Shape up for the Holidays!!!

Not that kind of shaping up lol. The Jingle Belles Rock challenge is Shaping up for the Holidays they want to see "shaped" cards....no squares no rectangles so I "hexed it"

I used both sets of Hexagon dies, one is stitched and the other fits in them, this was their maiden voyage. I made the smooshed background with distress oxide inks. The horse and sleigh die is from Stampin'up (retired) and I cut white foam core with it to give it dimension, the trees were also a part of the set of dies. The image is elevated on a piece of fun foam.

Close up, you can see the difference with using foam core and regular cardstock. I also added a few Eyelet outlet bling to the sky.

Finished inside with a sentiment from Stampendous.

It's Rudolph Days in August.....

I'm in good time to get my Rudolph Days card in for August, Tuesday Morning sketches previewed the sketch on Monday and I knew it was a great sketch for the image I was working on for Rudolph days.

First off I do not have an idea of the company this digi stamp is from I just searched my images and couldn't find this one, I'm sure it is on a flash drive (it's that old) or on the other computer. I also didn't take notice of which paper pad I got the background paper from, I was excited it matched the colours I chose. The image was cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs stitched oval and elevated on some fun foam.

Finished the inside to match the front and the sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

I'm entering this in Rudolph Days for August

Thanks for visiting today and only 4 months until Christmas so better get moving and get your holiday cards started..

Quit Buggin' Me!!!

Challenge 369 at Shopping Our Stash is "quit buggin'me" ~~ use an insect on your card. What an easy challenge Donna thought up, I guess it's because she didn't want anything too stressful after her holidays, LOL.  I had a few ideas for the challenge and threw a few more odds and ends into my bag going back to the lake this week, my image was a digital image already printed and I have no clue who's it is, I have had it in a stack of images at the lake since May, I knew it would be handy for something.

I coloured the image with spica glitter pens (wasn't taking a chance colouring something this small with copics) the background I smooshed three shades of distress oxide ink on the teflon mat spritzed with water and had fun dabbing the cardstock in it until I liked it, then had to wait for it to dry (note to self~~do the smooshing first) The background die is 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 so covered the card I used foam core to cut it out, and it was fun getting to cut all the way through but I managed. it just gives a finished look which you can't really tell in the picture.

Since insects are the name of the game I used butterflies but better yet I used the mini lady bug brads I bought from the Eyelet outlet Store. Aren't they just the cutest. (there are also bees too)

I didn't finish the inside yet as it's always great to have one or two around that can be used for any occasion that comes up that you need a quick card.

A is for Apple is the New Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!!

I can honestly say I was not thinking it was time for a new challenge, didn't I post one just last week? The summer like a ball rolling down a hill, picking up speed as it goes....slow down Summer. So I finally clued in that I needed to get a card made, not much in the apple area of stamps so I ask, does it need to be all about a "real" apple? so I decided just to build on a sentiment.

The image is (I think) from Sassy Studio Designs and I've had it for years and came in handy for this challenge, Snow White's step-mother, isn't she charming. The sentiment was computer generated.

Closer look at the sentiment and the enamel dots I'm hoping remind you of apples.

Since I had two ideas for the challenge here is my second non-snarky version.

Since I'm always in need of Birthday cards I made a house mouse birthday,  not sure if he is jumping or apple rolling but it fits the challenge.

Close up of the main attraction.

"Hot, Hot, Hot"

Challenge #368 at Shopping Our Stash is ~~ Hot Hot Hot!!! which translates into anything that might be hot, cooking, spicy, summer sun use your imagination.  I'm glad to be back, I had a bit of a "blip" when I forgot my computer at home and I was at the cottage so I couldn't get a blog post done, they frown on your downloading pictures on the library computer lol.  For this challenge I had a couple of ideas so I went with them both.

Nothing cuter than a couple of mice having a marshmallow roast using the fire power of Hot Peppers.

Finished inside.

Now the second idea~~

A favourite "girlfriends" stamp and a "hot" sentiment, anyone 50+ will sympathize with the hottie on the card.

Pretty well everything is pretty old, the chevron paper is from a Christmas pack and I used my old spellbinders and cuttlebug to cut the circles.

Thanks for visiting today and don't forget to head over to the the MAIN BLOG and check out what interesting "hot" ideas the rest of the design team have made.

I'm getting Sketchy!!!

Finally getting a chance to post my card for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge, and it'a a great sketch!!! Of course at the lake I have a lot of equipment but the only thing I had to go with the sketch was the same snowmen I've used before. They were the perfect size to work with and I usually make more than one card with them at Christmas.

The snowmen are from Sunshine designs, the sentiment is from High Hopes, paper is from BoBunny I think, it is so well used I think the cover is missing.

Finished the inside with a Stampendous sentiment.

D is for Denim at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Another fortnight has rolled by and it's August wow where is the summer going? Have you had a good summer so far? It certainly has been a great summer at the cottage, I'm managing without internet there this year, not sure if I will next year, not sure if I can get it for 6 months or not.  The challenge at the Sisterhood of Stnarky Stampers is D is for Denim, had to think about this for a bit but then I remembered my all time favourite stamps "girlfriends" from Art Impressions so this is what I came up with..

Not much to explain here but those are denim jeans and I don't know about you but I think I have had this experience.

Not much of a snark but it works for me.

Love this $2.00 sentiment from Michaels and I'm getting my moneys worth out of it too. Works perfect for the AI stamps.

That's all for today but head over to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Blog and check out the short list of rules and see what the rest of the design team have made.

Inspired by the Jingle Belles Blog Banner.

I had a lot of fun making this card, we were at the cottage and expecting family on Saturday which included my 1 year old great grandson so I needed to pack up all my crafty supplies that were in the living room (I don't have a craft room there). So getting ready to make this card I wasn't sure where anything was except the papers.  It took many trips to the extra bedroom to collect everything. Here is my finished card.

This was the inspiration for my card and the challenge for the Jingle Belles rock!!!

I picked from the snowflakes, the white, turquoise and silver.

As you see I added one gold star (there are gold stars in the banner)
and look I used washi tape!!!

Finished the inside with patterned  paper and a favourite vertical sentiment and a couple of extra snowflakes.

I'm slipping in on the last day....

Challenge #366 at Shopping Our Stash is ~~ Silhouettes!!!

This week at Shopping Our Stash is ~~ Silhouettes!!! I'm thinking after last weeks "shaker" we needed something a little less complicated. I'm sure glad I had presence of mind to add a few dies to my trip to the cottage or I might have been really sad.

I love this stag die, it can be used many ways, the background was made with broken glass and peacock feathers distress oxide ink on my teflon mat and spritzed with water, so much fun to blot and drag the cardstock through it until you have what you like. As soon as I cut the image my bigshot quit working, I managed to emboss the white background but it's not perfect.

Close up so you can see the background and the detail in the die cut.

Finished with a sentiment using broken glass ink.

Thanks for joining me here today and check out the Main Blog and see what the rest of the design team have made.

It's July Rudolph Days!!!

I'm really on time with this month's Rudolph Days, usually I see it posted and then I'm scrambling to get something made before the end of the month. I have used one of my favourite sets of dies to make a scene.

The evergreen tree and the deer were in my odds and ends box already cut and waiting. The background is made with oxide inks, the birds and deer are from Impression Obsession.

Finished the inside with an extra cardinal and tree from the "box"
