It's a Christmas Platypus!!

It's a Critter challenge at the Jingle Belles!!! And I picked an unusual critter for my card, a Platypus and a Christmas one too. The image is a digital image from Mel Jen's Designs and they are not long in business, I received a lot of awesome images from them when they sponsored "Clear it Out Tuesday".

Now isn't he just the most adorable Platypus you ever saw, he is sure not letting his candy cane get out of his sight. Shiny red posterboard scrap used for the scalloped oval and layer. Punches are from Stampin''up. Merry Christmas is from Hero Arts. Patterned paper have no idea just one I saw some where and of course bought 2, always good to have a spare.

Close up of the critter, his hat fur has a wind of stella on it, a well as the swirls and holly.

More Stripes and Stars..............

Adding one last card to the Jingle Belles Rock challenge Stars &/or Stripes Forever. Last week's sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches was a great one for using scraps and I had a few scraps left from the other two cards I made, one using stars and one using stripes so today I'm posting  one that uses both. The sketch challenge is over but I needed to use it anyway.

I must admit my image was already coloured in the "parts box" must have been designated for a challenge that expired before I got it done, and it was perfect to use with the scraps leftover from the stripes and stars cards. I do love Fluffles and boy does she get into trouble. Fluffles was sold by Stampendous although retired some have been brought back in "mini" size in clear.

Finished the inside with a sentiment from Impression Obsessions and a scrap of patterned paper.

Under the Sun, Moon and Stars

A new challenge at Shopping Our Stash has started and for the next two weeks we would like to see the Sun, the Moon, the Stars one or all of them on a project.  I had an idea and made a background with some oxide inks. The die set I used is three pieces now I would have loved to use the village but I was afraid to mess up the whole card as I only had one background.

I'm still in the Christmas mode, I have had this die set for close to a year and never been used. The shepards were cut out of shimmer white and the star out of glitter paper although you can't see the sparkle. I also made this a "mail-able" card which I'm trying to do more often but is not easy.

Rummaging through my supply of sentiments I now realize I don't have any religious stamps so for the few I make and send I will have to print them off on the computer.  The sentiment is really old it's from the Artful Stamper when they were in London Ontario, at least 10 years ago. I also added a gold star for interest on the inside.

I'm entering this in a newlyA found challenge:

I can see Clearly ~~ Card #2

I had planned this card last week but life happened and it didn't get done, remember Monday's blog about working on "this" card and giving up on it for that day, well it's done without any errors.

Anyone that has made an acetate cards knows how hard it is to get a good picture so you will have to trust me it's really acetate. Shall we go back to Monday when I started this card all went well with the colouring and layering, then (I since found out not to score it so well) I tried to put the image on the inside of the acetate, well we all know how well soowang tape grabs in the wrong place so peeled it off and because I scored so well it then stuck to the front. Second half of the acetate sheet, scored lightly, taped the image again, set it perfectly in place ....going well isn't it. Creased the score line and was so happy. Decided to apply some gold sticker trim to the front, got the bottom strip in place, snipped it off and cut the acetate, dang. Since I only had one piece of acetate I peeled the image off AGAIN and taped the back AGAIN and brought it home. So happy how it turned out though.

Second picture of the card so it shows the acetate better. I don't know the maker of the stamp as a friend sent me the image a couple of years ago.

Finally!!! a Card for the Jingle Belles Rock Challenge ~~ I can see Clearly Now.

Well I didn't have any time last week to make any cards for the challenge and most of the weekend I was busy here at the cottage so here I am Monday morning wanting to make not one but two cards for the Jingle Belles rock. My first card became a total disaster ~~ more on that one when I finish it and blog it on Wednesday, so frustrated with that one I started the second idea I had, I chose my colours and patterned paper cut them to size so far so good and then it all went to Hell in a handbasket. Maybe I'll show you the card first and you can follow along a bit better.

As you see I chose a light blue base, first cut the circle in it then did a "palm to forehead" I didn't want a hole in it I wanted it in the patterned layer, ok into the off cut basket it went. All went well with the cutting and layering of the top layer, then I decided to put the snowman on the base, glued it down on the back, so it was on the bottom when I opened the card, ok glue hadn't set yet so peeled it off and glued it properly. I was pleased then I added shaker card pouch and the layers as everything went well. There was a minor problem when the M in Merry didn't cut and I had to do it over. I was glad I didn't plan on any fancy stuff to do on this card as I wanted the snowman to shine.

Close up of the Sunshine Stamps snowman, he is one of 4 and I use them alot.

Simply finished inside, I wanted no more errors.

Christmas is in the Bag!!!

I know, I know so many Christmas posts but there are so many challenges out there to get a jump start on the holiday season, and I've had extra time this week and a good bunch of mojo. I really like Merry Monday challenges and this past Monday really intrigued me and I had the perfect stamp for it. I hope you don't get tired of seeing my House Mouse creations because I love making them.  Right the challenge is to make a holiday card with a bag or sack on it. Oh and Crafty Hazel nut's Christmas challenge is to put a sentiment on your card. I thought of entering something old nothing new challenge at House Mouse and friends but had to go with the Anything goes section as the die I used is less than a year old, the stamp is 2009 and the rest is at least 1 year old.

This took me longer to decide what paper to use than it did to put it together.

The fur on "santa's" hat and coat is liquid pearl and the snow is done with stickles.

Finished the inside with a favourite sentiment and a scrap of patterned paper.

Thanks for visiting today and there are still more days this week to craft and more challenges to enter, so stay tuned there is always more to come.

It’s SATURDAY!!! and E is for Embellishment at SOSS

For me is really is Saturday, I totally forgot my blog post yesterday. `Note to self….do the blog post as soon as you finish the card.
Since it is the second Saturday of the month it`s time for a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers it is E for Embellishment. Now you can have as many as you want, all the same or all different but it has to be at least 2 now that is an easy challenge.

I know it`s Easter, I haven`t lost my mind that far but I really wanted to use this adorable image from House Mouse Designs. I have been trying to make a couple of Christmas cards every month. The flourish stamp is from Hero Arts the poinsettia is a boss cutz die, I did cut an extra petal to make it look fuller.

Close up of the cute little rodent. I coloured it up with my prisma colour pencils and oms, added some white opal liquid pearls on the had and snow.

A closer look at the poinsettia, I used a brad in the center for one of my embellishments. I put 11 red rhinestones on the flourish to make and even dozen for the challenge.

As you can see, I still haven`t ``dug`` out the sentiment stamps for the inside of my Christmas cards. One day I will have a marathon.
