Silver and Gold

How many of you are singing the Burl Ives song Silver and Gold from the Christmas Classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? I know I was.  I still like to watch those vintage Christmas movies takes me back to the time my children were little and we watched all the movies. On to my Silver and Gold card.

I seemed to have gone pretty CAS with this (shock) I cut a Gina Marie wreath die out of both silver and gold metallic posterboard (len's mills) I also cut the Peace from gold and two extra white die cuts to give it some height, I flat attached it to white/silver shimmer paper (Michaels) then on a layer of silver and one of gold then on a 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 inch square base.

This certainly isn't the easiest to photograph but it shows the two different colour wreaths.

Finished the inside with a gold edge sticker and a sentiment.

I'm entering this in:

Triple Threat Time!!!

It's Triple Threat Time at Shopping Our Stash, easy peasy unless you take my route, Three of something on your project, three images, three sentiments, three enamel dots, you get the idea. I have made a mini slimline scene card with three triple threats.

Everything but the base of this card was made with large scraps and many, many snippits of white, sure did get rid of quite a few scraps on this card. I added some snow around two of the kitties with white opal liquid pearls.

I finished the inside with a favourite sentiment from Hero Arts. I sure have gotten a lot of mileage out of it, I used another kitty and a snowball pile.

And a Surprise, I decided I had to give equal blog time for the puppies in the set.

I used the same layout as I did with the kitties but changed up the colours.

I also used the same sentiment from Hero Arts and of course a snowball pile with a puppy.

Although none of the images were snippits they were all stamped, coloured and die cut out of many small pieces of white cardstock (and I still have a huge pile left)
So with that said I'm adding it to:

Christmas Kickstart Challenge ~~ #56 Christmas Snippits

Show us Your Pussy Cats ~~ #72 Furrything Goes

Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge ~~ #569 Anything goes (option glitter)

Coral Rose

On Friday afternoon a group of retired ladies get together for bowling, most are friends that worked together at Woolco/Walmart, no prizes, no pressure the only thing we strive for is reaching a 100 count in pins for the game, we do have over-achievers that double that goal, a lot of laughs and a great afternoon with friends. The one of the staff has had surgery and I made this card for all of us to sign and have it delivered to her. I love my ancient Stippled Rose stamp from Stampin'up, it makes for a quick card in a hurry.

I really had trouble picking a colour for the rose, I'm sure I went though the rainbow trying to decide as my favourite colour is purple but not everyone is a fan so teal/turquoise came to mind but when I sat down with my markers picking out colours  I spotted the coral and it was decided.
All layers were cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched and scalloped rectangle dies. The Thinking of You is a sticker sentiment from Starform, in my stash for eons, the small sentiment is perfect as not to overshadow the focal point.

The sentiment I found on a verse page and thought it was perfect.

Beautiful Baubles

Well only one beautiful bauble but I managed to get another card done for the Jingle Belles Challenge, using a rather large "snippit" I found in an envelope while unpacking a few things,

This was made with leftovers from the first time I cut the die and I cut all three of them three times, so had lots of pieces to keep track of. I use one set on a csrd and the center from this one for a tag you can see it HERE. I layered it on some sparkly cardstock and added a ornament topper from another die set, I tried to get a picture of the card that when you look down at it the snowflake looks like it's floating.

Finished the inside with some navy cardstock and silver lines from Hot off the Press.

I am entering this in:

Jingle Belles Challenge ~~ Ornamental My Dear Watson

Christmas Kickstart Challenge ~~ #56 Christmas Snippits

It's Still Ornamental My Dear Watson.

I managed to get a second card done for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge, it's a fun set of dies from Memory Keepers

I made a mini slimline card, would like it to have been a regular slimline but I had already planned the paper and embossing folder.  The ornaments were cut out of blue metallic posterboard (dollar tree) the back was cut out of glitter paper from a $$ store The patterned paper from a paper pad I just bought at Dollarama. Merry Christmas sticker is from Starform stickers and the silver cord are stickers from Hot Off The Press called Dazzles, which I have no idea where I bought them as I'm sure they are over 10 years old.

A closer look at the glitter and the paper. when I cut the one die there were dots cut so I used them on the centers of the snowflakes.

I love this vertical sentiment stamp it fits the mini slim line cards perfectly and I added some patterned paper and a few of the stickers from the Starform package.

I am adding this to:

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Ornamental My Dear Watson.

And

ABC Christmas Challenge ~~ X is for Xerox 3 of the same dies used.

Thanks for looking today and one more Holiday card ready for mailng.

November 15th and Time for a New Challenge at A Tiny Craft (ATC)

November is here and it's getting much colder, brrrr but you expect it when you live in Canada. With Armistice Day just over A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge wanted to honour the Poppy with a challenge.

On the 11th I listened to the service on the radio and heard the Harvard planes do their fly-over

Poppies make beautiful ATCs, I am hoping that my great-grand children will enjoy a sport card holder page with each of my atcs I make for this challenge, so far there has been a monthly theme that co-ordinates with the time of year. Here is what I made for my Poppy ATC.

