Challenge #102 Monograms starts it’s Second Week

The second week of the cold snap continues here in SWO too, I;m getting so I don’t even want to go out, which might be good, I get more done at home. At the Cheerful Stamp Pad we start the second week of the Monograms challenge, the sponsor is Floppy Latte from Stitchy Bear Outlet. Since we were given quite a few different digis to play with it was hard to decide what to make. Last week I altered a notebook for hubby with his initial on it. This week I chose the letter D to use and I made a Gift Card Holder.

It was dumpster diving in my scrap basket and voila’ I had everything to make this gift card holder. I cut the a & d with my alpha dies from cuttlebug. I have no idea where I found the tutorial for this project but here are the measurements.
The base (I used black) 7 X 4 1/4 inches scored at 2 1/2 and 5 1/2
I added an extra layer of white as I wasn’t happy with the patterned paper on the black.
The patterned paper Cut 2 pieces 4 X 2 1/4 and one piece 4 X 1 1/4
The belly band base 9 1/2 X 1 1/8  patterned paper 4 3/8 X 1
The short flap is the bottom and you put the smaller patterned paper on it. the larger two pieces go on the front and the inside of the top flap.
Using strong narrow tape attach the sides of the small flap to make a pocket.  The belly band goes around the whole project and attaches at the back with a strong tape, this will slide  off and on. Then put the small strip of patterned paper on the front of the belly band and decorate.

This shows you the inside after you take the belly band off. I have a Tim’s Card in there for Dad that likes to join his pals for coffee. It could be used for Father’s Day or a Birthday.
Well this is a longer post than I planned but if you want a fairly simple and easy gift card holder this is the  one to try.  I hope you will show us how you use monograms.
I would like to enter this in  these challenges:
