Penny Black challenge and a new “Funky Fold’

My friend Lynn B. put the instructions to making a funky fold card seen on her blog, . I wanted to try one so  I was checking out some challenge blogs and I found this one here at Penny Black Saturday challenge.blog. Just a couple of simple rules use one Penny Black stamp or sticker and some STARS.
Well this fold was an adventure, first I couldn’t find my cutting mat….it’s probably home but I figured out how to use the score-pal to measure and cut the base. Of course being at the cottage I only bring what tools I need to do the projects I have planned so my star punch was at home,  I dug through my DCW stack pads and found some dp with stars on it, the colours didn’t match what I was doing so I cut out 6 large and two small and popped them up on the cute Sunshine Hedge where the flowers would have been.

Rosettes and more rosettes...Challenge #29 at Crop Stop

It is a bit cooler here at our  cottage at Turkey Point on Lake Erie of course I have the fan going  already which makes it bearable but while making the card the wind from the fan blew it under the sofa bed. I  got a bit of exercise getting it out.
I was checking out the Crop Stop Blog for the new challenge and was very excited I knew how to make a rosette without a die. I am very fond of black and white and could see how nice the rosette would look in some great b&w dp. The floral background is an embossing folder from Stampin’up, I think it is a very versatile folder great for an occasion . I found the cute flower button in my button jar. I used my black atyou spica glitter pen on the centers of the flowers, the butterflies were punched out of vellum. TFL.

In the middle of a heat wave I managed a challenge.

My kind of challenge…..Anything Goes. I found it at Clear it out Tuesday. I used my favourite group of stamps,  the cutest little rodents……..House Mouse  A couple of weeks ago my friend Lynn B. and her family came to the cottage for the afternoon so I just had to take her to meet Natalie at The Butterfly Mon and of course we both had to purchase a cute stamp, since another favourite thing of mine is Poppies there was no contest Amanda in the poppy cot  was mine.
                    
I coloured the image  with pencil crayons and oms the card stock is real red the sentiment  is layered on one of the Fancy Label dies from spellbinder. The background is Georgia Pacific white embossed with the Polka Dot folder from Provo craft.

Some more Dolly Mamas

Still here at our cottage, dial up isn’t fun but I do get some crafting done. It’s way too hot to go outside so I like to sit in front of the fan and colour. I had these images coloured so I just had to put them together which was a feat in itself. I had a bit of trouble getting the border punch to work, well it isn’t the fault of the punch it happens to be the operator. I do like the end result.
                    
Done with one of my favourite colours……lime green, it looks so great bordered with black. The image was coloured with pencil crayons and oms. Her sign says “Go Braless it pulls the wrinkles out of your face”
                  
I have posted this image before as I have used it for a couple of Birthday cards. The sign says “Put your big girl panties on and deal with it”. It’s a great one for a “good” friend that is having a milestone birthday.

Crop Stop Challenge #28 “get wet”

The challenge at crop stop found here sounded very interesting, it is to use a wet medium on your card, layout or altered item. There were so many choices of mediums to use but since I have a nice selection of Twinkling H2os it was my chance to get them out and get them wet.
I used a stamp set from Stampin’ up called Fabulous Florets,  I stamped with versafne black and embossed with clear embossing powder, painted  them  with my H2os and cut them out. The leaves in the background were cut with a Creatables die from Marianne Designs I purchased from Stamp Art in London Ontario.

Crop Stop Sketch Challenge

I loved the sketch I found here at Crop Stop challenge blog, I am a little behind as the challenge started July 7th, I finally got it done today. The basic sketch is a  keeper.
I used one of my “funky flowers” from The Stamp Barn, coloured with pencil crayons and oms. The cardstock is a retired colour from Stampin’up, it is one of my favourite colours. I layered it with black and the dsp is from the dollar store, it is so nice as it already has glitter on it. I punched the butterflies out and coloured with tombow markers.

Wing it Out

My good friend Lynn Black has just been brought on to be a DT of Clear it out Tuesday and her first assignment was July 6, 2011. Congratulations Lynn btw your card is awesome and can be found here on her blog.
I was so impressed with Lynn’s card I just had to have a look at Clear it out Tuesday’s blog myself. It was a fun challenge to use anything with wings on a card, wow lots of choices. I used the flower from Echoes of Kindness ser from Stampin’up and the butterfly from God’s Beauty it was a hostess set from Stampin’up a couple of years ago. I stamped the butterfly on acetate and  coloured it with sharpies. Since I am crafting in two places I didn’t bring home my stazon ink which would have worked better on the acetate. I also left all three pair of scissors there as well so cutting it out with some kitchen scissors was a feat. I used markers on the image then coloured it with pencil crayons and glittered it up. The embossing folder I used for the bottom layer is Polka dots by Provo craft.

Dolly Mama…..Burning the Candle.

Happy Independence Day to any of my American friends that might read my blog. I didn’t have an opportunity to make a card for today.
Here is a birthday card made with one of my Dolly Mamas, you can see all the stamps they have by clicking here.
I coloured with pencil crayons and oms. The card stock is Gable Green which is a retired colour from Stampin’up. The dp is from a DCW stack I purchased at Winners. The sign says “I used to burn the candle at both ends but now I can’t find the matches” TFL.

Happy Canada Day!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather on this holiday weekend. What a perfect week for Challenge #26, Show your National Colours found here at Crop Stop. July 1st is Canada Day and it was fun to make a card with our flag and favourite critters on it. The stamp  is from High Hopes Rubber stamps. The image was coloured with pencil crayons and oms, the cardstock is Georgia Pacific white and Real Red from Stampin’up.
