Shopping Our Stash challenge #254 ~~ the 4 Elements

Happy Tuesay and guess you know what that is ~~ time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash!!!  and it's 4 Elements ~~ Earth, Water, Fire and Wind....now you don't have to do all 4 on a card that would be a real challenge but pick one and run with it!!! But do tell us which element you used.

I tossed around a few ideas but didn't do any searching on the technique I wanted so of course didn't have the proper equipment with me so I went with the basic stamp and colour and I guess you would say I went with Earth and Water.

The stamp I used is Autumn Brook from Stampscapes I stamped with memento tuxedo black and coloured with copics, I layered it on some wood grained paper out of a Christmas pack I added some die cut trees and a deer. As you can see in keeping with the theme I took my card to the break wall at Turkey Point to take the pictures.

Close up of the deer.

Choices for a sentiment were very slim picking at the cottage but I like this one.

Thanks for visiting today, please go to the main blog  for the rules and while you are there check out the samples the other DTs have made. The link will be open until 11:55 PM EST on Monday, June 6th. Just a reminder, please no more than 13 combined challenges, including ours.. I hope you will pick and element and make a project for the challenge.

Still Banishing the Holiday Blues at Jingle Belles Rock

Lauren and Stephanie are still keeping the holiday blues at bay.....they want you to make a holiday card without BLUE.  I coloured the image up and layered it on a tag I had cut for a previous project and never used it. The base and patterned paper had been picked but we had to come home from the cottage early this (Monday) morning so while putting in time I checked out the Monday challenges and Mojo Monday had the perfect sketch for my card, don't you love when things come together without even trying .  So here is my finished card.

I took a few liberties with the sketch as I made an A2 card (not a tall skinny one) I flipped the sketch but you can see the sketch. I used my cute house mouse cling stamp, it's a bit smaller than the wood mount stamp with the stockings, the red holiday ribbon is out of my stash and the white ribbon is left over from Saturday's project.

Finished inside with a scrap of patterned paper and a holiday sentiment.

Thanks for stopping in today, one more Holiday card done!!!

N is for Not A Card ~~ at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!!

It must be Saturday!! and a NEW challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers ~~ N is for Not a Card. and Happy Memorial Day to my friends and family in the U.S A, enjoy your weekend

If you checked my blog last Tuesday I had two projects for anything but a card, now I said I don't do a project often but three in the same week? Wow!! I had fun searching for something different to do but I saw a tutorial and video on a Wine Bottle Sleeve at Stamp & Scrap with Frenchie.  I used a 12 X 12 sheet of dsp from Stampin;up that is probably 6 or more years old, and the tag was made with scraps left over from another project.

This was extremely easy to do and would make a great host/hostess gift, wedding/anniversary or even a birthday gift. (I used to give a bottle of wine to a friend's 90+ year old Mom every birthday)

reverse side of the holder, if the patterned paper has a pattern it's best to cut all panels and number then so they are glued in sequence.

Again a rather large scrap of ribbon of undetermined age and the sentiment is from this years Sale-a-bration free stamp, I can see this one used a lot.

Thanks for stopping by today and get your thinking caps on or your fingers searching for a project for N is for Not a Card at the Sisterhood.

Shopping Our Stash #253 ~~ Square roots AKA Anything but a Card!!!

A new week a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash, Anything But A Card, now I don't make very many "projects" the odd candy holder but this challenge gave me an opportunity to make something I have wanted to try for a while, a business card holder. It's Victoria Day weekend here in Canada and we are enjoying the sunshine although inside the cottage is quite cool.  So without a lot of embellishments on hand here is my offering for the challenge.

As you see I just grabbed the business cards from my purse as I don't have any printed yet, The one showing is from the spa I get my pedicure done.

Here is the second project I did for the challenge...............................

I am sure glad I brought the Botanical Builder framelits from Stampin'up with me this weekend or I would have had nothing to embellish my projects with, no ribbon, no rhinestones, no pearls and no stickles....I'm thinking I should be packing a bit better. The one rhinestone I used on the mug was on the table, not even sure where it came from but the tiny ones I had to buy at the $$ store. And so starts a summer of crafting at the lake,

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can find some time to make a project for the challenge at Shopping Our Stash.

