X is for fauX at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

Good Saturday morning!! It's time for a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers X  is for fauX. Interpret as you will,  So many Faux techniques out there or you could go literal as some of the team have. Take a look at Edna in her Faux fox stole.

I decided to go with a Faux Technique my go to one is Faux Silk but I wanted to try something different this time so I did Faux Mother of Pearl, I found a video  HERE but used Blueprint Sketch distress oxide ink I made the faux mother of pearl with Frost White all purpose ink I bought years ago from Stampin'up.

This is my attempt at Faux Mother of Pearl. and now the finished card.

Once my background was dry I was having trouble decided what I could do as not to "hide" the mother of pearl background and I saw CAS(E) this Sketch prompt and I knew what I wanted to do. I entered their last challenge I don't normally do CAS but I'm very happy with this and nothing is taking away from the technique.

Finished the inside with an Impression Obsession stamp.  Perfect for almost any occasion .

Hot Beverages for a Cold Night!!!

Here in SWO it's getting a lot cooler these days so it's nice to have a hot beverage to warm you up. So this fortnight at Shopping Our Stash  we want to see some "HOT" beverages on your project, don't forget to let us know what stash you used.  I used the  last  piece of the "cup" patterned paper, I have no idea what company it is from.

I chose Poppi Penguin from Bugaboo Stamps  and the current sketch from Cas(e) this Sketch. The white holly is part of a sprig that was in my "parts" box, I planned on a SWEET die cut sentiment but alas it is in one of the boxes I've brought home from the lake. I haven't had a chance to unpack yet, crafting out of bags and boxes is not my idea of fun

Close up of the image  I  used wink of stella on the fur on the hat the sraw/spoon and the marshmallows.

My Last Card for Pink Christmas at the Jingle Belles~~

Well it's my last card because I'm almost out of time, it's 5 p.m. here in Ontario and the challenge closes at 6 p.m. my time.  But I am so happy I got it done and used some items that have been kicking around for a while.  It is a very CAS card for me but I'm happy with it, it is also an A6 card 4 X 6 inches.

I had cut a couple of these snowflake dies a while ago planning on layering them for dimension, which is what I did. I added a couple of layers behind it which also elevated the focal point. The rhinestones were coloured with a pink copic.

Close up to show the detail on the die.

I know I'm constantly complaining I took my stamps home and  can't finish the cards, but this time I remembered the Happy Holidays from Neat and Tangled dies, I won it in the 25 days of Christmas tags and I am not sure if I have used it before. I did add a pink rhinestone to the I as an afterthought, The snowflakes were from my little parts bin.

Thanks for stopping by again today I hope you have enjoyed my Pink Christmas cards for the Challenge it's one prompt I love every year.

Sneaking in with another Pink Christmas card for the Jingle Belles Challenge.

I said it was a marathon, I've had one that didn't pan out and another in the works. I am really happy with this card, I made a slimline card, kinda getting into them lately, There is a Face Book page that you can put your creations on and the inspiration you get is awesome.  Well won't keep chatting I must remember the "timeline".

Not a pretty background, but they are a bit of a challenge to photograph, it's dull and wet outside today so I didn't want to take it outside. The snowwomen are a 4 stamp set from Sunshine Designs I use them a lot. Coloured and fussy cut added them to this tri-circle slimline die, I didn't have any sky oxide backgrounds on hand but found a piece of commercial smooshed cardstock.  Let it Snow is from Elizabeth Craft Designs and I really use it a lot too, it is cut twice from pink and once in glitter pink and layered for dimension.

Closer look at the snow-babes and the sentiment.

Another close-up of the sentiment and a snow-babe

Guess what! I found a winter sentiment I use for my snowmen/women cards, it's from High Hopes which is an online store from Ontario, Canada. And of course the 4th of the snowwomen stamps.

I'm adding this 4th card to:

The Pink Christmas Marathon Continues.......

I'm back with my third card for the Annual Jingle Belles Pink Christmas Challenge.  I had a very good crafting day a it was cold and wet, just crafting weather, although Toto thought is was the best weather to spend as much lap time as she could.  I decided to take advantage of another week at the cottage,  It usually takes me three trips to get everything home. This weekend is #2 trip then I will know if there is going to be a day trip to pick up stragglers.  My card uses another oxide background that was in my stash and a very favourite A2 die.

