I'm Almost Late....but I Made It!!

It's a good job March has 31 days or I might not have made a card for Rudolph Days, So for you today it's a trifecta, sketch by Tuesday Morning Sketches, Plaid prompt for the Jingle Belles and an entry for Rudolph days.

I haven't used this little guy for a couple of years he fit's so perfect in an circle, When I saw the sketch I knew I just had to use it for my card. For the Jingle Belles it was We Wish You A Plaid Christmas so I went out on a limb here using the houndstooth plaid from a Heidi Swapp 6 X 6 paper pad.

Close up of the image, I added some stickles to his hat and the snow.

Simple ho ho ho for a sentiment.

I'm adding this to:

Thanks for stopping by today and have an awesome weekend.

Under the Weather.....

Time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash and it's Under the Weather so there are a couple of choices for your project, as the title says Weather could be rain, snow, hurricane lots of choices or you could make a Get Well project, which is what I ended up making. Since I had a lighthouse diecut card front and the distress oxide background in a project holder (from last summer at the cottage) I figured it would make a good masculine get well card.

I have used this die a few times but cut it out with a circle die this time I decided to use it as it was intended and how nice I had the perfect background too. I did add the red roof, now I noticed there was something funky going on with the lighthouse but thought it looked weathered and old so I enhanced it with the C00 copic. Since this past weekend I was doing the Scrapbooks & Cards three day card making crop I used a stencil and die from Pink Fresh Studio, love the whole set, flowers, words, dies, stencils I can hardly wait to dive in and use some of the other items. It was a fabulous, high paced not much time for eating or napping fun 3 days, (my experience with stencils is just above level 0)

Close up of the background and the lighthouse, it looks like weathered brick don't you think.

I have very few "get well" sentiments but used one of my earlier purchases from Hero Arts and is quite useful to let someone know you are thinking of them. I didn't get fancy with the inside but still might add a small lighthouse stamp to the inside.

S is for Sister Chris!!!

Edna is very proud of our Sister Chris she is a celebrity!!
Chris is a designer of not one but two sets of snarky stamps at STAMPlorations so the rest of the sisters are honouring her by showing off some of her Snarky Sentiments. Here is my tribute.

Of course when thinking snarky the first thing that comes to mind is Art Impressions, and a friend sent me a cute set a while ago and I used one of the images on the card 2 weeks ago, well the set was still out and I realized it paired perfectly with one of the Chris Dring Designs stamps from STAMPlorations. I saw the  current Tuesday Morning Sketch and it was perfect for my image although putting that square off-set was almost a deal breaker, it's been a while since I've played along with them.

Closer look at the super cute image.

And a closer look at the sentiment.

Make it Masculine!!

Here we are on the 15th of March with a new challenge at A Tiny Craft (ATC) Challenge ~~ Masculine. I'm finding masculine atcs are as much trouble as full sized cards but after a few mind changes I finally settled on a NBUS not only one but two for my ATCs. To join in the fun (and give me lots of ideas for anything masculine) you can make cards, 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inch rectangle used vertical or horizontal or you can make 2 1/2 inch coins. Here is my offering for the challenge I hope it inspires you.

In searching for something I spotted this great antique card die, sorry no name on it,  and in the "25th hour" I went with it. I had just finished another card and found the background paper in the same Dollarama pack I had used for a floral card. The gears are another item that has been in my die box for a few years just waiting for a use, I found some matte silver cardstock in my scrap box to cut them from.

Here is a close up of a single card, I cut two of each cars out of 110 lb black cardstock to glue them together with acetate for the windows, then they are elevated with dimensional strips. The gears are flat attached. I added think silver sticker lines to the edge of each of the cards.

Here is a side view of the ATC to show the elevation.

Here is something I have had for probably 15 years and not used much it  was always tucked away but when I saw all the tiny holes in the die that had to be poked out I remembered it. I might be the only one that is very excited about it too. Here it is.

It is from Sizzix and for use with intricate dies and as you see there are a lot of things to poke out with this die and I was cutting 8.

NBUS ~~ #36 (not just one but two nbus)

Spring is in the Air.

Spring is in the Air at Shopping Our Stash, but it certainly is not in the air here in South Western Ontario we just had three days of snow-showers, not much accumulation but it was like the storm was circling the city, clear for a bit then white-outs. At least it gave me some crafting time and this is what I made for the  challenge. For the challenge we want to see something with Wings on your project, birds, butterflies, bees, dragonflies lots of choices. My choice was a Hummingbird.

I used a House Mouse Designs wood mount stamp called Helping Hand and decided to use a favourite spring colour, purple. I did partial cutting so the hummingbird was partly outside the oval, The patterned paper I've had for a while it was  purchase from Dollarama mainly because of the purple designs and it's almost a cardstock weight. The layer and the oval were cut from........Stampin'up called Lavender lace now that is really digging into my stash.

