Another Winter Card? Yes!! Catch the Bug want to see ‘em.

When I saw the January Picture Inspiration I knew I wanted to play along, it has taken me a while to get things organized, I have had the image printed for at least a week but finally got colouring last weekend. The challenge ends soon so I need to get this posted. Almost everything was in my “odd” box, it’s the place where I put my leftovers from die cutting, so I just added some patterned paper and the Merry Christmas, voila’ it was done. The sentiment was also in the scrap box and the red on in inside also.
IMG_2640
I added some snowflakes and red rhinestones and white opal liquid pearl to the hats.
IMG_2641
Close-up of the super cute birds
IMG_2642
I used a leftover scrap of patterned paper and a strip of red to the Top Note die cut for the inside sentiment.

Let it Snow!!!

Well we don’t have a lot of snow but I understand it will be arriving tomorrow, that is if the meteorologist is right, but the challenge over at Meljen’s Designs is “Let it SNOW”, it has been a while since I made a ‘winter” card so it wasn’t too hard, the image was already printed in my “already printed box” so I coloured it up and this is what I designed.
IMG_2643
The white layer is embossed with a cuttlebug snowflake folder. The sketch came to my in-box this morning from Tuesday Morning Sketches and I knew it was perfect for the image.

This is Sketch #285

Shopping our Stash want you to make a Love/Valentine card, Valentines day is only a couple of weeks away and you need to make your Honey a card so I hope you will join us for the fun,  My card fold is almost a total case of a Christmas card I received from snarky sister Lee. I  left the length but made the card so it fit in an A2 envelope. Have a look………
IMG_2636
My image is a House Mouse Designs stamp, The flourish has been in my scrap box for at least a year, the pearls and lace are years old too and the buckle is probably 5 years old even the cardstock is  about 13 years old, it’s a 12 X 12 paper pad I bought at our old Wal-mart before they built a super store and moved. Now that is shopping my stash to the limit.
IMG_2637
Detailed picture of the buckle embellishment.

The inside for the sentiment.

The measurements for the fold are 4 1/4 X 11 7/8 Score at 4 1/2 and 9 7/8. the buckle I used is fairly heavy to hold the flap down., the 2 inch flap is on the right and the left flap goes on top of it.

It’s Challenge Time again at Clear it Out Tuesday!!!

Hello family, friends and followers, if you live on the Eastern seaboard I hope you have battened down the hatches, looks like a good storm approaching. Now you will have time to join us at Clear it Out Tuesday for our NEW challenge, the theme is Thank you and the stash item is Stitching real or faux. the sponsor for the challenge is Melonheadz Illustrating.  I chose the girl in the polka dot dress for my project and I hunted down my sewing machine  to do a feather stitch around the image and the patterned paper layer. The most difficult part was threading the needle oh yes finding the box of thread spools.  Here is my finished card.
IMG_2630
I used the sketch from Cheerful Sketches which ends later today.
IMG_2631
This shows the real stitching on both pieces.
IMG_2632
The flowers on the corner are from my stash and added the green rhinestones both flowers and gems are ancient.

Week2 of Valentines continues at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

I don’t send a lot of Valentines and I didn’t make a traditional “red” heart valentine but did make the flowers pink. I’m still looking for the few valentine stamps I have so I just added a cute strip of candy hearts to the sentiment spot. The sponsor is Sweet Pea Stamps,  I like to go surfing to see what they have to offer.  There are rubber stamps as well as digital ones, and quite  few different artists. This week I chose Blossom by Theresa Sherman. It is a beautiful image with lots of flowers and a butterfly.
IMG_2633
I made an easel card using Labels 8 spellbinder dies and Decorative Labels 8, I added some spica glitter pens to the flowers and bracelet but it really doesn’t show in the picture.
IMG_2634
There is the base and the candy hearts

Here is the card standing up.
Thanks for stopping by today and head over to The Cheerful Stamp Pad and check out what the rest of the design team have for your inspiration. Hope to see your Valentines soon.

IMG_2623
I inked the background stamp with versafine vintage sepia and stamped it on kraft from recollections. layered it on bashful blue and the base is Kraft. The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches #170, the image is from House Mouse Designs.

IMG_2614
As you can see foil doesn’t photograph very well but it’s there, I also use some vellum for the sentiment. The image is a freebie from Meljen’s Design club on Facebook the challenge is open until January 31, 2015. Meljen’s images can be found HERE.

Be My Valentine challenge #103 at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

Week 1 of a Valentine challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad and the sponsor for this challenge is Sweet Pea Stamps. Oh my gosh there are some awesome digis there, it was so hard to choose one to use for this challenge. I finally settled on one from Ching-Chou Kuik called red hearts. I did colour the hearts red but I wanted to colour her up in turquoise. This is my first time colouring up one of these fairies.
IMG_2612
I made an easel card, the dies I used were Labels 8 and Decorative labels 8 and fancy labels but trimmed it to fit, then added a couple of  sparkly buttons to keep the card from closing.
IMG_2613
Such a beautiful image and fun to colour too.

