Base it on a Book!!!

Hello friend, family and followers I hope you commented last challenge for a chance to win a prize celebrating Christmas in July, my winner will be posted.

A new challenge is up and running at Shopping Our Stash....Inspired by a book, wow so many books to pick from. Of course I'm at the cottage and had forgotten to check the list before I came so I had to use the supplies I had on hand, lucky for me I have 75% of my dies here and managed to come up with something that was inspired by a book....and here it is.

I was inspired by "The Great Gatsby" written in 1925 by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Of course my first inspiration was looking through the box of dies and spotting the lady die and then looking to see what it would fit. I have never used the die and it is probably 1 1/2 years in my possession. The background die is about the age but has been used once. Hello die gets the most use.

I die cut the fashionista in cream then in black, a few snip, snips and layered them on the cream image. The shoes were coloured with a marker. Added the rhinestone necklace for bling.

I'm really fond of this large Hello die, the set included Thanks and Smile, might be one more but not sure as it isn't with them.

Finished the inside with a great Stampendous sentiment, I thought it matched the front quite nicely.

Thanks for visiting today and head over to the Main Blog and check out what books the rest of the design team have picked.

White on White Christmas ~~ With a Touch of Gold and Sparkle

Back again with a card for the Jingle Belles Challenge Rustic Glam Christmas.  I decided even though I left all the parts for a similar card at home I really wanted to make it for the challenge. One of my favourite JB challenges is the one where I can made white on white cards and I wasn't going to miss making two.

I layered the three trees, one gold one shimmer white and the top one glittery white. The frame and background is shimmer white and the embossing folder I used was from Stampin'up the name eludes me at the moment. Two trees and the frame are popped up.

Close up of the elevation of the trees.

Finished the inside with a gold embossed sentiment.

Thanks for checking out my blog today and as you see I'm making progress with my Holiday Stash.

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Neutrals and Sparkles

Here I am again working on the second week of the challenge, I love using white on white and sometimes with a touch of colour so I wanted to get this finished before "mr. linky" closed.

This is my second choice of a card, the first one which is almost finished is either MIA at the cottage or sitting on my table at home as I planned on finishing it, one day when it appears I'll finish and hope for another challenge using the same theme. I used gold shimmer paper for the background, the Gina Marie wreath and a poinsettia die which is just lovely, The sentimen is from  Stampendous. All layered on an ivory 5 1/4 inch square base.

The poinsettias are popped up and I added some yellow bling for the centers, the sentiment was embossed in gold.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!!

Now that you are humming that Christmas classic tune on to the card!! My reason for it is two fold, Christmas in July Week long event at Catch the Bug and July Rudolph Days,  Here is my card for Day 7 of the event,

I used a bugaboo image coloured and fussy cut and place them on the red panel, since it was a colour challenge I added the green plaid background. The Movie Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

I love this week and had many thought to play along but crafting was not on my radar for last week I am happy to at least have gotten one card done.

Happy Birthday "Time"

It's great when you have pieces in a box you can make a card out of without making a lot of cuts, even the base was already folded in the box of scraps.  I made this for my son who's birthday is Sunday, July 28th.

The "time" piece was already cut, although one of the hands couldn't be found so had to cut one again. This is a really nice die but I had to use a "used" dryer sheet between the gold and the die as it made it easier to get out of the die after it was cut.

Close up to show the detail especially on the hands.

My plan was to use regular gold embossing  powder, it was a new jar and there was not a hope in "heck" I was getting that jar open, lucky for me I brought the Egyptian gold with me to use, it's sparkly.

Thanks for visiting today and have an awesome weekend!!!

Christmas in July at Shopping Our Stash!!

Wow it's our 400th challenge at Shopping Our Stash and do you know what that means? I have blog candy for one commenter. The theme for the challenge was my idea, it sounded like a perfect way to feel cool.  Of course I had mega ideas but settled for Olaf for my subject and a different fold too.

This is the 5 1/4 inch square card when it is closed, Olaf is a digital image from Sassy Studio Designs which I have had for a few years The huge snowflake is from Impression Obsession and is cut first in foam core then in silver.  Joy is stamped and I think it is from Hero Arts.

Here is the card set up as a Triangle Easel card. It is a very easy fold. The snowflake on the base is also from IO and the same set as the large one.
As I mentioned I have Blog Candy to celebrate our 400th challenge I chose a favourite stamp company, House Mouse Designs

This is a favourite stamp of mine it can be used for any occasion, Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary or just if you want to say Hello with Snail Mail. So don't forget to leave a comment to get your name in the draw.

