Challenge #393 ~~ Use Chipboard

Donna picked the theme for the "chipboard" challenge at Shopping Our Stash. I am really not a chipboard user, I really don't know how to create with it, last year I did chipboard letters so wanted some thing different so using the backing from an old paper pad (the chipboard is thicker) I cut some ornaments. Here is my card with details.

My card is 4 X 9 1/4 it fits in a business envelope and it's extremely difficult to take a picture of it especially with the pewter ornaments. I cut the three ornaments out of the "chip board" gave each a layer of white gesso (and myself too) I embossed the ornaments in pewter (stampin'up) and attached them with pop dots and silver cord also from stampin'up, both being at least 5 years old. The white layer was dry embossed with the swiss dots cuttlebug folder.

Happy Holidays is from Neat and Tangled (chosen as a prize) and cut out of some silver scraps.

Finished inside of the card with a Stampendous sentiment embossed in pewter.

I am entering this in:
Jingle Belles Rock ~~ We Three Kings

Happy Little Stampers ~~ Anything goes with dies.

Another Christmas/Holiday card finished for my stash, I'm falling behind with my monthly quota I've made for myself, summer is coming and lots of time at the cottage for crafting, until then I need to make one a week.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the main blog and see what chipboard creations the rest of the design team came up with.

25 Days of Christmas Tags ~~ Day 16

I'm still caught up!! although Friday will be one busy day.  Day 16 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags has some really really great tags to choose from. For today's tag I chose Tracey McNeelys tri-fold tag, I don't have that fantastic tri-fold tag die so I just winged it.

For my "joy" I used some thin chipboard letters I got from Just Enough Stuff as a prize for a challenge on the Jingle Belles. I coloured them with a copic marker.

Now the tag opened.

Here is Tracey's tag.

It's Saturday!!! Time for a New Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!!

I can't believe that it's been two weeks, wow time is just flying by. The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers has an easy peasy challenge this time (unless you are me and chipboard challenged) it's C is for Chipboard so go dig in that hoard of chipboard pieces you just had to have and create something for us. I have letters I bought and haven't a clue what to do with them although I had some ideas but they were pretty big for what I wanted so I went with plan "b".

I won a prize at the Jingle Belles Rock last year and the sponsor was "just enough stuff" , in the prize package was a bundle of thin chipboard music letters and numbers. These were perfect. If you are in the market for vintage ephemera check Lauren's etsy store.  I checked out some designs on Pinterest and saved one from Betsy Veldman of Paper Crafts Connection and CASE'd it just because I loved the banners.

I used some oxide distress inks in worn lipstick and wilted violet on my teflon mat and dipped the letters in it just to give them some colour.

I elevated the letters for some dimension

Sorry my project was too cute to snark but I did carry the banner theme to the inside.

We have a sponsor for this challenge!! Zoe from Make it Crafty is offering $10.00  voucher for the Queen of Snark
This link takes you to the embellishments and now I want to shop!!!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have some time to make a chipboard project so I have some ideas for the next time.
Head over to the MAIN BLOG and check out the rest of the design team's  projects (there is a lot of snark on them)

Shopping our Stash #248 ~~ Chip off the old Block!!

Looking for my Clear it Out post scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash is giving us one really great challenge this week....chip off the old block which means use chipboard.  Now I have not had a lot of experience with using chipboard so this challenge (as with most) I didn't know where to go with it then I saw a chipboard snowflake, wow there is where I would start. I'll explain more as I show photos.

As you see the snowflakes are glittered.....so am I and the table, the floor and anything else that was in a 3 foot radius. I first taped soowang tape on a piece of cereal box, home made chipboard, then put the turquoise glitter on it of course it isn't glitter ritz so it flaked off ..... a lot so in to the bathroom grabbed my hairspray (never use it for my hair) and sprayed it. Well the "real" chipboard snowflake was a bit more trouble, I versamarked it then used heat and stick then glitter, duh the chip board colour showed through shoulda painted it white.(insert head slap here) so I embossed it in white then did the whole thing all over again. Whew what a job, now I have more glitter all over.  When hubby goes for walks he often (like a crow) picks up shiny things and the center of the snowflake is an odd earring he found. The embossed layer was slated for another project but I didn't use it so SCORE!

Here is a close up of the chipboard snowflake and the recycled  earring.

Finished inside

Now I can go on with my story, the colour I wanted to use was Tempting Turquoise, I went to where I keep my cardstock and that slot was EMPTY, panic then I found one scrap of the colour in my scrap folder and voila enough to do the front and the inside, Not over yet....I find a full package that hadn't made it to the rack.

I really need to enter this in:

Jingle Belles Rock Celebrating Earth day by recycling something (earring)

Thanks for joining me today and dig out that chipboard and show us what you can do with it.

It’s Saturday and time for a new Challenge….it’s a Thing

Challenge #149 at the Drunken Stampers the theme is THING and the thing is CHIPBOARD!!! Team Yellow Canary has lots of inspiration on the blog so don’t forget to head over and check them out!!
DS149
Chipboard is not one of my usual things to work with, I have some coasters (from the bar) and some chipboard letters as well as some odd buckles and other pieces too but really don’t know how to utilize them. I have been thinking for two weeks on how to make something work, the first two ideas went out the window, I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card and once I decided on the stamp it went together quickly. Here is what I came up with…….

The stamp I used is one of the first stamps I bought when I started stamping, it is from Hero Arts  and is called Sketch Snowman. I embossed the white layer with a cuttlebug folder from the Winter Wonderland set, the ribbon was off a gift package, I knew it would come in handy one day. lol.

Here is a close up of the chipboard piece I used. I tried to paint it with acrylic silk paint but it just beaded up then realized it was shiny and wouldn’t stick so I got out my trusty Bic markers and covered the buckle with the red ink, it turned out better than I thought it would, it looks shiny and because of the pattern on the chipboard it give dimension to it. So now you have seen what I have done and have checked out the other Yellow Canaries work it’s your turn to join the fun at the Drunken Stampers for the Theme/chipboard challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today and come visit again soon.
