Guess What Time it is!! It's Challenge Time!! Q is for Quilts (paper piecing)

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers has a challenge for you.....Q is for Quilts which means do some paper piecing, if it makes a quilt, awesome. I went with the plain paper piecing, so much fun fussy cutting the image....NOT, but here it is.

Well I had an image all picked out and when it came time to create it was MIA so I went with my second choice. I paper pieced the couch or sofa, The image is from Art Impressions (gotta love the girlfriends) coloured it with copics and added flowers and the sentiment.

Finished the inside with a bit of humour or maybe reality lol.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will have some fun with this challenge, head over to the main blog check out the rules and what the other design team members has done for the challenge.

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #202 ~~ Let it Snow!!!

Well I don't really want it to snow, we are heading to the cottage Saturday for the weekend, it's our first trip and there is "work" to do but I wanted to get this card done before the challenge at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge  closes.

This card was built around a piece of BoBunny paper, as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use my super cute Impression obsession snowman stamp. I added the mounds of snow, the sentiment from Stampabilies and the snowflake from my odds bucket. Stickles was added to the white dots on the paper, it sparkles IRL.

Finished inside with a sentiment from Impression Obsession.

It's Tuesday and Time for a NEW Challenge at Shopping Our Stash ~~ Think Ink!!

Happy Tuesday morning and it's time for challenge #249 at Shopping Our Stash ~~ Think Ink use lots of ink but NO colouring. So I use a water colour technique I've sort of used before but not exactly. First I stamped a Magenta Rose with versamark watermark and embossed it in white, then I using tombow and Stampin'up markers I scribbled them on a small acrylic block just so I had control where the ink went. spritzed it with water and played until I had the look I was happy with.

There isn't a sentiment as I like a few generic cards that can be finished quickly as I have an occasion. This could be used for sympathy, get well or birthday.

Close up of the rose.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will get inky and join us at SOS for "Think Ink"

Jingle Belles Rock ~~ Washi Tape!!!

Friday morning the Jingle Belles Rock posted their new two week challenge Washi Tape go check it out and the inspiration cards. Now as I've said it many many many times I'm washi tape challenged so off to Pinterest to check out washi tape cards just to see what people do with that sticky stuff and I got a few ideas, Here is one......

I stamped the snowflake with versamark and embossed it in pewter.  The washi tape I got at Michael's Art Store with a 50 % off coupon specifically for Recollections washi tape. I added a sentimen and bling, although there is still way too much white space for me.

Finished the inside adding some washi tape with the sentiment.

Purple, Silver and White......

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #201 ends in less than 24 hour, gee I'm sliding in almost last again but the challenge is colours that I love....Purple, silver and white, so pretty.  I had a lot of fun deciding what to use and while looking for some silver paper I found purple papers too, I've had them forever as well, nice to use up stash. Here is my card.

I used the memory box snowflake ornament and I made one silver on purple and reversed the colours for the second, added a silver thread and place them on embossed white cardstock.

Finished inside.

Shopping our Stash #248 ~~ Chip off the old Block!!

Looking for my Clear it Out post scroll down or click HERE.

Shopping Our Stash is giving us one really great challenge this week....chip off the old block which means use chipboard.  Now I have not had a lot of experience with using chipboard so this challenge (as with most) I didn't know where to go with it then I saw a chipboard snowflake, wow there is where I would start. I'll explain more as I show photos.

As you see the snowflakes are am I and the table, the floor and anything else that was in a 3 foot radius. I first taped soowang tape on a piece of cereal box, home made chipboard, then put the turquoise glitter on it of course it isn't glitter ritz so it flaked off ..... a lot so in to the bathroom grabbed my hairspray (never use it for my hair) and sprayed it. Well the "real" chipboard snowflake was a bit more trouble, I versamarked it then used heat and stick then glitter, duh the chip board colour showed through shoulda painted it white.(insert head slap here) so I embossed it in white then did the whole thing all over again. Whew what a job, now I have more glitter all over.  When hubby goes for walks he often (like a crow) picks up shiny things and the center of the snowflake is an odd earring he found. The embossed layer was slated for another project but I didn't use it so SCORE!

