First I cut two tags with the Tim Holtz tag die and unwrapped the dylusions sprays I bought around the end of the year, I have turquoise and purple two of my favourite colours. I then spritzed the tag with water then the dylusions sprays, mopped up the over spray with the tag then gave it a shot of simmer spray. With that said...her is my tag.
Once the tag dried I dug a few odd stamps out, french script, the art of life and Take time and sort of stamped not so randomly. I have only used stencils once so I dug out the message wreath from Hero Arts and pondered, what if I mess this part up I will have to start over, but I manage to use the dauber and purple distress ink and was pleased with the outcome. To finish it off I added some metal dots and a butterfly.

I love this stamp from Stampabilities.
I am sure this won't be the last time I attempt Mixed Media, I have a small canvas I would like to try something on but that means more surfing and stressing, but I hope a lot of fun.
Thanks for stopping by today and check out the SoSS Blog and see what awesome project the rest of the design team have done.
Well done on your first Mixed Media! It's beautiful! Those are some of my favourite colours too! I have not tried Mixed Media yet but you make it look doable.
ReplyDeleteYou have a Tim Holtz tag die???? Why don't I have a Tim Holtz tag die????
ReplyDeleteYour tag is perfect Barb, it's gorgeous and messy and PURPLE all of my favourite things!!
I can't believe that you've never attempted mixed media before, because your tag is STUNNING!! LOVE the turquoise and purple colors, the stamps, and that butterfly is the perfect finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteSeriously Barb, with results like this, you need to make more mixed media projects! Absolutely gorgeous. (And thanks for including me in the mixed media capable... not really! LOL)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tag! You did well for not knowing where to go for mixed media. You surfed well and created even better!
ReplyDeleteBarb, I think you're a natural! You know the secret to mixed media: you cut 2 tags, but I only see one. Your tag is beautiful, great colors and images. This style looks good on you
