What's Your Favourite Season? That's Challenge #318 at Shopping Our Stash!!!

Shopping Our Stash challenge #318 What's your favourite season?  Now I like all seasons but I picked Spring because the first flowers of the year are PURPLE, crocus and lilacs which I love.  For my card I use an image I had in my stash, already coloured and cut with an oval, and even though I love to hoard blingy things I used some on my card.

It was getting a bit late in the day to be photographing so you will see shadows. I used some Eyelet Outlet narrow glitter washi tape, and some clear blingy sworls also from the eyelet outlet. And I used my favourite colour of cardstock which was already cut in my "file"

Although I had finished the front of the card last weekend I left the inside for when we came back to the cottage and after getting the sentiment all lined up and stamped I realized I had used a Holiday sentiment, so back to the scrap file and layered the Birthday sentiment on another layer of purple.  I think my mind was on the Jingle Belles Rock challenge I want to enter before Wednesday.

Well there you have it another episode of what can go wrong today!!

I would like to enter this in:

Thanks for stopping by today and  let`s see what season is your favourite, don`t forget to head over to the Main challenge blog, check the rules and see what seasons the rest of the design team love.

Another Very Vintage Christmas for the Jingle Belles

In my stash of pre-used Christmas cards I saw this beautiful image of three birds and knew I really wanted to recycle it into a "new" card, I started with a 5 1/4 X 5 1/4 square base layered it with blue and a snowflake patterned paper. I cut the image with an EC stitched circle  I cut two large intertwined circles (also EC designs) glued one down and added the image then attached the second intertwined clrcle on top.

Who doesn't love chickadees? I love when they come to the feeder in the winter.
I added some red glitter enamel dots (Eyelet outlet) on the circle.

closer look at the enamel dot and how I trimmed the bird's tail to go outside the circle.

Finished inside.

Very Vintage Christmas.......

Still ahead of the game this week, the Jingle Belles Rock challenge doesn't end until Wednesday!!! I do have a few, hmm maybe quite a few vintage "old" stamps but I saw this pre-used card in my stash and thought I can recycle this into a lovely card, it's such a shame these beautiful store bought cards go to waste.

I cut the image with EC stitched circles and I cut the sentiment with a rectangle when I looked at it I though wow a snow globe!!  The background is falling softly Stampin'up embossing folder and I elevated the snow globe with some foam.

This is a close up of the image, check out the sparkle.

I haven't finished the inside yet as the sentiment I want to use is at home.

Wood is Good.......

Shopping Our Stash challenge #317....Wood is Good ~~ use wood or woodgrain on your project. Seems a rather easy peasy challenge this time. I have a wood panel background stamp that hasn't seen ink in a while so I was happy to get it inked up. The challenge is timely since I'm really low on cards for men.

I inked the background stamp with versafine sepia and stamped it on crumb cake layered it on some ancient shiny paper then on an Espresso base.  My bluenose stamp is one of my very first stamps and is a PSX dated 1999. I love making the rickrack looking frame for this stamp. There are pictures below how it is done.  I have taken a hint from Jennifer Maguire  to use fun foam on the back of my images I want to raise it makes them much more stable to mail. Check out Saturday's post for pictures.

This shows the elevation you can get with using fun foam to elevate the image. You can see the picture tutorial HERE. on Saturday's blog post.

I finished the inside to match the front and used a favourite Penny Black sentiment.

Here is the picture of how the frame was made.

I use a spellbinders scalloped circle and a spellbinders inverted scallop circle for the frame. I then turn it over and dry emboss the frame with a rubber mat and the plates.

Thanks for visiting today and we would love to see your wood themed project. Remember to check out the "wood" projects the rest of the design team have made.

Something old, Something new, Something Borrowed and Something Blue!!

Have you guessed the challenge #91 at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is.....W is for Wedding and we want to see  something old, new, borrowed and something blue on your project.  I went with my favourite married couple...Stella and Gus and their views on marriage a bit snarky too.

As you see my colour choice is blue and the patterned paper is OLD, the postage stamp die is the new part and (stretching it a bit) the borrowed is the current Stella says Sketch #513.
The sentiment is also from Bugaboo stamps, I borrowed it from the other Stella & Gus marriage digi.

Close up of the two love birds.

Finished the inside with the sentiment that came with the front image of Stella and gus.  You have to love their snarky humour.

Now a picture tutorial on how I use the fun foam instead of pop dots, it makes the image more stable for mailing and doesn't add much weight.  I found this out from one of  Jennifer McGuire's  videos.
First I cut the shape I need just a bit smaller than the image.
then I glue or tape it to the image and glue and tape to the card base.  Just a word of caution don't buy the fun foam at the $$ store in a package it is too thin buy the 2mm singles, I did get some at Len's Mills today.