Here is a close up of the chipboard snowflake and the recycled  earring.

Finished inside

Now I can go on with my story, the colour I wanted to use was Tempting Turquoise, I went to where I keep my cardstock and that slot was EMPTY, panic then I found one scrap of the colour in my scrap folder and voila enough to do the front and the inside, Not over yet....I find a full package that hadn't made it to the rack.

I really need to enter this in:

Thanks for joining me today and dig out that chipboard and show us what you can do with it.

Jingle Belles rock the Mojo Monday Sketch

Keeping up with my desire not to be scrambling in November I've made another card for Jingle Belles rock challenge blog. Since this is Monday I saw the new Mojo Monday sketch this morning and deamed it perfect for what I had planned.  The current challenge at Jingle Belles is Peace on Earth Day which is to use something recycled or upcycled, I will show you my card first then explain.

I love my Impression Obsession trees and deer dies and really wanted to use my newest die set from Elizabeth Crafts Designs the stitched ovals. Now on to my recycle item......

I had fun picking up some wallpaper and paint samples and this green sample just seemed to be perfect to cut trees. although it looks brown in the picture it is a forest green and very easy to cut so this is my recycle item I used.

Here is a close up and it does show the trees a better green colour

Finished inside

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers has a NEW Challenge and it's all about Embossing Techniques

Challenge #57 at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is Embossing dig out those embossing folders or warm up the heat gun and join us for the fun. I really wanted to try a new technique, one that I have wanted to do for a long time and I did it. Here is the technique I used from Candy stamps. Don't forget to check out the blog to see what the other sisters have chosen for their Embossing Technique.

I embossed the green shimmer sheetz with the Textile folder I taped it to a green base and rubbed black stazon ink over the raised sections, I decided I wanted to practise with the die I bought last year at scrapfest, I bought the butterfly stamp years ago in Ottawa and the stamp shop was sold to
the Frogs Whiskers and it is one of the stamps they continue to carry and have the die to match.

The simmer sheetz are hard to photograph but I thought this angle showed the raised design.

I see I need practise wielding the stamp pad,or perhaps it needs more ink.

Inside of the card using an older pail topper stamp from Stampendous

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will take some time to join in the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. (snark is optional)

Shopping Our Stash #247 "You Used Whaa?!!

You Used Whaa?!! - use an item NOT intended for stamping to stamp with is the new challenge at Shopping Our Stash and the person we are blaming for this awesome challenge is Chris!! What a challenge for me, I had an didn't work, I thought of something else........nope didn't work either, finally instead of thinking BIG I decided ATC, a smaller "canvas" to work on it's not as daunting.  So here is what I finally stamped with.

Crumb cake and black cardstock home made candy dots a bit of twine and In The Wild (retired) Stamp Set is what I used.

Here is a close look at the pattern I made with my non-stamp

I took a pencil with an eraser and because the eraser was dry it wasn't easy to make a pattern in it but it worked to make the giraffe spots on the cardstock, I used versafine sepia to "stamp" with the pencil eraser,

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you can join in the fun challenge to use something you wouldn't normally stamp with.

How do the Jingle Belles Celebrate Earth Day?

The Jingle Belles have an Earth Day challenge every year and want you to recycle something and put it on your project.  I had a plan but the weekend was so busy I didn't get it implemented but I had most of the things organized and got to work this morning. I started out with a Christmas card I received it is gorgeous, at first I thought I would just use part of the card but I couldn't bear to discard the beauty of it. I also found a one inch wide ribbon that was around a chocolate box from Christmas. It was a tad wrinkled when I untied the bow so I took a curling iron and smoothed it out. Here is my recycled card.

This card is so sparkly but doesn't show in the picture, The poinsettia was cut with a small Tim Holtz die and put together with a flower brad.

I cut the image with Labels 4 large die and the Early Expresso layer cut with Labels 4 small die.

Finished inside.

Getting Sentimental with the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #199

I had plans, lots of plans for this challenge but only one card emerged from my plans. while planning this one I found that my two Brilliance ink pads were in dire need of ink lucky me I was heading to The Butterfly Moon in Lyndoch as Natalia will re-ink them for me, it's just a perk of buying from her, we take our own inks to class if we have them. So the card was on hold for a day or two. I changed my mind two or maybe three times on how to assemble here is my card with the sentiment as the focal point.

The sentiment is from Stampabilities stamped with brilliance Mediterranean blue, I stamped the Thomas Kinkade Silent Night image with brilliance ice blue. I love the subtle look.

I carried the subtle theme to the inside and stamped the Hampton Art stamp sentiment across the TK cottage scene.

I'm entering this in:
Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #199 Let's get sentimental.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #246 ~~ April Fools

Looking for my Clear it Out post? scroll down or click HERE.

I love how the design team comes up with really good challenges, at least they seem to challenge me this one is no exception, Shopping Our Stash presents April Fools which means use a FAUX Technique. I decided to try my hand at a new technique and if it failed I would go to an old favourite, Faux Silk. There are a lot of Faux techniques at Splitcoast stampers and you can always google or head to pinterest, make sure you tell us what your technique is to save us brain power trying to figure it out. Well my new faux technique worked out and it is Faux Silk Flowers. I based my card on this tutorial I found at Our Daily Bread I loved her card and I had some of the same dies as she used.

I used Cheery Lynn Designs "fanciful Flourish" and Exotic Butterflies 2 and I even have a Xyron Sticker Maker the embossing folder I  used is Textile from cuttlebug.

Close up of the prima flowers flattened

Finished inside with an old Hero Arts sentiment.

Head over to the main blog at Shopping Our Stash to check out what Faux Techniques the rest of the design team have chosen, then get on your thinking cap and show us what Faux Technique is your favourite.

Guess What Time it is ~~ It's Challenge Time at Clear it Out Tuesday.

Challenge #108 at Clear it Out Tuesday  is (giggle, giggle) SPRINGTIME, well as I look out my window it looks more like Santa Claus is coming to Town. The stash item is FLOWERS.  At least my card looks like springtime and it has flowers on it. My poor daffodils outside are going to be dead for sure, they were pretty close to flower, who knows where this freak storm came from but I have had enough of the winter and I'm calling, pleading and begging for Spring. Okay enough of the weather report and on to the sponsors.....Bugaboo Stamps and  Oddball Art Stamps are the two for this it's double he chance to win. The image I used is from Bugaboo stamps.

I saw the sketch at Saturday Sketch and thought it's perfect for the image I had coloured, and I used some washi tape, I never really know how to use i but the sketch was perfect.

Close up of the super cute birdie and the flowers, I added some tiny pearls to the flowers and glitter to the wings of the bug.

The inside was finished with more washi tape using the base of the sketch.

I'm Back ~~~ With a Holiday Card for the Jingle Belles Rock Challenge!!

I am trying to make two Holiday cards a week, one for each week of the Jingle Belles Rock Christmas Challenge Blog and 1 each week for Merry Monday, last week  I ran late for both. Now last Tuesday I saw the sketch for Tuesday Morning Sketches and I wanted to use it and I have but of course the sketch challenge is over....better luck this week. The challenge is Santa Baby, or any other characters/animals you find at the North Pole so I used my grumpy elf.

The image is from MelJens which is no longer in business, I'm so happy I have this grumpy elf for a couple of friends that take the sentiment seriously.

I wasn't sure how I was going to do the sentiment but I found an alpha sticker set that is ancient, I have no idea how old the stickers are but they still stick.

I was looking for an appropriate sentiment and this one from the Artful Stamper caught my eye I think it works well with the image.

Challenges I would like to promote:

Thanks for visiting today and I now have 23 Holiday cards in my stash.