There is definitely a story here, My plan started out with using a Hero Arts Clear Poppy stamp, but it was not in any of the obvious places, so I decided it's in that "safe" place we all have. Then I found a Poppy embossing folder from Stampin'up, not even sure I have ever used it well 3 attempts with using the folder were a fail. then I went to my 2004 "real flowers" stamps from Hero Arts. I bought them back when I first started stamping.  I then decided to stress myself even more by digging up a technique I have done in eons. Cracked Glass. Layered on black added some gold stickers and called it a day.

Here is a closer look at the cracks, I didn't follow through with the last step of rubbing a dark ink over the image for it to seep into the cracks then buff with a soft cloth, the jury is still out on this step.  There is a great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for the technique.

Another closer look at one of the better "cracked" ATCs. Adding the dark ink would emphasize the cracks better.

I am adding this to:

ATC's with Heart ~~ Everything Goes

Thanks for stopping by to check out the new challenge at A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge and don't forget to head over to the MAIN BLOG and see the gorgeous poppy cards the design team and guest designer have made for your inspiration, then make your own Poppy ATC card or coin for us to ooh and ahh over it.  Remember the fail? one of them was not too sad looking so I might just play around and finish it, so stay tuned.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Winston Churchill

Naughty or NIce?

Hello readers I hope all is well in your part of the country, I hope you are staying in and crafting and staying safe.  Since I missed the last SoSS challenge (life got in the way of crafting)  all my craft supplies are home from the cottage but not in there proper places so it really takes me three times as long to make a a card as it usually would. For the next two weeks the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge is

N is for Naughty

Here is what I made for the challenge.

I used a digi image from Dr. Digi to make my scene, The sentiment was die cut out of a sample shiny red cardstock sample,  I then added an Eyelet Outlet wreath brad, wood floor was a scrap of crumb cake cardstock stamped with Versa fine sepia ink with Stampin'up woodgrain stamp.

Here is the naughty list, that is Linsey's name at the bottom they Y is missing.

I used an appropriate Stampendous cling mount stamp for the inside

I'm entering this in;

Alphabet Challenge ~~ P is for Patterned paper

It's Ornamental, My Dear Watson....

It's a new challenge at the Jingle Belles and since my hair appointment was rescheduled I had s bit of free time to make a card for the challenge and get it done before the linky closed, well surprise I'm early, wow, it doesn't end until next Wednesday.

I was inspired by a teamie's sunset scene you will find it HERE although I think I was a little more heavy handed when blending. I uses Gently Falling embossing folder for the background on navy stardream cardstock the ornament is silver and I layered it with two heavy cardstock layers, The Merry also cut out of Silver posterboard and 3 additional layers were cut to elevate it .

Since I kput Merry on the front with no room for Christmas I added "and bright" ancient rub on from Stampin'up and a sentiment from Stampendous.

I'm adding this to:

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Ornamental My Dear Watson

Just Us Girls ~~ #609 Word Week Merry

Happy Little Stampers ~~ Anything Goes with Dies

Thanks for stopping by today and there is still time to make more ornament cards.

Let It Snow!!!

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash, it's #458 and a Tic/Tac/Toe Board. How much fun is that. So many choices.

So many choices and the one I planned on doing didn't work out at all, but using the same 3 yo stamp I make made card using the center line, embossing folder, Stamps over 3 years old and a Slim line card, I made a mini slimline as it suited the snowman stamp I used. I did some searching as the stamp doesn't have a date on it and the first time I used it was in 2016. The embossing folder is Gently Falling from Stampin;up.

Let it Snow is from Elizableth Craft Designs and was die cut out of silver posterboar, some scraps of white for the snow hills and the tree is out of my "parts" box.

As I said I was going for another "line" which involved smooshing so I still used the smooshed background. You can see the embossing and the gorgeous silver sentiment.

More trees from the "parts" box and the sentiment is from Stampabilities 2005, it qualifies for over 4 years old too.

I'm entering this in:

Christmas Kickstart Challenge ~~  Christmas Snippits.

ABC Christmas Challenge ~~ W is for Whimsical

Pixie's Snippits Playground ~~ the trees, snowbanks, front and inside as well.

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to have a peek at what the rest of the design team have made.

November and a New Challenge!!

It's November and time for a new challenge at the Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge Anything Goes + optional Make a Scene.

I love making scenes for cards, I mae halloween ones this year and I have a few stamps to make into scenes but for this one I use a very old favourite of mine from Penny Black, I use it at least once every Christmas season and this is the time.

I have been working on this card for weeks it seems, the houses die cut in my "parts" box, I cut three light standards to glue together and the image stamped then the transition from cottage to home happened.  Time to get everything together, where are my light die cuts? can't find them cut 3 more next morning I sit to craft nd what is sitting in a basket on my rolly cart? the dies, well now I have spares. I cloured some vellum to put between two of the layers of lights. Made the sunset background, cloured the penguins with spica glitter pens, fussy cut and popped them up. Layerd it on a piece of metallic posterboard (dollar tree) then added that to a 3 1/4 X 6 1/4 base to make a Mini Slimline Card.

Close up of the super cute carollers.

For the inside I used a strip of the blue metallic posterboard and a Stampendous Cling mount sentiment.

Couple of Challenges I'm entering this in:

Christmas Kickstart ~~ Christmas Snippits (die cut houses and vellum strip from parts box)

Want to ramp up your Christmas Card stash please join us at Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge Anything goes Optional make a scene. Looking forward to seeing your creations.