I'm entering this in:

Floral ATC for Happy Little Stampers

Hello, it's my second post for today but that is because I don't have internet at the cottage and I have to go to the library and do my computer "stuff". I just wanted to add an ATC to the Happy Little Stampers ATC challenge for July, it was a very quick job just using floral background paper and a new flower die.

Along with the flower diecut I added Hello.

It's Tic-Tac-Toe Time at the Jingle Belles!!!

It seems that I have been making this card for over a week, because I have. Last weekend I made the background, put together the "snowman" and made the frame then it was time to go back to our home and so it would have to wait until I was back at the cottage to finish it. So without more talk here it is.

I pieced the had and scarf but just coloured the birds, mitts and broom with spica glitter pens. I had a diecut foam core cloud on my table so added that to balance the scene The frame was made with Gina Marie wonky rectangles. The snowman die cut is also from Gina Marie.

Close up I put his top hat up on a pop dot.

The sentiment is from Stampendous (finally brought some to the lake)

I'm entering this in:

Snowman/Red or Green/Diecuts (diagonal upper left to lover right)

Thanks for joining me here today and have a great week.

The Joke is on...............at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

J is for Joke at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers for this fortnight, I'm a day late getting my card done, there were many roadblocks along the way, and it didn't help when I left my memento ink pad at home this weekend, fortunately I had a waterbased marker in my bag.  It took me a long while to come up with a "joke" but here it is.

I finally had a chance to use my Tim Holtz Hipsters again, due to not knowing if alcohol markers and the waterbased black marker would work together I made it in shades of grey and black.

Close up

Thanks for stopping by today and hope you get your "joke" on and join us at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team offerings.

Happy Birthday big and bold!!!

This is the second Birthday card I'm posting, I made 4 last weekend unfortunately I left the camera at the cottage and had to photograph my cards with the phone camera and I'm not very good at it. The other two cards I made were with the double layer dies but this one is with a gorgeous sentiment diecut.

The sentiment was cut out of foam core so it's elevated a bit then attached to several different layers.

Seize the Birthday ~~ Anything Goes Birthday.

Happy Little Stampers ~~ Anything Goes with Dies.

So happy to be able to sneak in a few challenges.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a fantastic weekend!!!

Wishing You a Lovely Birthday!!!

I've not been crafting a whole lot but I had to make 4 Birthday cards in a hurry last weekend, sadly I left my camera at the cottage so I had to take the pictures with my phone and it isn't as good as the Canon. The 4 cards were all done with dies, so it was a fun time with the glue.

The background is a set of two layering dies and the sentiment is all in one and very tricky to get straight.

I am entering this in:

Happy Little Stampers ~~ July anything goes with dies.

Seize the Birthday ~~  #169 no toppings

Thanks for stopping by to see my non-Christmas offerings (there are more)

Still having Snow Much Fun with the Jingle Belles!!!

Since the challenge ends Wednesday at 6 p.m. I'm on a mission to get this done quickly.  I really wanted to use my very "vintage" snowman stamp from Hero Arts circa 2004 and one of my first snowmen stamps.  I made the background with oxide inks on my teflon sheet

A lot of using of off cuts here, and my fav. snowman which I fussy cut to make the scene, Let it Snow is from Impression Obsession.

I don't know where I got the sentiment stamp, could be out of a $2 bin at Michaels but it's perfect for my snowmen stamps.

The Dreaded "ONE LAYER" card!!!

Challenge #399 at Shopping Our Stash is the "dreaded one layer card" and I am NOT a fan but I put that aside and made one.

I must admit I made one card and when I added it to the blog I didn't like it at all, If I had done some thinking about it I would have done a better job. I made an A2 top fold card, taped the edges and the base to my teflon mat and used distress oxide ink, using a Tim Holtz stencil and texture paste I did an fair job with it, I do need more practice. The stencil is about 3 years old or more.

Close up to show how it pops up. I really like this and will made a wonderful Birthday, Get Well or a Sympathy card.

Next is the "fail" card, it will be much better when I cut it and layer it. but for now it's a one layer card.

Again not thinking ahead I used what I had on hand which is mostly Christmas stamps, this one is a "Fluffles" stamp long retired from Stampendous. I have lots of Fluffles and they are in a variety of occasions even one I make into a "red hat" lady.  I coloured the image with Spica Glitter pens even darkened the verse.

Close up of the super sweet image.

Ancient products used....Jingle all the Way Fluffles and the glitter pens at least 10 years old.

Thanks for visiting today and head over to the Main Blog and see the awesome one layer cards the rest of the design team have made. (much more ingenious than mine)
