Before I tell you about the card I must mention we are at the lake for the week and going to close it up for the winter and I hadn't had a chance to work on my card so when we got the cottage warmed up I got all my equipment out and OMgoodness (not what I was thinking) I forgot my C plate for the cuttlebug, that's the CUTTING plate and I had Hexagons to cut. Well trial and error and many shims I managed the cutting of the shapes but was very happy to find those gold snowflakes in my "extras"
The image is a long retired set from Stampin'up but one of my favourites every Christmas. The patterned paper is ancient I think it is SU as well.
Close up of the gold snowflakes, these were cut last year and not used. The rhinestones are also years old and I coloured them with an alcohol marker.
I added some wink of stella to hat, mitts, earmuffs and white trim.
Since I know odd shaped cards do not stand up well I will send a easel with it, it is a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs and cuts out of a half of 8 1/2 X 11 piece of heavier cardstock.

I thought that you just fussy cut the hexagons, but you McGyvered a cutting plate! Go you! This card is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat must have taken a lot of shims to get your hexagons to cut - well done! Such a sweet card, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are a rock star getting this done without your cutting plates!
ReplyDeleteAnd that easel die!! What a freaking good idea THAT is for all those cards we make that don't stand up properly....hmmmmm I may need to get me one of those!!
Yes! Where there's a will, there's a way! So, what did you end up using??? Anyway, very sweet card. Those little snowflakes with the colored rhinestone (great idea-- i wouldn't have thought to do that!) are a perfect little accent. Ooh, love that easel, too!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW, this is gorgeous! Love the hexagon shape! Can't believe you achieved this without your C plate - you are a genius! Love the adorable image and those gold snowflakes! Beautifl stand for the card too, very nice!
