It's Our Annual Pink Halloween Challenge!!!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge #94 is Pink Halloween in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month which is October. I think it's fun to make a pink Halloween card, and try to come up with something a little different, this year it coincides with the NBUS challenge so I used an image from Kraftin' Kimmie that has never seen ink and a spiderweb die with a spider that has never been die cut before.

I bought the pink plaid paper a while ago on a trip to Len's Mills with this challenge in mind so it technically is another NBUS. The image is coloured with spica glitter pens so she is really sparkly.

Hope you can see how it sparkles.

Since my craft room is in total disarray I have not located my Halloween sentiments but here is the inside following through with the design from the front.

Challenge I would like to enter:

It's a "trifecta" Jingle Belles, Merry Monday and Rudolph Days!!!

Knowing Rudolph days was on and Merry Monday Christmas challenge  popped into my mailbox the same day just worked right in to making another card for the Jingle Belles Christmas tic tac toe!!!

Wow it's not a House Mouse!!! but it's a super cute penguin stamp from Penny Black. I've used ever year for who knows how long,  For the Jingle Belles Rock tic tac toe I used the Diagonal line Red, cardstock and bling but it also plays into the center vertical line blue, cardstock and snow.  again would have been more if I could have figured out how to put a flower on it lol.  Merry Monday Christmas challenge was Penguins, second of the trifecta, well Rudolph days is from the 25th of the month until the last day and it happens each month of the year...bonus!!!

And here is the "BLING"

A favourite "snow" sentiment from High Hopes Stamps

Here is the trifecta I'm entering:

Jingle Belles rock ~~ Tic tac toe

There you have it for today,  unless I get really busy check back on Saturday it's a "special" yearly challenge and you won't be disappointed with the design team cards and we know you will want to support our  special challenge.

There is a NEW Challenge at Shopping Our Stash.....Not Your Momma's Card

The Shopping Our Stash gals would like to see a project that might be a little inappropriate to give your Mother,  Well I searched my stash of AI people. girlfriends and oldies nothing really jumped out at me but then I saw a DOLLY MAMA ......I haven't used one of them in a long while so here is my slightly inappropriate card.

I don't have a lot of Dolly Mamas but the ones I have I love. they are just so funky and a little sarcastic. Of course I had to use lime green and black just because I could and had the already smooshed paper from Walmart.

Perfect sentiment for someone stressing over the next birthday,  I made one of these a few years ago for my daughter for one of her "big" years. I  used wink of stella on the sentiment and cut out a popped it up, as well as the hair and bow. (how fun was that fussy cutting?)

After the sentiment on the front of the card  what else could be said but Happy Birthday?

I would like to enter this in:

Seize the Birthday ~~ without the topping.

Thanks for stopping by today and head over to the main blog and check out how inappropriate the other design team members can be.

Who do I LOVE? The Jingle Belles Tic-Tac-Toe!!!

I just can't resist a tic-tac-toe challenge and the one at the Jingle Belles Rock is so much fun, I'm in need of holiday cards to take to a rally in October so I'm taking advantage of  the challenge. This time I used the center horizontal line Glitter, Cardstock, Stocking.  I would have done the top horizontal line but just couldn't bring myself to put a flower on my card.

Of course when "stocking" was said I just had to use a house mouse stamp of two in a sock. I chose not to do a border on it as I wanted to showcase the absolutely gorgeous square snowflake die (which btw was a "joy" to  cut and pick)  The image is offset as that was a spot that didn't cut well. The red glitter layer is some adhesive backed glitter but it will not cut images or sentiments so I'm using it as backgrounds.  The snowflake die and red glitter layer are both NBUS items.

Finished the inside with a leftover frame and a sentiment from Printworks (love their sentiments)

NBUS Challenge #1snowflake frame and red glitter paper are the NBUS items.

House Mouse & Friends Monday challenge ~~ going with Anything goes,

Thanks for checking my blog today and I'll see you Tuesday for Shopping Our Stash!!!

Happy Birthday Harry

It's my Hubby's birthday today, I left his prezzie at home so he will get another birthday when we get home although one card is enough.  The NBUS challenge is on now and wowsers did I use a lot of nbus items on this card!!!

First I used the NBUS faux suede cardstock I bought at $$ rama and ran it though the mustache embossing folder, the mustache paper was also a nbus along with the mustache brads from the eyelet outlet.

The diecut stitched squares were mounted on fun foam before adding the brads so it popped them up.

I used the left over paper and a scrap of cardstock, added the arrow washi tape (eyelet outlet) to the edges just for interest,

There you have it for now don't forget to check back later there is another Jingle Belles to be blogged.

So Many Ways to Play Christmas Tic-Tac-Toe at the Jingle Belles Rock!!!

This time I went with the middle vertical line  Snow/Cardstock/Blue. I used one of my favourite stamp companies ~~ House Mouse Designs but this time I used a "gruffie"

Since I was crafting at the cottage I had limited cardstock, I had lots of white but not too many "holiday" colours, but had that scrap of Pacific Point cardstock  The background was embossed with "softly falling" from Stampin;up Let it Snow is a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs and the ovals are Spellbinders classic ovals, large. The fur on his hat and the snow is liquid pearls and stickles.

The inside was finished with a sentiment from High Hopes Rubber Stamps  which is perfect for "snowy cards"

Reminder of the Lost and Found Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Lost and Found......well I had many ideas for techniques that I hadn't tried for a long time and it's Cracked Glass!! It had been so long I had trouble getting it to work perfect but as with all crafters  only another crafter will see the imperfections.

I did google "purple" roses and there are real purple roses so I coloured the rose purple from  with my alcohol markers. Layered ultra thick embossing powder three times then put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then cracked it although it didn't work the first time and I couldn't seem to get the glaze to stay smooth but I'm happy with the results.

Close up of the "cracks"

I just purchased a new sentiment for the inside, it's from Printworks, their website is under construction but they have a facebook page click HERE.  I have three other sentiments from them and use them all the time. I like this because it can be used for many occasions, anything that is celebrated once a year.

The Jingle Belles are Rockin' a Christmas tic-tac-toe challenge!!!

I had a very productive week at the cottage, not only did I get 4 design team cards (3 are posted)  2 Holiday cards, a birthday card and a Smile tag, some will be posted at a later date.  Back to the Jingle Belles Rock challenge it's a Christmas Tic-Tac-Toe challenge and there are so many lines to be played (just like the lottery)

I chose the diagonal line Red/Cardstock/Bling and one of my favourite holiday flowers the poinsettia and the stamp I used is a long retired PSX (miss them) stamp.  I coloured this with making a faux silk card but it was way too pretty to cover with tissue and glue stick. The image was cut with an Elizabeth Craft Designs stitched rectangle and layered on red. The gold layer is strips of a  sticky glitter sheet from the $$ store. It comes in beautiful colours but sorry to say it will not die cut images but is great to use for a background.

Close up of the image , I used some stickles for the centers of the flowers.(I hope this passes for bling)

Finished inside with a favourite holiday sentiment.

Time for a New Challenge at Shopping Our Stash!! and for me it's a TWO-FER

Can you believe it's over half way to the end of the month, these days are going faster than I want but for September the weather is beautiful really warm during the day but cools off at night.  On with the challenge at Shopping Our Stash and it's "the Apple of my eye" ~~ Schools back in session so create something with an apple or apples on it, it might be an apple pie or apple blossoms or really go rogue like one of our design team and make a pine-APPLE.  I was almost stumped, I was sure I had a house mouse with an apple but alas I was dreaming so I did the next best thing....and here it it.

I used Tim Holtz blueprint apple for my image, I coloured it and for some reason or other the red ink was not working well and became very shiny so I added a bit of acetate to make a "picture".  The embossing folder is autumn leaves and I might have used it once before and it's over a year old.  No inside sentiment right now as I wasn't sure on who I was giving it to,

Since I was having a time with those markers I made a second card (I needed a birthday card for a friend)  so I went a totally different way with this one.

