What' Black and White and Red all over? The New Challenge at Shopping Our Stash.

Welcome to the last challenge of 2020 at Shopping Our Stash and it's a really great one. Black & white and red all over. Enterpret as you see it, so many many many options now I took it literally. It wasn't an easy one for me I had a plan and when I couldn't locate a die I wanted to use I was at a standsill but while looking in all the obvious places I found a Quilt Die, I've had for a couple or three years and used once as it is a PITA to do but so worth it.  So won't keep you in suspense any longer......

It is a Gina Marie Quilt Die and so gorgeous.  First you have to cut three in coordinating patterns, I have done it with double sided patterned paper and it was lovely due to the challenge being the three colours I only used on patterned paper. First I backed the black die cut with double sided tape and put it on the red square. then becaues the areals were sticky I paper pieces the rest making sure the plaids matched. Then to use a bit more white I layered on a square of white and because I love to pay double for postage I added it to a a black layer that I sewed on to the red layer then attached it to a white 5 1/2 inch square base.  In the center there is an Eyelet Outlet enamel red glitter dot.

These are my leftovers. I must give you a tip that I saw on one of Jennifer Maguire's blog and to use Press and Seal to keep all the bits together and now I can make two more cards, the pieces come off the press and seal very easily.

This is the inside which I left blank it's always good to have some cards you can use for any occasion.

Inspired by the Jingle Belles Rock Blog Banner......

Well it's not the last day for the challenge but pretty close but since we have had 6 inches or more of snow overnight and it's still coming down I had some time to make a card for the challenge. I must tell you I went a long way out of my comfort zone on this, using techniques I haven't done in years if I ever did them except in practice. The banner was saying make a Slimline card so I did.

First I blended eggshell blue oxide in all over the white panel, then added some dots to the left side  twith the same ink, toward the right I added a Christmas word stamp. then the Pinte tree which I stamped off once. The forest behind inked in Mowed lawn was stamped off two or three times. I just love how this turned out.

Close up of the words and trees, Both stamps I used are many years old and haven't seen ink in a long while. (they are happy)

The inside was finished with a a stamp I won at the Jingle Belles, I thought it very appropriate to use. I added a few snowflakes.

Don't forget to check out the Jingle Belles Banner below.

E is for Elves at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Another two weeks has just flown by again, I'm sure the earth is spinning faster now than it was a few years ago. The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #174 is E is for Elves, for my card for the challenge I went with a grumpy Christmas Elf from Meljen's designs, I have had this digi for a few years and have to print him off every year for one of my Bah Humbug friends.

Again Lee makes the perfect graphic for the challenge.

Here is my Elf.

Instead of the usual Hum Bug I added a HoHoHo to go with his grumpy face.  I went with the traditional Red/Green holiday colours and plaid. I used copic markers to colour the image and a spellbinders large and small labels set of dies.

If  you take offence at vugarity please stop here as the inside sentiment is Xrated.

Twas the Night Before Christmas..........

I was working on the "I see clearly now" challenge at the Jingle Belles with this die cut and no matter what I did it just didn't work so I tucked it aside and though oh Rudolph Days is soon and wow I managed to get this card done yesterday, of course didn't get to blog it until today but I'm happy I'm not rushing the last day.

The galaxy backgound was made in the summer and wasn't really a fail but I did a second one at the time that was better.   There is lot's of sparkle in real life (as always)

finished
it with a sentiment and a gold from from my box of "things" I used the stik-it to attach and won't do that again it was really had to place around the sentiment.

Let it Snow!!!

Let it Snow is the new challenge a Shopping Our Stash!! Ontario received a good amount of really wet snow on Sunday it looked very nice but it's enough for now.  It's up to you haow you want to interpret the challenge, make sure it has something to do with snow. First I planned snowmen but I had printed off some super cute Bugaboo Stamps Penguins with making a slimline card at some point so the decision was made.

Sometimes planning isn't one of my best suits  I cut all the pieces glued them together and then went to place the images and they were a tad big to look right straight, so Happy Accident they look great a little wonky.
Let it Snow is from Elizabeth Craft Designs

Finished the inside with a Stampendous sentiment that is keeping with the theme and a couple of scraps of cardstock and paper.  It is suggested to use 100 pound cardstock for the base of Slimline cards as they are tall and it works well but you might have to add some extra stamps for mailing.

Thanks for joining me here and don't forget to check out the Main Blog and see the rest of the design teams snowy cards.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 22

Day 22 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags is sponsored by Erin Lee and the tag I used for my inspiration was Ceal Prichett's tag. She used a stencil to make her burgundy background for her tag. and I thought I don't have a stencil but then I reamembered a die that I have never used it i a frame die with a plaid die and I did have to cut is a bit larger but you will see how I covered it up, I was just a "hair" off in the cut.

The star was cut with Foam Core, it gave it more stability than the cardstock one, even though I did two layers, The burgundy cardstock is leftover from the previous tag. (that's not the reason I picked Ceal's tag)  Happy Holidays is heat embossed in white and you can see how I covered the joint. I also added as gold sticker strip.

Here is Ceal's tag.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 20

Here is my catch up tag I made on Saturday for Day 20 I was inspired by Heather Nichols tag because I love the rich burgundy colour with the kraft, also I still had my Pretty Pines set still on the diecutting table.

The layers were cut with wonky rectangles from Gina Marie designs, On the kraft layer I stamped some snowflakes and dots with white ink (which needs to be reinked)  The pinecone is two layers the base is dark brown and the top layer is a choloclate colour. then added the small gold cord bowl and a tiny sentiment and attached a wider white ribbon a bit differnent.

Here is Heather's card.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 Day 21

This is Day 21 of the 25 days of Christmas Tags, only 4 more days left and of course I haven't done all ot them yet, there are a few of the earlier days I just couldn't squeeze in the time.  Sponsor for the day is Studio Katia.  There were a lot of fabulous tags to choose from but I picked Lindey MP's tag. I'm just learning to blend with oxide inks and decided I could use the practice and it hadd a Snowman on it.

Again it's late and the photography isn't the best but I wanted to get it done tonight before I headed to bed. I used one of the 4 snowmen stamps from Sunshine Studios. Coloured his earmuffs and scarf and nose with spica glitter pens. The snow dots are made with one of the stamps from an old Snowflake set called Snow Spot from Stampin'up. I embossed them in white. Added a blue velvet ribbon, a scrap of gold cord and a couple of bells.

Here is Lindsey's tag.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 17

On to my "catch-up" tag for the day, I was amazed when I found the perfect patterned paper, I went through some of the paper pads and figured I was imagining I had the checked paper, then I found out when it's double sided check the other side. Today's sponsor is Picket Fence Studios and the tag that inspired me was Lindsey Larson's Tag.  I was inspired by the ornament shape and of course the patterned paper.

I added a touch of colour to the little bear as he wasn't wearing a super cute sweater that Lindsey's bear is wearing

Here is Lindsey's Tag

-The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 19

My plan is working I made two tags today the current day on the same day and one other tag. Things are looking up. For todays tag I was inspired by Alix Davis's unconventional use of a heart shape for her tag and knew I just had to make one.

I used a super cute Bugaboo image which I popped up with foam dots.  In my punch drawer (s) found this super cute snowflake stamp although Alix spattered with white paint and added enamel dots, I'm  useless at the spatter thing and had no tiny enamel dots.

Here is Alix's tag

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 18

Wow the first time I made a tag on the current day, I was so inspired by Rosemary Dennis's tag I had to dig out my Tim Holtz Big Z with the greenery on it. I also used some "greenery" from Stampin'up's Pretty Pines set as I was using the pinecones as well, I think I used the pine cones last years. The sponsor for day 18 is Jillian Vance Design and there is a prize.

I love the neutral colours although they are not one of my go to colours Rosemary's tag just drew me in, and the fact I could use stuff I've not used in a long while, I can't tell you the last time I used the TH die. it has a flower you roll (hahaha) it never happened for me.

Here is Rosemary's Tag

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 14

One day closer to catching up!! Day 14 I loved both the super cute Gingerbread Houses but picked one that was closer to the die I have had for over a year and I've only used the gingerbread figures.  Lawn Fawn is the sponsor for day 14 and I picked Jenn Shurkus's  tag.

I added a couple of shiny snowmen stickers to the front it really looked bare and I didn't have any "candy" to put on it, If I had thought ahead I couldn't have used some sucker brads from the Eyelet Outlet but It was finished with a second layer to make the tag more stable. The wreath and red dots as well as the bow are from the same set, I cut the roof and step out of some sparkly cardstock.

Here is Jenn's tags

these tags are just adorable.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 13

I'm still behind, slowly catching up although my plan to do the day's tag and one other hasn't worked so far, but there is till time. So for day 13 so many cute tags to choose from but I immediately saw Karen Bull's tag and was so excited to see a truck, I have a truck die and have used it once, well there are many, many pieces to attach together (good job the back doesn't show LOL)

I popped up the fenders, Merry Christmas is a sticker.

Here is Karen's tag.

Isn't her tag just adorable.
The sponsor for the day is Paper Smooches.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day11

Had a small marathon on Wednesday and managed to get 3 tags done,  So many to choose from on the blog. Day 11 sponsor is Birch Press Design, check them out they have awesome layered dies. I chose Desiree Kuemmerle's tags as inspiration,  I had used a layering die earlier this year and of course because I cut 3 of each die I had leftovers, it was fab. I put them in an envelope and saved them for later use.  I only used the center of the diecut so saving the other two pieces for a later date.

I used an Elizabeth Craft Designs Hexagon die to make a folded tag.  Gluing the layers together was a task because as I mentioned before I have a fur baby that thinks no matter what I am doing she wants to see it close up.  I added a gem to the center of the snowflake, I love the Kraft and blues together. I'm wondering as the inspiration tag didn't have a sentiment what are your views on adding a small sentiment to the tag as my snowflake doesn't cover as much as Desiree's?

A close up of the snowflake, it's so pretty.

Here is Desiree's Tag.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 10

Back again today with Day 10 of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020,  I was inspired by Ardyth's tag with the super cute gnome, It gave me a chance to use a NBUS gnome stamp and die set. (more practice with the dies is in order)  The sponsor for the day is Reverse Confetti.

The Merry I used is a self inking set I bought many years ago at Winners, I have since lost the company name, I have used these a lot, I have two sets each with 8 stamps, I am amazed on how long they have lasted. The work perfect for tags and small areas.

Here is Ardyth's Tag.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 9

It's Day 11 at the 25 Days of Christmas Tags and I am on day 9 (with a couple to catch up) I'm still trying to do the day's tag and one other but so far it hasn't worked, The weather has been so nice and I have tried to spend some time outside raking leaves.  Today is also Remembrance Day here in Canada although it will be a distanced one, no service at our Cenotaph, it seems to be all or nothing.  I'm happy to stay home.

Day 9 I picked out Kathy Schweinfurth's tag, it was colourful and it gave me a chance to use (for the first time) a gingerbread man die. It had a face you could put on it but that was scary looking so I did my own decorating. The sponsor for Day 9 is Pink & Main.

I added the dots for the eyes and put the pupils on with a marker, the buttons are also dots glued on, the mouth is made with Nuvo drops. I really liked her knit layer and I used an embossing folder to emulate it. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Here is Kathy's tag.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 ~~ Day 8

I did work on two tags today but there were some roadblocks along the  way, The main roadblock was the super cute fur baby pictured on the right, My craft table the last couple of days has been a real draw and it's for attention. (typical 3 year old)  I managed to get tag 8 done today and my inspiration was Kim Heggin's tag. The sponsor for the day is Avery Elle.  I was just so taken with the super cute cat on her tag.

The digi is from Stitchy Bear, the Santa hat is from a Stampin'up stamp set called Crab & Company, was already stamped and coloured in the case. I have been using 100 pound cardstock for my tag bases and it is a different shade of white than the 80 pound so I traced around the smaller tag with a red glitter pen. A mini pompom was added to the hat. The sentiment was computer generated.

Close up of the sentiment.

Here is Kim's Tag.
