Wildflowers in white.

I made a "thinking of you" card for a friend, I don't make a lot of black and white cards but I found the most awesome patterned paper pad at Dollarama for $4.00 WOW, even if I only use 1/2 of the pages it's a bargain. I also used (for the first time) wildflower (or weed) dies, I cut all 6 of them just to decide which I wanted to use. Here is my card.

This is one of my favourite sketches to use. Isn't that flowered paper just gorgeous.

Close up  of the die cuts.

Finished the inside with one more of the flower die cuts.

Have Yourself a merry "LITTLE" Christmas at the Jingle Belles.

The emphasis is on the little Lauren and Stephanie want to see Inchies (1") and Twinchies (2") traditionally these are little square pictures but you can use any shape, Stephanie used circles.  Here is what I came up with using some cute images from Bugaboo Stamps (check them out they have freebies every Friday)

Aren't these penguins just the cutest little images whick I coloured with my Spica Glitter pens. Let it Snow is a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The inchies are elevated with squares of fun foam.

Finished inside with a leftover scrap of patterned paper and a favourite sentiment.

Challenge #343 at Shopping Our Stash is ~~ Stencils

Another fabulously interesting challenge from Mimi!!! Stencils!!! Check out the inspiration at Shopping Our Stash, the design team have outdone themselves, while you are there check out the awesome new header on the blog, Lauren did a fabulous job of designing it. Back to Stencils......I'm really not experienced with stencils although I have a few, two have been used but the rest just sit in my stash. The one I used is from Art-C it is a stencil and stamps and I have no idea where I got it from or how long I have had it, I sat and pondered it for quite a while and nothing comes to mind all I know is I have never used it before.

I bought distress inks and applicators last year and have used them very little so this was a test of what I could do with them with a stencil, I haven't ventured into mixed media very much although have lots of things to play with. Since this is a stencil challenge I wanted to give center stage to the stencil so for embellishments I used a wildflower die-cut and a couple of butterflies.  Using broken china oxide ink and sponge applicator I covered the stencil and white cardstock making sure I darkened the centers of the design, the finished piece was layered on some turquoise cardstock then mounted on a white base

Closer look at the wildflower die-cut and butterflies.

Finished inside of the card with a leftover wildflower die cut and a fitting sentiment for a friend's Mom that is in the hospital

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you dig into your stash and show how you use stencils.

It's Saturday and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers has a NEW Challenge!!

Two weeks have just flown by and here we are with a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, I hope this challenge is more to your liking than G is for Galaxy (it was a fun one). The  new challenge is T is for Tissue so get your thinking caps on and come up with a project using tissue on it. Check out the design team cards as they show you many different ways to use tissue.

I had plan A and plan B well plan A didn't even make it to the drawing board. This is a technique using tissue and a glue stick. First I coloured the image I embossed the black and coloured with copics that part is very important as once you rub the glue stick over the whole image any other colouring medium will run. The stamp I used is from the Artful Stamper and the die cut is an unbranded die.

The technique is Faux Silk and the close up shows it really does look like silk.

I finished the inside to look like the front with the frame, the sentiment is from the $2 bin at Michaels, another challenge with no snark.

Thanks for stopping by today and be creative this weekend.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #342 Home Sweet Home

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash ~~ Home Sweet Home ~~ use a house image on your project. I have a few house stamps but I decided I wanted to use a house die I've had for a while and never been used.

I cut the strip of houses twice and layered them I added them to a die cut oval of watercolour paper that I made last fall when playing with colour burst powders. everything on the card with the exception of the base was a scrap.

Close up of the houses and snow piles.

Finished inside.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the Main Blog and see what the rest of the design team have made.

Jingle Belle's Challenge ~~ Take Two of a Colouring We Will Go.

I'm back again with my second card, both my cards I have had the ideas since the challenge was announced February 9th.

For this card I used what I thought was a failed galaxy background which was left over from the Galaxy challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers (you have until Friday at 11.59 p.m.to enter) You will have a real good chance for the Queen of Snark and no snark required.  For the background I used three shades of blue distress inks and Black soot. The snowman was coloured with copic markers.  This is an Easel card but didn't take a picture of it as an easel.

This is the card opened, I used white enamel dots from the Eyelet Outlet store.
The spellbinders dies I used are Labels 8 and Fancy labels 8

I added the sentiment to the back of the easel card.

I am entering this in:

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ A Colouring We Will Go.

What a great challenge....I LOVE to colour and the Jingle Belles are in the second week of the challenge and I just finished my first card (second one is done too). I'm so happy to finally get these created as when things are bothering me they fit in my dreams and I'm really tired in the morning. Now the brain can get on with the next challenge.

For this card I coloured the image with Spica Glitter pens and the background was made with Colourburst pigment powders on watercolour paper.

Getting in tune with the Olympics and snowboarding I used ATV snowboarder and fussy cut it out and popped him up over the snowbanks.

Finished the inside with one of my favourite sentiments

A Collage-y Valentine.

Now that the recipient has received the Valentine I made for her I can show everyone. A fellow design team member designs the most awesome collage cards, I am in awe of her work so I decided to give it a whirl, I think just because I haven't made many.

The patterned paper seemed like the perfect item to start with and the doily just because Lauren uses them on her collage cards. the flamingos just because she loves them and of course Eyelet Outlet paper flowers and heart brad. Hello is an unbranded die cut.

Close-up of the flower and flamingos (a Gina Marie die)

Finished the inside with a generic sentiment (I use for many occasions) and some leftover patterned paper.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the weekend.

Valentine ATCs........