Still being Peaceful at the Jingle Belles Rock.

Since I had some time this past weekend I made another peaceful scene for the Jingle Belles Rock challenge.  I did have a much more elaborate card planned but when it came to do it the fussy cutting was way too involved.

I left the scene Black and White but sparkled it up with some wink of stella. The birds are fussy cut and popped up, all the colouring was done with atyou Spica glitter pens.

Closer look at the birds.

Classic Christmas sentiment.

Challenges I would like to enter:

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Peace on Earth

ABC Christmas challenge ~~ R is for Red

12 Months of Christmas Link up ~~ Traditional colours (optional)

Just Chillin' and Relaxin" at Shopping Our Stash

It's August and time to do some Chillin' and Relaxin' at Shopping Our Stash, August 15 is National Relaxation Day!! and we are celebrating with project showing what is relaxing to you.  I find colouring is very relaxing for me and I often have images coloured ahead and of course when I'm at the cottage I totally relax and take walks along the beach. So for this challenge I have a beach scene.

I used an image from House Mouse Designs and now seeing it a picture I should have used a lighter brown for the sand, you can hardly see the three super cute mice.

By the time I finished my card the shadows were getting long and I had trouble with taking the picture, while I was taking it a super adorable golden lab was trotting over to see what I was doing but his owner called him back and he obeyed.

Thanks for visiting today and don't forget to head over to the Main Blog and check out what is relaxing to the rest of the Design Team.

There is Peace at the Jingle Belles Rock challenge.

Only a couple of days left to enter the challenge at the Jingle Belles Rock, it seems I can't get the time to make a card the first week, since I do most of my crafting the week we are at the lake and the challenge starts on our short week there. Not that I'm complaining as we get to spend a lot of time at our cottage.

I chose to go with a "peaceful scene" as my word PEACE was too large for the card.  I also used clear wink of stella on the white parts of the card.

Finished inside with a favourite sentiment (and the only one at the lake)

Spice up your Life...............

At Shopping Our Stash this week Challenge #315 is Spice up your Life!!!  No we don't want you to use spices we want a project inspired by one of the Spice Girls ~~ Baby Spice (could be a baby card or something cute) Ginger Spice (could orange or food inspired) Sporty Spice ((sports theme or colour of your favourite team) Posh Spice (something elegant maybe?) or Scary Spice (skulls, bats, Halloween)  Now those are some really helpful hints.  You can also get some great ideas from the Design Team projects at the main blog.

I went with Ginger Spice just because I had this super cute Kraftin' Kimmie stamp which had Big Ben in it so I thought since the Spice Girls were a British group it worked well for the challenge. It also worked well for the Saturday Sketch challenge. The colouring was done with copics and spica glitter pens for the hat and dress just to make her sparkle.

Close up to show the sparkle.

Finished inside and in hindsight I think the orange ink would have been better.

Stash I used: NBUS stamp, NBUS SU die, Lace stick on ribbon

Challenges I would like to enter:

Thanks for checking my blog today and I'm looking forward to see which Spice Girl you choose.

M is for Mink......

M is for Mink is the challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky stampers  which translates to Furry Critters!!! We want to see project with animals that have FUR.  I am sure you thought I would use a house mouse but surprise I didn't!!! (it was a thought) But since I acquired Stampers Anonymous Hipsters I just had to use one of them.

I'm so happy to be able to take pictures at the lake they look much more interesting than a plain background. I had to go to the break wall as the sun wasn't in the right place to take it on the deck.
Not much to say about the card except I darkened the glasses and put wink of stella on his eyes.

As you see I used an Avery label maker for the sentiment, I bought it Saturday at a yardsale here is what came with it.

three sizes, 1/4" 1/2" and 3/8" along with lots of label cartridges. Now all I have to figure out is how to change from one to another. It came with the box all for $1.00.....SCORE!!!

Count Down to Christmas......

Challenge #314 at Shopping Our Stash is Count Down to Christmas!!!  Let's get a jump start on the Holiday season. Since I'm shopping my stash I uses a very "antique" stamp it's a PSX/Santa Rosa dated 1999 and one of my oldest and favourite "St. Nicholas" stamp.

I'm not sure why but the green copic didn't work well on the greenery it just seemed to sit on top of the cardstock and I used the same as I always use.

Finished inside

Other than the two older stamps I used all scraps from the scrap folder for my card.

I'm entering this in:
