Shopping Our Stash #221 ~~ Wooden it be Nice

Looking for my Clear it Out post, scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash has a new challenge and I love it ~~ Wooden it be Nice (use wood - veneer, letters, paper, patterned paper) I had so many ideas, I'm not sure what veneer is but I have woodgrain stamps and some interesting images. The one I used for the challenge is from Gingerloft at Stitchy Bear Designs. I also got to make another Christmas card.

I love this door image, simple to colour and it really looks much better IRL (in real life) The tiny cardinal is from another stamp and is the perfect size for this wreath. I added a small red bow and used white opal liquid pearls for the snow..

Close up of the wreath.

Finished inside with a wood grain background stamp and brushed corduroy distress ink, the sentiment is a die cut from Impression Obsession.

Thanks for stopping by today and we would love to see your "wood" creations on our challenge blog.

Clear it Out Tuesday's challenge ~~ Things With Wings

The theme of the challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday is Things with Wings and the Stash item you must use to qualify is GLITTER.  The sponsor for the challenge is DeeDee's Designs, check them out you can try before you buy and they have such super cute images.  Well there are a lot of things with wings, fairies, birds, angels and even lady bugs. Use your imagination and join us for the challenge but don't forget the glitter.

Even though it is still September I'm working on my Christmas stash of cards so I chose this awesome cardinal on a pine bough. The glitter is on the pine cones and branch.

The finished inside using the topnote and some scraps of patterned paper and red too.  The sentiment is from Stampin'up.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will gather up your things with wings and join the fun.

I am a WINNER!!!

In August, prompted by a good friend of mine that loves my creations, I entered 8 greeting cards in the Fall Fair in Woodstock. I sort of dragged my feet I really didn't think I had cards good enough to enter. Of course my friend pressed on, bringing me the paperwork to enter and I didn't want to disappoint her.  The cards I entered were Graduation, Birthday, Get Well, Thinking of You, Sympathy, Happy New Year, Christmas and I entered a Halloween card in the category of "anything not listed"

The top 5 won first place, along with the money from the fair board I won 5 $10.00 gift certificates from Len's Mills Store in Woodstock. I also won two seconds and a third.

Thanks for visiting today I hope your week is fabulous.

Shopping Our Stash wants to See Your Smile!!!

Shopping Our Stash  has a very interesting challenge this week!!! Challenge #220 is Show Us Your Smile - an image with a smile or you can use the word Smile. ETA: or laugh/laughter. Pretty much any smiley words.

On Thursday last week I started feeling a bit under the weather well by the time Friday came I didn't go bowling, I went to bed and slept almost three hours but woke up disoriented I still had to pack the items I needed to make my project for the challenge, I packed for the wrong challenge and to top it all off I left my glasses at home, I need them to craft I put out the word I was bowing out of the challenge. So sitting on my desk was  some washi tape so Pinterest to the rescue.....I looked up what I could do with the tape and voila here is my offering for the challenge.

I had found this happy face washi tape at dollarama, I really haven't a clue how to use it which is why I went to Pinterest for ideas. I made two Artist trading cards using the washi tape and a couple of sentiments.

The sentiment on this ATC is "So Many Smiles...."

The sentiment on the second ATC is "....Begin with You"

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to Shopping Our Stash Blog and check out the rules and see what great projects the rest of the team has made, then head to your craft room and dig our you "Smile" stamps and Show us your Smile.

P is for Punk ~~ Steam Punk that is!!!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers  new challenge is P is for Punk ~~ Steam Punk, I know there are a lot of steam punk fans out there, here not so much a fan. I struggle everytime I have to do one for a challenge. I have all kinds of embellishments (at home) so here at the cottage I had to improvise. I used a Steam Punk image from Lacy Sunshine stamps I won from one of their challenges and I picked it because I knew it would come in handy one day.

I used a vanilla card base, added some patterned paper that I thought looked kinda punky? the lace at the top is a peel and stick I bought at the dollar store. the clock face is real, hubby had one that didn't work so had him take it apart for crafting.

One of my friends had a profile picture and I sort of copied the colours from it. I added rhinestones to the three small watch cogs.

More of the patterned paper and a Birthday sentiment,

Thanks for visiting today and if you love Steam Punk even if you don't just make a project and enter it an our Snarky Sister's Challenge Blog.

Reminder Alert!!!! Shopping Our Stash and the Jingle belles challenge blogs have joined forces.

The Jingle Belles challenge blog is committed  to help you take the pressure off the Christmas season by giving challenges to make your holiday cards.  Shopping Our Stash is joining them in the fun for this challenge. I'm all about getting a jump start on my Christmas/Holiday cards and I brought a few seasonal stamps with me to the cottage, if I can remember to tune into the challenge at the Jingle Belles I will be ahead of the game. Here is my reminder card using a few things that haven't seen the light of day for a while.