I haven't decided if it needs a sentiment on the front or not, any ideas?  The birch tree die is from te Frantic Stamper the stag and cat were die cuts in my bits box as I had taken some of my dies home already, birds and deer dies were in that bunch.

I'm Still Dreaming of a Pink Christmas with the Jingle Belles!!

I said I would be back with more pink Christmas cards,  I made a few pink backgrounds quite a while ago with this challenge in mind and it was great I had them with me at the cottage, I decided another week would be nice, although today was a crafting sort of day, cold and wet but warm and toasty inside. Here is my card for the challenge.

I used my new A2 die to cut the frame out of silver,  layered it on a oxide background and added a JOY die cut to the center.

close up of the die cut and the inky background.

Now since I never thought to bring any inside sentiments with me (took them home two weeks ago) the inside  will have to be finished when I get home.

I'm Dreaming of a Pink Christmas

It's that time of year that the Jingle Belles Rock Pink Christmas for Breast Cancer Awareness, both Lauren and Stephanie donate $2.00 each for every pink Christmas card posted on their Challenge Blog.

Here is my first card for the challenge (there will be more)

Now I cannot remember who is the maker of this digi, it was printed and in my stash of images, must remember to pencil te name on the back of them when I print, I used Spellbinders Labels 2 to diecut the image and te layer, The patterned paper is from a paper pad I found at Walmart 19 years ago,  Merry Christmas is from Impession Obsession. Although you can't really see it, I did machine stitch the patterned paper to the pink layer.

Close up of the super cute penguin.

A couple of years ago I bought a little sewing machine at a yard sale, I don't even remember if I tried it before, but it came with many colours of thread all wound on spools to use.  I'm sure I really need to get it out and practice more as the first run was not too steady.  Here is a picture of the machine.

It sure is a noisy little thing but I will manage to sew a straight line with practice.

Time for H is for Halloween (in Pink)

It's our annual nod to breast cancer, this year it's H is for Halloween but in Pink, you need to have pink on your card. It's time to do your annual breast check.

Ghostly Edna in her pink finery in front of a very haunted house.

I had this Mel Jen's Designs super girl in my image stash and thought what little girl wouldn't like to go trick or treating as a superhero. The image fit the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  The scrap of pink skull paper is left overs from another year's card, Although I do have a set of stamps with that sentiment I typed it out to fit the sketch.

Happy Fall Y'all!!!

Another two weeks has flown by and it's a NEW challenge at Shopping Our Stash, #41 Happy Fall Y'all!! create an Autumn thmed or a Holiday autumn themed card (thanksgiving/Halloween/thank you/Birthday)

Autumn oolours are not my favourite but I can do Halloween using my favourite hallloween characters from House Mouse designs.

The haunted house, moon and bats are a die from Gina Marie dies. first time using it and I've had it over a year, because I wantd to use several images I decided to make a slimline card which we did last challenge ad it was trendy, Te background I did with distress oxide inks and layered it on a 3.5 X 8.5 100 pound black cardstock from Michaels.

Now aren't these little guys cute in their candy corn costumes.

And here is Maxwell in his Dracula costume

Found a new Challenge and it'a all about Halloween!!!

It's Sweet Treat Time at Christmas Kickstart!!!

Hello I hope you are all having a good weekend, it's Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and the wind up to a lot of cottagers and trailer parks too. I'm still thinking of one more weekend, I'll need it to bring home all my crafting supplies that I brought down all summer, although I took one box home last weekend, sadly it had my sentiment stamps in it so another card that will have to be finished when I get home.  Challenge 59 at Christmas Kickstart is Festive Sweet Treats and of course I used a house mouse stamp for my image and the current sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

As you see the sketch was perfect for the image, and I could use one of my super cute mini doily dies

Close up of the mouse and the doily, I coloured the candy with spica glitter pens.

Dashing through the Snow with the Jingle Belles

Only one hour left for the challenge but I just got this triple die set and it has a snowflake on it and just had to make it up for the challenge.  I had two birthday cards to finish before I could even start it too.  It was a lot of fun cutting, poking and separating into envelopes as it was all three dies of all three colours.

I chose two blues and white for the design, Let it Snow was cut three times to give it dimension and is from Elizabeth Craft Designs  One rhinestone in the center of the snowflake.

Closer look at the layers.