All Bundled Up….

Are you as tired of Winter as I am already? I’m getting to the point I don’t want to venture out at all in this –11 C or –20 F weather. I would rather stay in and craft anyway and that’s what I have been doing!!! Clear it Out Tuesday has a new challenge for this week..challenge #61 Theme use PINK and the stash item is use Pink things.  The sponsor for this challenge is Odd Ball Art. the design team is doing freestyle for the images for the challenge. It sure is nice to play with a pretty colour for a change.
IMG_2595
I used a stamp from House Mouse Designs, as you can see the little critters are all wrapped up in the yarn keeping warm. The sketch is from the House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge, I found the 5 1/4 inch square card bases and envelopes at the dollar store for $1.50 and they came with Valentine embellishments, I used assorted patterned papers from a paper pad from Wal-Mart. The pink metal dots are from my stash. The sentiment is computer generated.
IMG_2596
Are these not the sweetest little faces you have ever seen?
IMG_2597
I have made this for the neighbours as a Winter card since I ran out of Christmas cards and time before Christmas. I know i would enjoy getting a card in the middle of January to perk me up.

Wow do I have a surprise for you!!! at the 11th hour we received our super cute, cute images from Odd Ball Art and since my blog post was already done I am just putting a post script at the end. Odd Ball Art is giving three images for the challenge prize and it's well worth it, check out the main blog as most of us did an extra for the challenge. I picked a dragonfly girl and used a sketch that just appeared on Facebook this morning how cool is that. I took a few liberties with the sketch like flipping it and putting the flowers and sentiment on the opposite side but you get the general idea.
I coloured her wings with an Atyou Spica Twinkling like Stars to give them sparkle. Now I know you want to join in the challenge to use pink.
I would like to enter this in Sketch # 90 at Atlantic Hearts challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today and don’t forget to head over to the Clear it Out Blog for all the rules on playing and while you are there check out the rest of the design team projects. they are pink and awesome.

Challenge #102 Monograms starts it’s Second Week

The second week of the cold snap continues here in SWO too, I;m getting so I don’t even want to go out, which might be good, I get more done at home. At the Cheerful Stamp Pad we start the second week of the Monograms challenge, the sponsor is Floppy Latte from Stitchy Bear Outlet. Since we were given quite a few different digis to play with it was hard to decide what to make. Last week I altered a notebook for hubby with his initial on it. This week I chose the letter D to use and I made a Gift Card Holder.
IMG_2598
It was dumpster diving in my scrap basket and voila’ I had everything to make this gift card holder. I cut the a & d with my alpha dies from cuttlebug. I have no idea where I found the tutorial for this project but here are the measurements.
The base (I used black) 7 X 4 1/4 inches scored at 2 1/2 and 5 1/2
I added an extra layer of white as I wasn’t happy with the patterned paper on the black.
The patterned paper Cut 2 pieces 4 X 2 1/4 and one piece 4 X 1 1/4
The belly band base 9 1/2 X 1 1/8  patterned paper 4 3/8 X 1
The short flap is the bottom and you put the smaller patterned paper on it. the larger two pieces go on the front and the inside of the top flap.
Using strong narrow tape attach the sides of the small flap to make a pocket.  The belly band goes around the whole project and attaches at the back with a strong tape, this will slide  off and on. Then put the small strip of patterned paper on the front of the belly band and decorate.
IMG_2599
This shows you the inside after you take the belly band off. I have a Tim’s Card in there for Dad that likes to join his pals for coffee. It could be used for Father’s Day or a Birthday.
Well this is a longer post than I planned but if you want a fairly simple and easy gift card holder this is the  one to try.  I hope you will show us how you use monograms.
I would like to enter this in  these challenges:

It’s Saturday and Time for W is for WOW it’s cold!!!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers has a new challenge for you,  challenge #25 W is for WOW it’s cold!!! (and it sure is here in Canada) Make a winter themed card.
IMG_2592
Here I am cosy in my warm house looking out the window at the awesome winter scene, I’m hoping it looks like wallpaper and wainscoting, with a brown chair rail. I didn’t stamp and colour the scene, my daughter gave me a notecard and said “ I think you could do something with this” well seems to me it was a challenge and I took advantage of it. Here is the notecard I started with.
IMG_2591
I have never altered a bought card before and it was fun deciding how to make it mine.
IMG_2593
Close up through the window, I put some clear acrylic to make it look like glass and popped it up on 3d Zots.
IMG_2594
I have decided this is a Thank You card I am giving to a neighbour that kindly gave us a container of home made sugar cookies. It was a tradition his Mom started and he hand delivered to a few of the neighbours.

I would like to enter this in Crafty Gals Corner challenge #1 Anything goes & blog hop. They are the new kid on the challenge block so check them out.

Thanks for stopping by today and we would like to see your Winter themed card. Just add it to the link at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, while you are there check out what my team mates have done, some have some snark on them too.