I used a doily die which is quite the ordeal to cut, back and forth, then turn and run a few more times after that is done there is the "picking" .  I love my little mousie stamps and of course have a collection, this is one of my favs, it's so versatile.  Warm Winter Wishes is an ancient stamp from Impression Obsession and also one of my favs. The lace for the bow I found while doing walk through Dollarama, looking for something else of course. The lace is a three pack and comes in white and cream.

Close up of Maxwell in the ornament, I use star dust stickles on the hat and snow.

I even got to finish the inside with a stamp from More Merry Messages from Stampin'up

Thanks for joining me today and please join both blogs for the challenge, it's a "twofer"

It's an Adoption Card

Hello friends, family and blog readers, the weather has been very nice the last couple of days, so much better than the weekend. It's nice at Turkey Point during the week, quiet with only a handful of sunbathers.  A couple of weeks ago one of my snarky sisters told us they had just adopted a new family member, a beautiful black dog, not sure if he is a Lab, I must remember to ask.  I decided to make a congratulatory card and I mailed it before the Labour day long weekend, well CPO was terribly slow as it took almost two weeks to travel there, I could have driven it myself in an hour. I was sure it was lost. I was very happy when  I got the word it arrived.

The stamp set I used is D is for Dog retired from stampin'up. The sentiment I wrote myself and I won't tell you how many times I had to practice so it looked presentable. First time using the paw prints border punch. I was inspired to use Sketch #8 from The Crooked Stamper.

Close up of the D and the pawprints.

I wrote a personal message on the inside,

Shopping Our Stash is going "Outta this World"

Looking for my Clear it Out post scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash is going "Outta this World" and they want you to use (Aliens - most monstahs would work here). Alternate challenge for those alien-free crafters: Something celestial - moon, stars, planets, etc. So I'm really one of those Alien-free crafters, then again I'm not too big on something celestial but I managed to fins an super cute free image on Pinterest.

I coloured my alien with copics and fussy cut (I said a few words too) popped him up on some paper, layered on silver then on a black base. I used the dots I had made with the mini pony beads and the smaller ones from perler beads. Paper glaze added to his eyes and antenna.

Close up look at the alien.

I used an already punched label that was a leftover from last weeks crafting

I had two images printed to make this challenge with and I wasn't sure I was going to post the second one but I wanted to make a tag with it and give it to hubby for a bookmark. He usually has several books on the go and always needs another book mark. I used an image from Sweet Pea Stamps created by Courtney McAnsh to the moon and back.

The black tag was spritzed with glitter spray

Thanks for visiting today and gather up those alien, monsters or moon and stars and enter in the challenge, just remember to check out the rules and see which theme the other members of the design team have done.

The Theme is Autumn and the Stash is Leaves/foliage at Clear it Out Tuesday.

Clear it Out Tuesday's challenge is Autumn and this past weekend it sure has fall in the air, we went from hot to cold in a few hours, we put the heaters on at the cottage and the cat slept IN the bed with us. It's looking like it will get warmer the rest of the week. The sponsor for our Autumn challenge is Dr. Digi's House of Stamps.  Since the theme is Autumn the stash is leaves/foliage.  I sure wasn't thinking on Friday when I left the house, I had a sentiment picked out but couldn't find it when I got to the cottage. I also didn't think about the leaves part either, although I do have some leaf stamps and dies I didn't have them with me, I couldn't find much in small foliage so I bought some Autumn paper napkins and glued the leaves and acorns to some white cardstock scraps and fussy cut them. I really have to be good at improvising these days. On with my card.

Sorry for the terrible picture, it was rather difficult to photograph this while it is closed, It is a Stair Step fold. I saw a Halloween one on High Hopes Blog and just had to try it. Next one I make I will either cut the base 10.5 or the full 11 inches as it doesn't stand up as straight as I would like it as you will see in the next picture.

The patterned paper is from a fall bo bunny pad, The butterfly dome is from a package I have had for 2 years and never opened it. The three brown dots on the left I made with perler beads, they are smaller than the pony beads.

check out that super cute butterfly "button"

BONUS CHALLENGE!!! Shopping our Stash is joining the Jingle Belles.......

Again this year Shopping Our Stash is joining the Jingle Belles for a Winter challenge.  Your project must use items that are at least a year old and tell us what it is.  I was so excited about the challenge I brought many, many sets of stamps and digi images to the cottage to work on them (I thought I needed two) it helps to read closely when checking challenges out. I finally decided on a digi image I got last  year from Sassy Studios, it is Olaf from Frozen, I showed the finished image to hubby and he thought is was a ghost from Casper,  On to more of the challenge...,this is a "twofer" you can put your finished project on both challenge blogs, that's double chances to win,

I made a side step card, this is the first time I have made this by myself and I didn't mess up any cardstock....bonus. The snowflakes are from Stampin'up they also have a die to cut them with and it's the first time they have been used and they are over a year old.  the sentiment came with the super cute image. His buttons I made with  gluing 3 punched circles together and covering them with crystal effects, tiny rhinestones were used for the centers of the snowflakes and a touch of stickles, hope it shows up.