I just found this Challenge Blog...Happy Little Stampers....There are 6 different challenges each month so there would be something for everyone check them out HEREWith a lot of leftover scraps from making valentines a couple of weeks ago I decided to give the ATC challenge a whirl as the Theme is Hearts. I made two but my camera was being a pain and the picture of the two together was way too out of focus to use.

This is a bit out of focus but you can read the sentiment, Live , Laugh and Love.

I added a few random rhinestones and the love was die cut out of metallic poster boardl  Everything else on the ATC was a scrap.

I am entering both of these in
Happy Little Stampers ~~ ATC for February

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope your Valentine Day was awesome.

Valentine's Day 2018

Very busy day, I made two ATCs and a Valentine card for my Grandson's Family, I also baked a loaf of Cinnamon Raisin bread and had my eyes tested.  The card was a very simple quick card as I was short on time.

I knew I didn't have time to colour the image I wanted to use but I remembered the cute beaver die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  This was made from scraps too and the heart he is holding is left over from making Valentines a couple of weeks ago.. Ribbon is from Dollarama and is a couple of years old.

There are 10 pieces to the set and I used all but 2 for making the beaver. I popped him up with a wobble.

Since my heard die and stamp were still out I finished the inside with a simple sentiment. I quickly put it in an envelope and hand delivered, guess what I forgot to sign it.

Thanks for visiting today and I hope your Valentine's Day was fabulous.

You Stamped with What? is the Question at Shopping Our Stash!!!

Shopping Our Stash challenge is You Stamped with What? that means to use something you don't normally stamp with. The design team was far more adventurous than I was, you need to check them out. First my card then what I stamped with.  There are a few more pictures than normal.

Stardream paper, gold posterboard and gold trim, a Memory Box snowflake die and most are over 2  years old and longer for the die and gold trim retired from Stampin'up.

Now what I used!!!

A medium sized acrylic block and a bevy of elastics, versamark water mark ink.

I inked and stamped, inked and stamped crisscrossing on the gold posterboard then embossed it in gold. This was my base for the ornaments.

As you see all ornaments are the same colour, I elevated them on the blue stardream paper and the embossing folder is a cuttlebug winter pack I received many years ago and love it.

Finished the inside with a favourite sentiment and I carried the ornament theme to the inside.

Thanks for stopping by today and do check out the Main Blog and see what the rest of the team have used for their "stamping". Then figure out what you want to "stamp" with and don't forget to tell us what it was you used, make it fun and creative.

Got Cake?

With three hours to spare I'm using Tuesday Morning Sketch #439, it seems like a long time since I've managed to get one done and it worked perfectly for my House Mouse Birthday card for Seize the Birthday and I did the toppings which is Candles. So here it is.

First inking for this stamp, coloured with markers and cut out with Elizabeth Craft design ovals.

Close up and I see I need to do some retouching on his cute little face.

Finished the inside with a stampworks sentiment and a scrap of patterned paper.

Challenges I'm entering

It's Saturday and time for a NEW Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!!

Another two weeks has flown by and February is just a ticking along as is our snowy weather. Here in SWO we have had negative 10 to -20 Celsius and snowflurries every day. It help when you have a bunch of crafting to do. The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge is G is for Galaxy!! I know I've said it before but some challenges SCARE me and this was one but I watched a few videos checked to see if I had some of the colours and set out to make a mess well not one but 4 messes.  The video I followed (although mine isn't as awesome as hers) is from the Craft Bunny.  I found it easy to follow and I think I achieved a galaxy background.

I do need more practice with the technique but this was one of the "fails" when I left the panels to watch the hockey game  and went back to them I was really liking this one. I used Cameo Coral cardstock I thought it highlighted the coral in the galaxy, then layered it on silver and on a black base. I chose a simple die cut...Shine which is from a pack of  10 dies.

Here is a muted version of my galaxy background it was layered on So Saffron and Gold with the same small sentiment.

This is what I call a "fail" I love the background but detest the splotches of ink. I found a different video for this one and it was just using three colours of blue distress inks. Broken Glass, Salty Ocean and I used faded jeans but it could have called for Chipped Sapphire (on my list to buy) and of course the Black Soot and was very easy. Here is the video for this one.

Well that's all for now folks Don't forget to check out the AWESOME cards made by the rest of the design team just click HERE. I hope you will try this challenge it was a lot of fun and for me messy (I will give hubby heck for getting black soot on the towel)

Challenge #340 at Shopping Our Stash is ~~ Olympics!!!

The Shopping Our Stash team wants you to honour the Winter Olympics by making a project featuring a SPORT ~~ Any sport you would see at the winter Olympics, Figure skating, Luge, Bobsled, Slalom, Hockey, speed skating and the list goes on and on, I think Curling is on the agenda for this year too. so many options. I chose Women's Hockey!!! I'm a hockey fan, hubby not so much since we only have one tv (on cable) I usually put up with all the dumb stuff men watch for most of the day so I can watch a hockey game. He cheers them on especially when the score is tied, he says "anyone score" just so it doesn't go to overtime  LOL.  anyway here is my tribute to the Woman's Olympic Hockey Team. Go Canada Go.

The digital image is from Lacy Sunshine Stamps, I am sure I've had it for two years and havn't used it yet. The background paper is from a Christmas pad also over two years old but I thought the circles looked like the Olympic rings.

Close up of the image.

Finished the inside with the leftover scrap of patterned paper and one of the first Birthday sentiment I bought over 15 years or more old.

I would like to enter this in
Seize the Birthday ~~ Anything Goes Birthday.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the Main Blog and check out what sports the rest of the team have made.
