Rudolph Days ~~ March

I finally have the card made for Rudolph Days for March, I've been working on it for days one little step at a time. I changed my mind 3 times on which image I was going to use then it was the sketch, sometimes thing just don't fall into place right off the get-go.  But here it is with one day to spare.

I bought these super cute mini house mouse clear stamps and it's the first time any of them have seen ink, it was a bit bigger than the die I wanted to use so I "cut inside the box" picture tutorial to follow.
The sketch is from Mojo Monday.

Finished the inside with a edge die, an inkadinkadoo sentiment that seemed perfect for the image.

Now the tutorial.

first I lay the die down yes it's upside down so I can see the edge, so you know what part is outside the frame.

Then fussy cut the edges of what you don't want die-cut, then you slide the part you don't want cut over the the die edge, this part will not cut but the rest will.

This is what it looks like after it has gone through the die cutting machine, then you finish fussy cutting the part that is outside the frame.

I hope you can understand, I know at one point there was a video showing how to do partial cutting.

Challenge 392 ~~ Make an ATC card or coin.......

At Shopping Our Stash Donna has chosen the theme and it's make an atc card or coin, An Artist Trading card is 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches and a Coin is 2 1/2 inch circle both decorated with a theme, these are never sold only traded or given, they also make a fabulous focal point on a card.  I love ATCs but this time I wanted to try my hand at making "coins".  I used a couple of pieces of DCWV paper pad I've had for eons, at least 8 years old. For the base of the coin I used a cardboard box from halloween candy (saved it) it is very heavy, using some gel medium to glue the 2 1/2 inch circle to the same size piece of the patterned paper.  Leaving the 4 circles to dry on my table overnight and planned to finish them in the morning.

As you see there are only three coins, remember I said they were drying on my table, In the morning I cut my butterflies and embossed them with Silver Pearl embossing powder, it just puts a beautiful shimmer on no matter what you put it on. I bought this 5 or 6 years ago and I'm sure it's only the second time I used it. The sentiments were die cut out of foam core. So putting the coins together I realized one was missing and here is the culprit.

Toto delights in taking things off my table and I never found the coin, I'm sure is is in sad shape. Note to self......put things away or put something heavy on them while they dry.

On to the next set.

The first set was fun so I decided I wanted to make another "4" so I took 3 X 3 pieces of white cardstock and using distress oxide inks I made the backgrounds, I then  punched circles with the 2 1/2 inch EK punch, glued them to the chocolate bar bases, I stamped the 4 snowmen from Sunshine Designs coloured and fussy cut, stamped the snowmen on the background and added the fussy cut ones on top. The dots were made with white opal liquid pearls.

Don't forget to head over to the main blog and see what the rest of the design team have made.

Thanks for visiting today, remember the challenge runs for two weeks now.

Season's Tweetings ~~ Take #2

Since I had a bit of time today I finished the card I started yesterday, I had the image coloured I found a sketch I really liked and since penguins are birds I plan on entering this for the Jingle Belles #putabirdonit.

Again I use a super cute image from Bugaboo Designs, I have been seeing the large silver snow flake on my table so decided to use it before it had fallen apart and became useless. The background paper was a super find at the local thrift store, (I scored two 12 X 12 paper pads and one was Christmas).

The theme of the front was carried to the inside with the paper, the oval and the snowflake. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

I'm entering this in:

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 ~~ Sketch 156  (a few liberties)

Thanks for stopping by today and checking on what I've been crafting. There is still a bit of time to enter the Jingle Belles challenge and the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.

Season Tweetings..............

I'm playing along with the Jingle Belles again for the #putabirdonit challenge, it is a fun theme so I just had to make a fun bird card.

I started this card way earlier in the week and I planned on using the Sketch Saturday  sketch but time got away from me to finish it in time but I still used the basic sketch and had a chance to use a doily I die cut last summer out of foam core. The super image is from Bugaboo Stamps it is one of my older digis but I just love it and usually colour them as blue birds.

Close up of the image and the beautiful JOY die cut.

Finished inside with a scrap of patterned paper and a sentiment from the Artful Stamper.

U is for Unicorn at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!!

It's a NEW challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers ~~ #131 U is for Unicorn.  It was a good thing we got the prompt early as I have 0 unicorns so it gave me a chance to use my gift card and pick out a unicorn digi from Bugaboo Stamps. I won $30 last year when I entered one of the challenges.

The digi is coloured with copic markers and spica glitter pens, lavishly coated with Wink of Stella on the balloon and body of the unicorn. Background paper is from a paper pad and the sentiment was included with the image.

Finished the inside of the card with a $2 stamp from Michaels.

Rockin' Robin

When I was a teenager my bestie and I use to dance to Rockin' Robin at the pavilion at the park, I guess I'm dating myself but those were the fun days, listening to the radio and playing tunes on the jukebox.  Well before I get reminiscing too much it's back to my card. The Jingle Belles prompt (started Friday) is Rockin' Robin so what you have to do is #putabirdonit or for those at are hashtag challenged Put a Bird on It.  Here is my interpretation  of the challenge.