Not sure why my close-up pictures are fuzzy and out of 3 programs not one has a spot to fix it. The image was popped up with two heavy cardstock ovals and a dimensional is under the wings.

Finished the inside with some scraps of paper and a Hero Arts vertical sentiment, one of the first ones I bought when I started stamping.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

When I saw the challenge at Color Hues I immediately thought St. Patrick's Day and Fluffles. The two colours to use are Green and Gold. I have worked on my card off and on for almost a week, life really gets in the way of crafting sometimes. Enough said, so here is my finished card.

I made an alcohol ink background  by scribbling greens on a huge ziplock bag, spritzed it with alcohol then took a 4 X 6 photo sheet (bought a couple of packs at a yardsale) put it shiny side down wiggled it a bit then lifted it up. Drying time is minimal. Stamped and coloured Fluffles, layered him/her on green and then gold. Added a couple of banners and a Hero Art's "one liner" cut with a banner die. Then because I really wanted to have another bit of gold on the front I added Stampendous stickers I've had for at least 20  years.

Close up of Fluffles (sorry it's a tad out of focus) The image was elevated with three rectangles of heavy cardstock .

Finished with a Stampablilities stamp (have no idea where I bought it) added a scrap of patterned paper with a sticker.

I'm adding this to:

Color Hues ~~ #36 Green & Gold

Show us Your Pussycats ~~  #76 Furrything goes.

V is for Vibrant at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

Looks like Edna is seeing which background flatters her new hair colour.

Front and upper left in all it's glory is a genuine, first edition Chris. Dring Designs sentiment it perfectly paired with the Art Impressions coffee gal. As always you need to have everything that is trending and a few years ago I had to have Dylusions sprays, I bought 4 I know I made a card with the purple and have used the turquoise but the blue was still sealed and as you see didn't spray well. I always use a fairly deep box to spray the cardstock and when I finished I set the piece to dry (and warp) looked over and my "helper" was proudly sitting in the box. The background was attached to black layer and on the Green base. The image was framed and yes I see the dimensional backing now and I was way too far into the cropping, lightening, adding the watermark to start over. Those suckers stick to everything.

Close-up of the sentiment, oh yes and the coffee lady.

Time for the March Edition of Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge.

Oh my where did February go? it's already time for March's challenges at Happy Little Stampers.

As you see it's always anything goes, so if it is Christmas we want to see it!! Twine is optional, now I cannot remember the last time I used twine so this challenge gave me a run for my money. I started out making my card and was very excited as it was looking pretty good and THEN I realized I left no place to add twine so off to plan B, it seems I'm having a lot of Plan B moments these day but I perservered and this is what I came up with.

The image I used is a wood mount stamp from Inkadinkado, I love these funky birds and they are fun to colour, I used just a basic sketch added some red/white baker's twine and popped up the image on top. I would have likes a gold sentiment but only had silver sticker sentiments.

Here is a closer look at the funky winter birds.

The inside was finished with a Rubber Stampede sentiment, some paper scraps and silver stickers.

I would like to add this to:

Crazy Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge.
Thanks for stopping by to day and check out the awesome projects the rest of the Design Team have made.

Have you ever seen a Holiday Narwhal?

I have two Holiday Narwhals for you today. I love to enter the Jingle Belles Christmas challenge and I have been a little slack the last two challenges, not that I didn't have ideas just no time to execute them. The challenge is Oh Christmas Stencil, Oh Christmas Stencil, well I don't have much in the line of Christmas Stencils and I am a "newbie" at stencils so don't look too close.  Since I planned on using my Christmas/Holiday narwal stamp and die I used a "bubbles" stencil fit the 5 1/2 square perfectly.

The cute narwhals are popped up on some waves I made with a piece of smooshed cardstock and a rectangle die. there is one flat attached and one popped up to "ground" the narwals. I added a night of navy narrow frame for interest.

Closer look at the narwhals and the wave as well as my stenciling.

Finished the inside with a scrap of navy and did a bit of stenciling around the Impression Obsession sentiment.

Time for a NEW Challenge at Shopping Our Stash!!

Hello fellow crafters, it's time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash and the theme is Full Metal Jacket.....use something metal on your project, metallic cardstock, a charm, wet embossing with one of the metal embossing powders.  I went with the easy one, making a metal car.

I haven't used this die set in a long time and I quite often check to see when I used it last by going through my blog and I have never blogged a card made with this set, but I'm sure I have made one or perhaps I've only cut the images. The patterned paper is from Dollarama bought probably 5 years ago, the 12 X 12 pad was all B&W. The car and sentiment were cut twice from black heavy cardstock and once in gold posterboard and glued together for dimension. The card is a 5 1/2 inch square card. I thought it looked a little blah so I added as thin gold frame.

Close up angled picture to show how the image is elevated.

Finally I finished the inside with a "old" sentiment and a few scraps of the paper.

I am entering this in:

AAA Birthday ~~ Game #34 Pattern.
