song was specifically written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach for the 1969 film, .
The embossing folder I used is Floral Fantasy, haven’t use it in ages. I coloured the image with a combination of Spectrum Noir and copics.
IMG_2142..
Just a close up of the little mouse, doesn’t he have a cute little face gotta love the little rodent they are so much fun. You can find a whole collection of them at House Mouse Designs

The Cheerful Stamp Pad invites you to Challenge 86!!

Good Monday morning, I hope your weather has been as fabulous as ours has been the last few days, what a beautiful Mother’s Day  we had on Sunday. Challenge #86 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad is a Bouquet of Flowers and the sponsor is Lunagirl Images
I received this coloured cornucopia of flowers from Luna Girl and decided it needed to be made into an ATC (artist trading card) I love making these tiny works of art, they measure 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches and usually have a couple of layers and an embellishment and if you are swapping them they have a theme. Here is mine…….
IMG_2146
Most of this ATC was made from scraps, some that were just sitting on the desk. I  added some stickles to the image flowers, the sentiment is from Hero Arts, I have a few of these mini wood mount stamps and they are perfect for tiny spaces. The flowers were from off a stem I bought at the dollar store, probably for something else.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can find a bit of time to join the fun at The Cheerful Stamp Pad for the Bouquet of Flowers challenge.

My Style Challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday……

I’m not sure how our “leader” figures out the challenges but this one at Clear it Out Tuesday is a real mind bending one, at least it was to me since I really don’t think I have a “style”. The challenge is to make a project in YOUR style (e.g. CAS, shabby chic etc) The stash item is your favourite product. Don’t forget to give us a hint or come right out and tell us what you think your style is.
The sponsor for this fabulous  challenge is Bugaboo Stamps, they have stamps for every style, check them out and they are really quick with the delivery of the digis. My pick from our sponsor is Oval Roses and as I said before not sure what my style is I know I don’t do CAS or shabby chic or distressed either. I like lots of layers and my favourite thing is OVALS. I have 5 sets and another on order, I used my Nellie Snellen ovals, I like them because they are a bit more narrow than the Spellbinders. I kept it plain as I wanted the roses to shine.
IMG_2126
My go to colour for cards seems to be pink although my favourite colour is purple. I also love the Textile cuttlebug embossing folder to me it says elegance. I also love butterflies and used the cheery lynn exotic butterfly die.
IMG_2127
Here is a close up of one of the butterflies.
IMG_2128
The inside is ready for a sentiment, I left it blank until I decide if it will be a birthday, get well or even an anniversary card, I think the image is perfect for any of them.
I am entering this in:
Catch the Bug Challenge Blog..Anything goes
Thanks for spending some time on my blog today and I would love to see Your Style for the challenge. Check out the rules at Clear it Out and while you are there check out the “style” of all the design team.

The Embossing Powder Challenge #85 Continues

Welcome to another Monday challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad one week is over but you still have another week to join the fun of embossing on your project.  The sponsor is Stamp On It for this challenge.
IMG_2110
This is the card I made for the challenge and for a friend that has had surgery, I’m hoping it cheered her up. I saw the design on one my favourite blogs, Frenchie Stamps and was posted by her friend in Canada. I was so excited as I had everything to make this card. Stamp set from Stampin’up called Secret Garden in hand but the dies that go with it were not where they should have been so after searching for a while I decided to go old school and fussy cut them.  The flowers were stamped on vellum with versamark watermark and embossed in pewter embossing powder then coloured with SU’s in colour markers on the reverse side from the embossing. The crocheted mat was made by Jessi, isn’t it just a beautiful backdrop for the flowers click on her name and check them out she has them for sale. Although you can’t see it very well the strip of turquoise is dry embossed with butterflies.
IMG_2112
Inside of the card before i stamped the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog today come back again soon you are always welcome.