I fussy cut Olaf and popped him up

Close up of the snowflakes

Thanks for stopping by today and lets get a jump start on those Christmas/Winter card and join the challenge at Shopping Our Stash and the Jingle Belles.

Challenge #218 at Shopping Our Stash is ~~ Mirror Mirror

If you were celebrating Labour day I hope it was a beautiful long  weekend for you. I know the U.S and Canada celebrate and hubby and I celebrated our 55th anniversary, we went for dinner tonight at The Erie Beach Hotel in the Cove room. It was great, our server brought us each a dish of icecream with a candle in it, how fab. was that. The head server came over and chatted with us too, we have spent quite a few anniversaries having dinner there, the best thing is the salad cart that comes to your table, cucumbers in sour cream, cabbage salad, pickled beets, a horseradish salad, pickled pumpkin and lots more.  Oh yes and now on to the challenge!!! At Shopping  Our Stash this week it's Mirror Mirror we want you to use something reflective on your project, the shinier the better. I had a fabulous idea I wanted to use the shimmer sheets and try a new technique alas the shimmer sheets are MIA and I didn't have enough time to give a good look for them either. Here is what I finally ended up making.

The sun had passed the perfect point for my picture I hope you can see the shine on the poinsettia. the reflective cardstock I bought many years ago at Dollarama, there is red, green and gold in the package and I really liked it as I found 4 packages in my stash. The embossing folder is from a winter pack and the poinsettia is cut with a Boss Cutz die. I coloured the pearls yellow with a copic marker and added rhinestones for more sparkle.

I elevated the poinsettia and this shows the shine better.

This is the inside of the card, I added a smaller flower and I would deem this card a hand deliver only, it's a bit heavy and certainly won't go through the slot template at the post office.

I would like to enter this in:

Jingle Belles challenge  tic tac two I chose the center vertical line Bling, Diecuts, Snow. (the snow is the snowflakes on the embossing folder) hope I'm not stretching it too far.

Thanks for stopping by today and please join Shopping Our Stash for the Mirror, Mirror challenge.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers New Challenge ~~ F is for Fart!!!

Yes you read that right, F is for Fart and I'm sure you are not surprised LOL. I was totally blank when I saw this challenge in the files at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers I had not a clue what to do for this theme. I was ready to ask for a pass on the challenge until one day I was making candy dots out of pony beads and tried one that had metallic paint on it and it melted really odd, was all crinkly and just a lump. Of course having a conversation with DD (dear daughter) she came up with the saying and I was off and running. I guess it is time for you to see what that saying was and how I made my project.

I made a tag with TH tag die, typed the sentiment on the computer cut the words out, "doodled" on them dang, I really don't doodle well. added the one and only black pony bead dot I had and used a Hershey kiss stamp for the little pile of sh*t in the lower corner.

Close up of the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today and get your thinking caps on and let's see what you can come up with for F is for Fart.

Remembering Summer continues for another week at The Cheerful Stamp Pad.

Last long weekend of the summer, school starts on Tuesday and I will start bowling today, it seems just like we had our end of bowling luncheon and now it's time to start again.  This will be my last post for The Cheerful Stamp Pad, Vicki is taking a well deserved rest from challenges I will keep you posted if she restarts the challenge blog.  On with the challenge, the theme is Remembering summer and the sponsor for the challenge is Little blue Button Stamps check them out, cute images and some freebies.

I chose Miss Lily on the beach image, I fussy cut most of the image but cut the base with a classic oval die, I had a "failed" iwatercoloured background on my table and thought wow that will make a nice background for Miss Lily, it was just large enough to cut with the classic oval, I then flat attached the image.

Close up of the sweet image and the background,

Wasn't sure what sentiment I would use so it's blank and yes I know the patterned paper is upside down.

Thanks for stopping by today and I would love to see your idea of Remembering summer is, so add your project to the Cheerful Stamp Pad.

Challenge #217 ~~ Put a Bird on it!!

Happy Tuesday!!! Shopping Our Stash has a new challenge and it's Put a Bird On It!! Now I do have a few bird stamps and a punch but I really wanted to do something different. A friend asks me to make cards for her and always asks for a Cardinal, well any image or stamp is for a winter card or Christmas  and I wanted one for her birthday which is in the summer so took the image and added flowers over the holly leaves and berries. I stamped and fussy cut every single flower and leaf.  I'm pleased with it how about you?

A fancy frame and a few rhinestones  and it's perfect.

Close up of the flowers,

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will show us your project with a bird on it.