Banish the Holiday Blues ~~ with the Jingle Belles Rock!!

Friday brought a new holiday challenge at the Jingle Belles Rock which is to banish the holiday blues, that means NO BLUE is to be used. I'm sure it's my fault for making so many "blue" holiday cards the last few weeks. When I saw the challenge I knew what I was going to use, a couple of NBUS dies, one I had for a couple of years. When I packed for the cottage for the long weekend I threw in every die I thought I would use, I had 5 projects and believe it or not I had almost everything I needed except ribbon, corner rounder and some rhinestones or pearls.  So without further chat here is my NON BLUE card.

As you see the shadows are long on the deck of the cottage but the scenery is so much nicer to take a picture on the railing. The die I used is Vertical Birch Trees Card Panel from Frantic Stamper that I bought at Scrapfest Kitchener, the birds are from an Impression Obsession birch tree with birds die and the deer are also from IO as well.

Of course why would I only cut one set of birds or one set of deer I like having ufos in my stash but of course I used most of what I cut on the card. I love crumb cake and riding hood red together.

I`m entering this in the Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Banish the Holiday Blues.

Thanks for stopping by today, come back and visit anytime.

Whew!!! I made it............in time for the Jingle Belles challenge

I wasn't sure if I had time to get a card done for the Shake Rattle and  Roll challenge (make an interactive card) at the Jingle Belles Christmas challenge blog but I did!!! I purchased a new Elizabeth Craft Designs die on Monday at the Butterfly Moon, we made a card with it at class and I knew it would be perfect for the challenge, so picked my colours and of course something Christmas and got it done, it's so much easier to make another card when the first one is fresh in your mind.

The dark blue is Hero Arts, patterned paper is BoBunny and the light cardstock is bashful blue (SU)
And now for the interactive part pull the light blue tab (will make an arrow) at the top of the frame.

The frame pops up and reveals a sentiment.
This card is an A2 but doesn't open, I will probably decorate the bottom with a sentiment and a space for signing.

Shopping Our Stash #252 ~~ Sounds of the Sea

Welcome to a new weekly challenge at Shopping Our Stash, Sounds of the Sea ~~ we want you to make and ocean/seashore/beach/fishy scene.  I decided I would like to "kill" two birds with one stone and make a retirement card for one of the AM morning hosts that is retiring to PEI, Jeff Hucheson you can read about him HERE.

The image is the lighthouse in Nova Scotia and one of a set of 4 lighthouses retired from Stampin'up. I used a lot stash on this card, the last piece of that very old patterned paper (SU) a scrap of silver paper, even the sentiment was printed on a scrap, nothing like conserving paper.

Close up of the image.

Inside sentiment was computer generated.

Thanks for dropping by today and get your thinking caps on and show us your Ocean/seaside, fishy, beach scene.

A Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On.........

I'm really late this week with my Christmas card for my holiday stash, I still have one or two more to keep up with what I planned. The Jingle Belles have a challenge that is really fun, I had so many plans but only one emerged so far, so I went the easy way and made a shaker card since the challenge is Shake, Rattle and Roll which is to make an interactive card. Along the way to this challenge I saw a new to me challenge blog, ABC Christmas Challenge and this week it is J is for Jewels so I added a few. So here is my shaker card.

Cute snowman stamp is from Inkadinkadoo, paper from Bo Bunny and the shaker card pouch (I sort of cheated) is from Impression Obsession, I have had them for a long, long time and it's the first one I have used out of the package, 9 more to go.

Close up of the image, the beads are from the dollar store.

Finished the inside with a scrap of patterned paper and a sentiment from Stampabilities.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stamper's feature Alpha is F is for Fugly

Another two weeks has flown by and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers has a new challenge F is for Fugly (you can imagine what that really means) Use some that really weird paper, a stamp set that you wonder why you bought it, maybe washi tape that is ugly, hmm I had some of that too.  I picked out a lime green and brown patterned paper thought it was really ugly it has shiny gingerbread people on it some of them wearing santa hats but I'm sorry to say once finished didn't look as fugly as I thought, but I will let you be the judge.

The image is from Bugaboo Stamps and is adorable

Close up of the paper showing how shiny the gingerbread men are.