Apple Blossoms I also tried a new technique (which I need practice with)  "colour lifting"  I also used a sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.  I really did some stash busting on this one, all papers and vellum were sitting on my table.  Celebrate is from a set that has never seen ink.

Close up of the celebrate.

Finished inside with some left-over paper.

L is for ~~ Lost and Found ~~ Challenge #93

It's Saturday and time for a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, L is for Lost and Found, it's not what you are thinking....we want you to revisit a technique you haven't done in a while or even a card fold you haven't used for eons.  With many ideas running wild ~~ I settled on Shaving Cream background.  I found my original can of foam shaving cream and some "who knows how old" glossy cardstock and had a messy bit of fun.

I planned on making a muted background to use for a Winter sky so I used Taken with Teal and Tempting Turquoise reinkers from Stampin'up.

Now you see why I wanted a Winter sky!!! I wanted to use my super cute Snowman die from Gina Marie Designs. His hat and scarf were cut separate and paper pieced, the rest was coloured with markers and the buttons are Bling strips from Eyelet Outlet. The snowflake border die cut is also from Gina Mari and the super cute trees are from Impression Obsession.

Close up of the "winter sky"

Finished the inside with the snowflake border and a super cute sentiment from High Hopes

Emboss Like A Boss!!!!!

Challenge #320 at Shopping Our Stash is "emboss like a boss" we want to see both wet and dry embossing on your project. Not sure about you but other than doing some emboss resist I haven't done wet embossing in a long time and it was so much fun to pair it with a cool embossing folder.

First I made the background with distress oxide ink and then ran it through the music embossing folder from Darice.

Using tips from Jennifer Maguire I  cut 3 Hero Arts large snowflakes in white and glued them together, then using versamark watermark I embossed it in clear embossing powder 3 times, just look at that shine. I added a Eyelet Outlet clear bumpy bling dot to the center. You can just see the music background in the picture.

The let it snow die cut is from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I also cut three of these in a teal cardstock and embossed it in clear then I heated it up and sprinkled some Art Glitter Agean blue glitter (if was a freebie I got at last 7 years ago)

Finished the inside with a 2005 Stampabilities Christmas sentiment.

Not only was this card inspired by the challenge it was inspired by the current challenge at the
Jingle Belles Rock

I am entering this in"

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Your favourite Christmas music option use sheet music.
I used a music embossing folder

That was a lot of fun and mess to make this card,  when you wet emboss three times it sure makes the image smooth and shiny.

Thanks for hanging  here today and head over to the main blog and check out the rules and see what the rest of the awesome design team have made.

What's Trending?

Shopping Our Stash challenge #319 is What's Trending? I'm not sure what is trending and in quizzing around I got lot's of answers so I picked one that I had everything for on hand.  Of course the Oxide inks are not really old but I had two in my stash that had never been used, in fact I took the plastic off the ink pad to use it. I also have seen a lot of flamingos lately and I had a couple that have only been used to send a flamingo lovin' friend a few. The acetate is also old not sure where I even bought it and not only did I have one project case with it I had two.  Anyway I'm happy with what I think is trending.....and here it is.

I had a lot of fun making this card, I made one in a class a couple of weeks ago and wanted to try one on my own. The background is done by smooshing broken china ink on my teflon sheet, spritzing it with water and dragging the cardstock through it until I liked how it swirled. All the dies I used are unbranded ones, with the exception of the IO clouds and the happy birthday.

The inside of the card.

Side view

And a beach scene wouldn't be complete without some super cute Eyelet Outlet seashell brads.

I will add the sentiment to the back of the card or maybe a short sentiment on the inside.

I really enjoyed playing with the oxide ink and look forward to getting a few more colours. Now it's your turn, what do you think is trending? we would like to know so enter your project at Shopping Our Stash Blog before Monday September 11 @ 11.55 EDT.