I put two birds on it!!!  The image is a digital image (not sure of the store) colouring with alcohol markers, the birds are from Impression Obsession and cut out of red shiny posterboard. I layered it on real red and gold, the gold I took white cardstock edged it in versamark watermark and embossed the edge in gold. I really think the gold powder is getting too old it was a pain to heat set. I then added it to real red that is dry embossed with Birds & vines cuttlebug folder, it was added to a 4X6 kraft base.

Close up of the cardinals

Finished the inside with a EK punched edge a stampendous sentiment and a couple of Cardinals.

Top 'O The Mornin' to You.............

An early Happy St. Patrick's day to everyone!!! Show us Your Pussycats Challenge has an optional theme of St. Patrick's Day and since I have a "Fluffles" St. Patrick's Day stamp I just had to join in the fun!!  Since I needed more inspiration than a stamp I zoned in on the current sketch challenge from Mojo Monday and it was perfect, it was a win/win.

I am sure keeping this sketch in a folder to use again, it's perfect for these Fluffles stamps sadly they are not available from Stampendous anymore. The image was coloured with copics and winked with stella. The sentiment was computer generated, the striped paper was a scrap from my stash the other two papers were printed from google.

Close up of the super cute "fluffles"

Since I don't send many St Patrick's day cards I didn't have a sentiment but this one from Printworks is perfect for a lot of occasions.

Entering the following challenges:

Dashing Through The Snow...................

Here I am again sneaking in close to the end of the Jingle Belles Rock Challenge to use Music on your project. I had two cards planned but one of them just didn't make the "cut".  Here is the one that did make it.

My card was created around a piece of oxide ink background I found in my stash, so while looking for "something" I found this already die cut horse and sleigh....I'm on  a roll, as you know I love turquoise whether it be green or blue toned, this time I dug around to find some Bermuda Bay cardstock as I knew it was the perfect colour to accent the sky.  The music background is a stamp from Stampin'up that I haven't used in a while and I inked it up with Peacock Feathers distress oxide ink.

Close up of the focal point.

Finished the inside with a strip of washi tape and a tree out of the die-cut extras bin.

Mimi is the  hostess for the SOS Challenge  and she wants us to Celebrate Friendship.  I chose a House Mouse/Happy Hopper stamp for my image.

This is the most adorable image, I love it, unlikely friends cuddling in the flowers.
The image was cut with Spellbinders label 8 and layered on fancy labels 8, I haven't use them in a long while.

Just had to have a close up

The sentiment is from the Stamp Barn in Ottawa (was sold) I think I bought it at a discount scrap store and not sure if I have ever used it, I have had this for at least 8 years.

Christmas in White and Gold

I am very partial to white and gold for Christmas cards so when I saw the new challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown I had so many ideas it took me half the day to decide what to do.  I took a card class at the Butterfly Moon in the fall, loved the tree die from Elizabeth Craft Designs as it very versatile.

Even though this is in white and gold it would look fabulous no matter what colour glitter paper you used. The die comes with the tree, the outline and two stars.

For the inside I used a fancy Merry Christmas Die cut in gold and added a trio of the small stars.

I am entering this in:

I'm trying hard to keep up making a few Holiday/Christmas cards every week so thanks for stopping by and checking in.

It's Ombre' time at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!!

Welcome to the new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.......O is for Ombre'. I checked out Jennifer Maguire's video on backgrounds with distress oxide inks and took a few pointers from her.  I also took a few pointers from Edna as you will see soon.

Isn't Edna fancy shmancy in her ombre' dress....thank you Lee you are a jewel.

First I stamped Filigree background stamp (long retired from Stampin'up) with versamark watermark ink and embossed it in white embossing powder. Using TH distress oxide peacock feathers I covered the background in a an ombre' fashion then taking a soft cloth cleaned off any ink that was on the white embossing.  Then added the SMILE die cut. My inspiration for my card was both the sketch and the "Mint" colour from the current Fusion challenge.

Close up of the sentiment

Well I did have to add a smidgen of snark with a sentiment from Printworks

I am entering this in:

Fusion Card Challenges ~~ Used both the sketch and the photo colours

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects they are awesome and will give you the inspiration to try this awesome technique.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #5 ~~ Have a Very Bear-y Christmas!!

Hello friends, family and followers! I'm making some progress with my Christmas Stash by following Jo's Christmas Kickstart Challenge.  I'm very happy for the theme as I have a few 'Gruffies" from House Mouse Designs so I used one.

5 1/4 inch square card, super Gruffie image and my recent favourite square dies layered on a piece out of a Kaisercraft paper pad named Santa's List. Riding hood Red accents the decorations were coloured with spica glitter pens and the rest with copics.

Isn't he just adorable, of course I'm a little biased I just love all my Gruffies.

Finished the inside with a scrap of designer paper and an Impression Obsession Sentiment.