Well my post almost didn't happen, I just got a new phone and wanted to link it to the WiFi in the house but ever since Windows 10 arrived on my computer the virus protection said my password was weak so I decided to try to change it, I then got the grandson over and he worked on it but I ended up with a new password but no internet connection. I am with a local carrier Execulink.com  and the technician spent an hour with me and we corrected the problem and helped me set up my phone on wifi too. I love supporting local businesses. Well after my sad story and my blog is done I hope you will join us at SoSS for the F is for Fugly challenge.

Shopping Our Stash # 251 ~~ April Showers bring May Flowers!!

Finally Spring has arrived to South Western Ontario, we have had the rain and the daffodils and tulips are in full bloom, they look so pretty. Shopping Our Stash is getting into the spring thing with April Showers bring May Flowers lots of choices for this challenge ( umbrellas, rain or flowers or make a baby/wedding shower card) I used my "Flower Bed" stamp from House Mouse Designs, since it is a tulip with Muzzy napping in it.

To me this is the ultimate spring flower, one of the first to appear after the April shower. The background is pre-made smooshed background from a cardstock pad I bought at Walmart. The rhinestone flourish is ancient, I've been using bits and pieces of it and decided to use the last corner.

.

Close up of the super cute mouse and flower and I chose pink because I love pink and I have already made two purple cards today.
Finished inside and will add Happy Birthday to the front, didn't bring one to the cottage this weekend.

Very short post today, I'm in the midst of a back spasm sure hope it gets better soon Thanks for stopping by today and I'm looking forward to your "shower/flower" project.

Shopping Our Stash #250 ~~ Pink UFOs..........

Shopping Our Stash decided to do something  special for Challenge #250, we are always thinking of Leslie and how she made us giggle and of course stressing us out over a challenge, she always came up with doozies, she also didn't care much for pink I remember her saying on my blog once how great my card was even with the pink on it, lol, she was also big on UFOs, un-finished objects. So Leslie this one is for you!!! We want you to use your UFOs, un-finished objects, you know something you planned for a card and it didn't work but please add some pink to your card as well.  I always have lots of UFOs, images coloured that never made it to a card, extra butterflies just in case you mess one up or die cuts that just didn't work.....you know that "stuff". Well use some on your card.

There are a few UFOs on this card, the flowers I have no idea how long I've had these as I made a card last year with the flowers and of course stamped way too many, the house mouse image also was coloured in my image pile so there wasn't much to do but die cut the image and scalloped border and fussy cut the flowers.  The butterfly was cut from a scrap of shiny paper that was left over too. The sentiment was computer generated.

Finished the inside with a sentiment from Impression Obsession

I would like to enter this in:
Fusion Card Challenge  Sweet Orange Blossoms, I used the sketch but flipped it horizontal, I used a hummingbird and flowers I think I covered all bases.

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you have time to join our special challenge #250.

Jingle Belles Christmas Challenge take 2 ~~ here we come a Washi-ing

I try to enter each week of the two week challenge at the Jingle Belle's Christmas challenge, and it's usually close to the end of the challenge. We went to the cottage this weekend, it's the first time this year, it takes me a while to get into the routine of what to take to craft with, we don't have the phone connected yet so I had no internet and I really took minimal with me, I even forgot white cardstock. Well we came home this morning, while unpacking I realized I forgot my phone cord so once it runs out of juice I'm only available when I'm home. Then getting ready to take pictures of the two cards I made while at the cottage I found out I left my camera there. Oh I hope the mind gets better as the summer goes on.  Blackberry Playbook to the rescue, although the pictures are not as clear (imho) I then took the pictures and had to try to remember how to send them via e-mail, that took me a good 15 minutes to figure that one out. It seems I had a comedy of errors and with that said here is my card.

I saw this challenge at CAS(E) this sketch! and thought what a sketch to combine with the washi tape challenge a the Jingle Belles Challenge. The image I uses is one of the first of many snowman stamps I bought. It is a 2000 Jolly Snowman from Stampendous which I stamped, coloured and fussy cut out. The die cut Merry Christmas is from my scrap box. Washi tape from Dollarama.

Close up of the super cute snowman.

Finished the inside with the year 2000 sentiment from Stampendous that goes with Jolly Snowman.
I embossed the scrap of patterned paper that was left over from the front.
