It's finally spring in SWO, April showers and new growth budding all over. Crocuses have bloomed, the wild violets in the lawn are flowering and at Shopping Our Stash the challenge for the next fortnight is Plant Life ~~ all thing Leafy. I found a really great leafy piece of patterned paper in my stash, it was a bundle stamps, dies and a paper pack from the SAB 2009, I've pretty much gone through the leafy/floral sheets and have used the dies but never inked the stamp set, just looking at the stamps it's a shame I haven't inked them. I thought I could add to my birthday card stash with making a slim-line eclipse card.
I often wonder why I bought the bundle as none of the colours in the papers are my go to colours, but I do like going out of my comfort zone occasionally and this was one of those times. I used my 2 inch Alpha dies to cut HAPPY, I find these cards are easier to make than they look, With the patterned paper you don't need a lot of embellishments. Leaves and flowers from the same set and some enamel dots from Dollar Tree.
A side view of the happy, I did cut a birthday sentiment to put on the lower right. The flower and leaf is on the lower left corner.
Finished the inside with a layer of patterned paper that was a failed die cutting but it's still use-able and I have the alphas to use on something else. I had cut three sets of flowers and leaves but of couse the fro

Hello Barbara: I just love, love your card, this design is one I've always wanted to try but I don't have big alphabet letters dies, I have a set of small ones but I don't think they would work, the little letters will get lost on the DSP.
ReplyDeleteI have the dies for the bundle you mentioned, I didn't get the stamps or the paper, I love the dies, they are one of my favorites.
Awesome card, teammie.
Stay healthy and safe.

Ooh, this is so pretty, Barbara! I love that paper you used, and the eclipse technique goes so well with it!
ReplyDeleteoh wow, missus this is unbe-LEAF-able!!! (sorry i couldn't resist lol!) i love that paper and as always you make me ashamed that i seldom adorn the INSIDE of my cards bc looooooook how cool that is!!! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteBarbara, You have really inspired me with this card. I need to remember that I have beautiful DSP that I just had to have that would make a card as wonderful as this one. I do not always have to focus on stamping or coloring each and every time! This is truly fabulous! Thanks for the quick reminder and for joining us at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteLove this card! The paper is gorgeous, and the eclipse technique is a perfect way to show it off. Love the little additions of the flower, leafy branch and secondary sentiment. The inside is beautiful, too! Thanks for linking this up at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI am still fascinated and mystified at how you do those letters like that!
