It's a Sticky - Sweet Situation

The challenge at the Jingle Belles Rock is to use Stickers, even though I have stickers I rarely use them, I guess I really don't know how to treat something I haven't coloured or punched or die cut myself. I have had House Mouse stickers in my stash for several years, I won them as a prize at the Butterfly Moon Christmas open house. My plan was to use Tuesday morning sketch but it ended before I could work on my card. And I opened one of my hoarded packages of Eyelet Outlet candy cane brads, if you are near Delhi Ontario they can be purchased at Uniquely Yours.

Lots of candy canes, the patterned paper is from a pack I bought at Winners 2 or more years ago but the washi tape I bought last December also at Winners. Of course the EO brad is also from my stash.

Isn't that the cutest candy cane brad?

Finished the inside with a strip of washi tape and my favourite holiday sentiment.

Shopping Our Stash #288 ~~ Days of Yore

Wow the last day of January, where oh where did the month go?It's another week, another challenge and ~~ Shopping Our Stash #288 Days of Yore, ~~ in other words....Shabby Chic, flowers, lace and distressing, alright this is a stretch for me, not my favourite technique, I am not fond of distressing, I am not a shabby chic kind of gal but for 5 or more days I worked and worked on this challenge, I'm not sure which of our members decided on the challenge it might have been Chana or it could be Chris or Alica one of them didn't ask me if I was okay with it lol. Now as much bitching as I've been doing I got carried away with pictures because I was so happy with it.  Here it is for your inspiration.

I am trying some new ways of photographing my cards so I laid this flat on some dsp and took the picture. The stamp I used is Stippled Rose from Stampin'up, one of my first stamps I bought from them and love it. The diecut border is a spellbinders border die I have had for several but never used. the patterned paper is ancient bought before I knew what to do with it, but it was a good price. The flowers are from a 50 cent bin at Len's Mills also a couple of years old.

I took the petals off the stems and re-assembled them.

Hat pin I bought 4 or 5 years ago and beads from my jewelry making box

A different angle picture, I spritzed the whole card with clear shimmer mist, hope you can see it.

And finally......

finished the inside with an odd scrap of patterned paper and a scrap of pink.

Funny thing today when I finished my card I showed it to my biggest fan, my hubby and he said "are you going to give that one away?"

Finally the end of my post, glad you hung in there and I hope you like my "shabby chic" card.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #287 ~~ All that Glitters is Gold!!!

Chana is testing us again!!! Shopping Our Stash #286 All that Glitters is Gold so we want to see gold on your card!!! I really wanted to make something other than a Christmas/holiday but I just couldn't get my head to accept it but went with a "winter" card. Our snow is mostly gone and we have had days of heavy fog that has lasted all day, not conducive to driving far. (then I get to craft)  Here is my glittery card.

Ok this is a stash bustin' card, the only cut piece was the base. The background behind the sleigh (first time using it) is a failed northern lights technique, The frame is a die I bought ages ago and never used (I saw an ornament and had to have the die, you know the routine) the gold was a fairly large scrap on my table although it really doesn't look gold in the picture but I promise you it is.

You can see the northern lights and the lovely as a tree that was embossed with some black sparkle embossing powder, I dotted it with some stickles.

I dug out my rarely used Egyptian gold embossing powder for the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today and I would love to see your project on the SOS blog and give me some ideas for non holiday gold cards lol.

"Y" did I Buy That? asks the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers

Wow what a challenge, I have so many items that I ask that question of, I know at the time I did have a reason and what it boils down to is too many things too little time. Anyway the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers want you to dig you stash and find an item, stamp, embossing folder, a die that you just had to have or a medium that you had to have and never used and enter the challenge.

Here is the first item, I bought this set probably 10 years ago, I thought it was perfect for those quick cards you might need in a hurry, sad I didn't even remember it was a stamp AND an embossing folder. I stamped and embossed and coloured with my copics added some stickles  and voila' done.
Here is the set

Hero Arts cling stamp and a Sizzix Embossing folder.

Finished the inside for a Get Well card.

