O is for Ocean at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

Here I am a week late for the challenge, it's been a comedy of errors trying to get this one done,  I have worked on it for days it seems, I went to put it together on Friday and I had used the Ocean background intended for this card, I had to make a new one, well you know it needs time to dry and at the lake where it is humid it took over 12 hours to dry.  So with that done this morning I started early and got the card done guess what.......no internet, no phone line either. Neighbour called Bell it will be Wednesday, (never mind what I'm thinking) I called the internet provider, said the wait time was 45 minutes so left my number to call back, two hours later I phoned them back, not very happy. You would think this was my first rodeo by the way she talked to me, anyway long story short appointments made for NEXT weekend (had trouble with her accent) and when I heard $175.00 charge I cancelled the two or three appointments I think I might have had.  Got busy and fixed it myself. By then it was well after 3, so now I'm ready to show you my Ocean card.

Last week I coloured and fussy cut the images sadly one crab had a bit of an accident which I have ingeniously covered up and the eye surgery worked too.  I'm rather impressed with this ocean background it's much better than the original.
The sentiment was the genius from one of my sistahs and stamped with a timy alpha from Studio G.

Close up of the slightly snarky sentiment (thanks Lindsey)

The look of astonishment one the other ocean critters is priceless.

Thanks for stopping by today and looking forward to your ocean creations you have until Friday at 11.59 to enter at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

It's Rudolph Days ~~ August

Wow it's only August 26th and I have my Rudolph Days card done already, of course I had a bit of a jumpstart as I coloured it last month while colouring July's image.

I have used a penguin digi from Bugaboo Stamps, they are the most adorable critters, Normally I use blue when I'm doing snow things but today I went with red and white. The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft Designs,  I added little sticker dots to a few of the snowflakes on the snowflake embossed background.

Just a closer look and yes I will finish colouring the little guy (must have been in a hurry)

Finished the inside with one of the Stampin'up stamp set sentiments and the image as well.

And because I used no patterned paper and there is still an hour left.

No Patterned Paper is the Challenge!!

Finally found time to get the card finished for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge, you can't use patterned paper on your project. Not a biggie for me I like using embossing folders, glad it wasn't that. I was so inspired over Lauren's week 1 card I just had to case it, I have the same super cute stamp/die set, never been inked. Here is the LINK to her card.

And it's a shaker too!!! who wouldn't love a narwal card?  First time using the triple swirl die I cut it with light blue medium blue and navy and layered it on an greenish background. thus 4 colours. I just learned a very good lesson, when you have the super shaker cups too long they the adhesive doesn't hold and you need to use more or glue it. What a mess, beads all over and I aldread had the adhesive on the back ready to attach it to the card. So if you have some shaker cups remember my lesson.  Now that Narwal is just the cutest thing, I'm hoping to make more minus the shaker element. The background behind the shaker is oxide ink not patterned paper.

Just a closer look, I didn't use the die to cut him out I fussy cut as I didn't want a white edge and I love fussy cutting.

As you see I couldn't throw those off cuts from the top layer  I figured they would work on the inside with the sentiment which I believe is Impression Obsession.

That's all for now, Thanks for visiting today and stay tuned August Rudolph Days is soon.

Pile It On!!!

Last challenge it was Keep it Simple Sister now for this fortnight it's Pile it On at Shopping Our Stash, Ah much better for me I love layers, embossing and bling.

Count them, there are 5 layers plus a base, I didn't want to take away from the poppies so I left the background white but embossed it with Swiss Dots. I have no idea who made this stamp it is a clear mount stamp and all I have is the stamp between two pieces of acetate. There are two stamps, this one and a narrower one. I haven't inked it in many years in fact I can only find one card I have made with this set. If you know the company that makes it please leave the name in the comments, I have searched and came up with 0.  I did some fussy cutting on the top of the large bloom so it fit the oval I wanted to use, layered it on the fancy oval from Spellbinders. The Happy Birthday is from Class A Peel Stickers (Stampendous) and the dots are Stardream red/gold glitter stickers (there are 4 sizes of dots in the package)

Close up, you can see the glitter dots better.

The inside was finished with a Birthday sentiment from Impression Obsession.

Thanks Georgina for letting  me know that the poppies are from Hero Arts.

One Last "Leftovers" card for the Jingle Belles

Although I still have quite a few bits and pieces from over-cutting, stamping and colouring images, making backgrounds this will be my last card for Holiday Leftovers at the Jingle Belles.

This one has the most leftovers the base and the frame are new, the birch trees are a partial die-cut slated for a challenge that never got made, well the cardinal was the last one in the box (I die cut all 6 at the same time) the white fawn the evergreen and the snowflake "star" and the oxide ink background was also set aside when I made one I liked better.

Close up to show the beads and that it's a Shaker Card!! haven't made a shaker card in eons

Even the inside was a leftover from an earlier card, I cut the sentiment with double sided tape on the back when I changed my mind I had to stick it to a piece of 4 X 5 1/4 cardstock so it didn't get stuck together, I just added the sticker snowman.