Since I was on a roll I decided to dig out my Gelatos that I needed and bribed hubby to take me to Michaels Art Store to purchase I bought the metallics since they were the only package that contained purple. I have had them probably a year with out even opening the package. I also bought Gesso and all the other stuff you need to do mixed media and it all still sits.

I did the Emboss resist on neenah cardstock The flourish is a TH sizzix die the background stamp is a Woodmount stamp from Stampin;up (retired) Butterflies are also from SU stamped, embossed and fussy cut and elevated on the flourish.

I love this and will use my gelatos more often.

Finished inside but I forgot to take a picture before I signed it, guess that is better than getting it the mail and remembering I hadn't taken any pictures.

Congratulations you have reached the end of a long picture laden post, I hope you are not too bored or napping.

Thanks for looking today and come and join the fun at The Sisterhood.

Shopping Our Stash #286 ~~ Fantastic Beasts

Unicorns, Fairies, Dragons, Aliens and much much more to be found at Challenge 286 at Shopping Our Stash!!! What a great challenge theme Alica decided for us this week!!! it sure pushed me to be searching for something I have never used before, I have a lot of angels from Sweet Pea but there were none I haven't used at least once so next a search for a dragon well I have a couple of those...yup used them before several times so pinterest here I come and found one in my digi images that I have never used but of course I do not know who's it is there was no name on it.  Here is what I ended up making.

Guess you know by now my favourite colour is Purple and I decided this beauty had to be purple. I used the current sketch from Sketch Saturday I also used three dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs
and an adorable dragon brad from Eyelet Outlet & brads which I purchase from Uniquely Yours   Craft and Photo. I also used some washi tape from the dollar store to go along with the sketch.

I used wink of stella on his/her spikes.

Couldn't resist a close up of the super cute brad from the Eyelet Outlet.+

Finished the inside with a scrap of patterned paper and a left over die cut I just couldn't throw out those little dots that were out of the die cut so added them for some interest.

Challenge #285 at Shopping Our Stash ~~ Stickle me Elmo!!!

Wow we are in the second week of January already, the world needs to slow down so I can catch up.  I have had a struggle to get in the crafting mode after Christmas the challenges really help with that.   Oh yes now for  the challenge at Shopping Our Stash ~~ Stickle me Elmo, we want you to use stickles or a similar product on your card or project. Here is my offering.

I used another super cute digi I had from Mel Jens digital store which unfortunately is no longer in business. I used traditional holiday colours and lots of stickles. layers were cut with the Elizabeth Craft Designs postage stamp rectangles.

Close up to show the stickles. I used this image as it could be well stickled and it fit the challenge for the Jingle Belles Rock.

Inside of the card

The stash I used.....patterned paper, green layer front and inside, digi a couple of years old.

I want to enter this in:

Happy New Year!!! Welcome to the First Challenge of 2017!!!

Challenge #284 at Shopping Our Stash is Shape up!!! Use any shape except circle, square or rectangle, it was a bit confusing for me but I made a shaped card. I have been really busy as we were out for New Year's Eve then out again for Brunch on New Years Day so time to make something was getting really slim then I thought a TeePee card I had the perfect image for it already printed and the search was on, but it wasn't until the next day I found it. Since I have been making Christmas cards for the whole of 2016 I still have lots of scraps and that is what I used from my scrap file box.

You can find lots of tutorials on making one of these cards and are quite simple as long as you pay attention to how to tape or glue it together. The "Big Present" is a digital image from Mel-Jens unfortunately they are no longer in business.  I fussy cut it out and popped it up. The card will lie flat for mailing when you untie the ribbon.

Now comes the part about paying attention to gluing, this patterned paper was supposed to be on the front but once it was down there was no getting it off so decided the stripes would look good too.

I put some spica sparkle gel pen over the bow but doesn't show in the picture.

Challenges I would like to enter:
Starting out 2017 with the first Jingle Belles Rock challenge.~~ No time like the Presents

Thanks for visiting this first blog post of the new year. Wishing you a happy, healthy, prosperous 2017.