Jingle Belles are still Rockin' the Holiday Leftovers.

At the Jingle Belles Rock Challenge they are still asking for us to use our Holiday Leftovers and wow I seem to have a lot of them. I have no idea when I coloured this super cute  Mini clear owl from Stampendous but I know I had a gray and a brown owl (gray one is hiding)  I'm using the sketch from Freshly made sketches that ended at 3 p.m. today.

Since I left my camera at home I'm using my phone to take pictures and send them to my email, well Samsung updated and now they way I did it earlier this week isnt working as well, why don't people leave things alone, if it's not broke don't fix it.  (rant is over) The leftovers I used here are birch branch ornament circle that I cut a circle out of because the ornament was too big (I remember that)  Backed the ornament with an oxide background scrap. Since the sketch was to have stripes I used some patterered stripes an embossed the white with a cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder.

Finished the inside with a Stampabilities sentiment

Still Using Up Holiday Leftovers

The challenge at the Jingle Belles Rock is to use up leftover bits and bobs from your Christmas card making. Well I had oodles of leftovers and the sketch last week at Freshly Made sketches was perfectfor the bits I have, sadly the sketch challenge ended at 3 p.m. today, but it's still a great sketch for my leftovers.

The image was coloured in my stash as was the sentiment. The stamp is a stampendous mini clear stamp, I have a collection of them, some Christmas some Birthday.

The inside sentiment is from Stampendous

Raiding the Refrigerator ~~ for Leftovers

I'm back with a second Christmas leftover card for the Jingle Belles Rock!! First I have a bit of a question for you, if you want just mention it in the comments.

Here are some leftovers I gathered together, how many cards do you think you could make using these  bits and bobs?
This is the first one I made with poinsettias

I used three sets of large and 3 small poinsettia leaves but only had two gold dots, just made more with scraps The sentiment was stamped on an off-cut oval. A bit of gold cord (a treat to get in loops too) The embossed background needed a few more gold dots.

Now this poinsettia is a leftover but is like the front ones only a warm stardream white. I even dug out my embossing tools WOW. The sentiment is from a set of all occasion verses from Stampin'u[/

This is my favourite challege so far. Wonder how many more I can make from those "leftovers"

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day

V ia is for Vularity at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

Time for a new Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers,

There are lot's of interpretation of being vulgar, you don't have to be gutter bound, now if I can't find my die at the cottage all you get is SNARK so you will find out soon.

Well you know when I want Snark I head for the AI girlfriends or Stella  Well decided the AI girlfriend her facial expression works so well with snark.

Close up of the image.

Well I'm back at the cottage and so far I haven't found the die, now I must say I brought the items to the lake a few weeks ago and knowing me I've probably had it in my hand and didn't see it, So unfortuatly there is no vularity only snark (on the front)

Thanks for visiting today and lets see what you can come up with for the challenge.

KISS ~~ Keep it Simple Sister....

Time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash and Donna thought it would be a good idea to "Keep it Simple Sister" in other words Clean and Simple. Now this isn't usually my forte' but I did some research and found a simple card to make, although sometime simple isn't fast and easy.

I made the background with distress oxide inks did some die cutting of the flowers, the oval was cut with Nellie Snellen oval set, the thinking of you is from Impression Obsession. The flowers are the newest dies being around 2 years old,  When you do CAS there isn't much using of stash. If I was doing this card there would be sparkles, rhinestones, butterflies and more but I pulled the reins pretty hard.

Love these flowers and have now just started using them, there are 6 in the set. and of course the oxide background, my favourite thing to do, fun and messy.

A sentiment from a fairly new set, but first time inking it, I love the sentiment, it is very comforting.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the main blog there are simply beautiful inspiration over there.

It's Holiday Leftover time at the Jingle Belles

When I saw the challenge for Holiday Leftovers (not the turkey dinner ones) at the Jingle Belles Challenge I knew that I have lots of bits and bobs of off-cuts hanging about. I corralle d a few so for the first of my "leftover" cards I used an A2 background die cut, now this die-cut has been at the cottage for at least two maybe 3 years, I had trouble with getting it out of the die and a few bits were a tad damaged so I set it aside and of course since I'm spending time at the lake it was delegated for my first leftover.

I made an oxide background with several colours , had it really wet so had to wait a while to attach the sparkly die-cut. Not wanting to cover it with images I chose a very large die cut Winter Wishes which I cut two out of 100 pound cardstock layered them and attached flat.

Close up and you can see the sparkly die-cut.

Finished the inside with an Impression Obsession sentiment and stickers, I used a snowflake sticker and the dotted sticker border, I received a bag of stickers from a friend that can't craft anymore, I have never worked much with stickers but these are fantastic. lots of winter/snowman stickers, there are sentiments which will be used too.
