Hang in There it’s a Sketch challenge

I really liked the Freshly Made Sketches, you can still play with the sketch until 12.00 pacific time, I really wanted to try it and I needed a card for a friend and I had a cute digi from Meljen’s designs so I got the two of them together and here is what I came up with.
IMG_2464
Isn’t this kitty really adorable? I didn’t even layer the image on anything WOW, I guess you would say this is a CAS card. another WOW. I used a scrap of ribbon and an energy drink tab for the ribbon slider.  I then added the computer generated sentiment to the bottom.
IMG_2465
I have had some tabs for a while, red, green and blue ones just waiting for the perfect time to use one. I think it works perfect.
IMG_2466
The sentiment I have had for a long time and use it for a lot of my sympathy and thinking of you cards.
I am entering this in Sketch 164 at Freshly Made Sketches
Challenge 174 at Hiding in My Craft Room Freestyle
Thanks for visiting my blog today, come back soon you are always welcome.

It’s Saturday and V is for Vintage at SoSS Challenge Blog

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends and followers, and to all my other followers and friends enjoy your weekend.  I hope you have some time to check out the new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, while there have a look at what the other sisters have created. So the challenge is V for Vintage, not one of my favourite ones as I struggle with vintage, it’s in the same area as Distressing but it might take a while but I get it done, here it is…..
IMG_2461
I used a Santa stamp from Rubber Stampede on vanilla cardstock, using the burnished velvet technique I covered it with Be Creative tape and Glitter Ritz clear warm tones. although you cant’ really tell unless you enlarge the image. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and one of my first stamps I bought. I layered it on gold paper from the dollar store (I stocked up on this shiny paper) The background is Cuttlebug embossing folder on a shiny off white paper. (have no clue where I got that from)
IMG_2462
Close up so you can see the glitter and the simmer on the snowflakes.
IMG_2463
Finished inside with a verse from Hero Arts that is embossed in gold.
Thanks for taking some time from your weekend to visit my blog and dig out all your vintage stamps and join in the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers you just might be the Queen of Snark or maybe one of the princesses.

Due to the U.S. Thanksgiving we are giving you two weeks to join us in the challenge at Shopping Our Stash. The theme is “Free is Good” which means to use something on your card you got for free. It could be a prize you won, or something you found at your Mom’s place and brought it home because it looked useful, my hubby find single earrings on the beach with his metal detector and I quite often use them on a project.
IMG_2452
When House Mouse Designs was owned by Stampablities there was a Stamp of the month and at the Butterfly Moon (where I shop and take classes) had a monthly draw for the Stamp of The Month and I have won quite a few over the years. This was one of them, 2004 HMLR 1039 Jingle Buds. The embossing folder is Divine Swirls the first folder I ever bought. The flourish is part of a border die from Dee`s Distinctively. The flourish, border and scalloped rectangle is green glitter cardstock from the dollar store. I also put stickles on the green bells.
IMG_2453
Here you can see the glitter a bit better.
IMG_2454
I added some of the cut off of the flourish to the inside of the card, the sentiment is from Hero Arts called Think of Christmas C3203.

It’s Monday and a new challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad

Challenge #100 at the Cheerful Stamp Pad is to use digital paper and images. The sponsor is Coosty Creations at Stitchy Bear Outlet, they have some really beautiful background digi papers with images to match. I chose the poinsettia paper and image.
IMG_2457
I didn’t want to cover the beautiful paper up so I chose not to clutter the card up with ribbon, I just added some yellow rhinestones.
IMG_2458
I had a large enough piece of the paper to use some on the inside of the card as well.
Thanks for stopping by today and get your printer to do your work for you and print some background paper and join the challenge.

Challenge #178 Thanks or Thanksgiving

Looking for my Clear it Out post scroll down or click HERE

Wow this challenge couldn’t have come at a better time,  our neighbours dropped a lovely thinking of you card and a box of chocolates into our mailbox one day. I have been so busy I hadn’t made a card yet. (where are the extras when you need one?) I also needed to make it fairly simple of course because I was running close to the wire (again) Is there a procrastinators anonymous?
IMG_2449
One of our ladies at our last “get together” showed us how to make this card. The punch is retired from Stampin’ up but any punch that cuts a strip will work and there are lots out there. The sentiment was cut with spellbinders oval and the lacy oval is a Nellie Snellen die. I added the butterfly and rhinestones.
IMG_2450
Close up of the Butterfly
IMG_2451
The inside is finished with a plain white piece of cardstock and I have plans for a very short sentiment that we really appreciated their kindness.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will have time to join us for the Thanks/Thanksgiving challenge. Head over to the blog check our the rules and see what the rest of the team has made for your inspiration. Just click HERE.

Your Favourite type of Challenge~~~Anything Goes

Clear it Out Tuesday has a new challenge and the theme is Anything Goes and the Stash item is Anything Goes, so the choice is yours.  The sponsor for this challenge is Stitchy Bear Outlet, the image I used is from Floppy Latte.  Since Thanksgiving has been celebrated here in Canada I’m working on Christmas so have a look at what I’ve done for the challenge.
IMG_2446
One of my stash items is the pine branch stamp, I bought it at a used stamp sale, the ef is from the winter pack from cuttlebug. I used a scrap of gold glitter paper for the top of the ornament.
IMG_2447
I just had to show you the ho ho ho, I found pre- inked mini stamps at Winners a while back, There are 8 sentiments in the package. They are from Mason Row.
IMG_2448
Finishing the insides at the same time as I make the card has been one of the things I’m trying to do. This one is ready to be mailed when December arrives,
Thanks for stopping by today and you know you want to play along with us at Clear it Out Tuesday for the Anything Goes challenge.

IMG_2438
The Santa hat is from High Hopes stamps, which is a Canadian company, I coloured it and fussy cut it out and added white opal liquid pearls for the pompom and the fur trim. Patterned paper is from a DCWV Christmas/Winter pack and the wreath is a brad.
IMG_2439
Now isn’t that an attitude, lol.
IMG_2440
The wreath brad and sentiment from Stampin’ up.
IMG_2441
Finished inside and the sentiment is from Stampin’up

IMG_2435
I used an image from Bugaboo Designs  and it is Gus, don’t you just love the Gus and Stella digis, I do. I had some scraps laying around from another project and coloured with copics and the letters were cut with Cuttlebug alpha dies.
IMG_2436
Of course I had to give Gus some paper glaze on his glasses.
IMG_2437
Did you see this one coming? The sentiment came with the Gus digi as a set. Used a few more scraps on the inside.

SOS #177….NOT Ready for Christmas

Looking for my Clear it Out Post scroll down or click HERE
The team at Shopping Our Stash are NOT ready for Christmas but we challenge you to use a Christmas stamp/set for a NON Christmas project. Head over to the blog and check out what the rest of the design team has made for your inspiration.  I used a cute Stampendous  holiday themed stamp and it is one I have had for years. I do use it every year though. Here is the stamp and card for your viewing.
IMG_2428
Even the sentiment is one of the older stamps I have and if you saw the rubber side you would see how much it is loved.
IMG_2429
I inked just the cats and then used the Happy Birthday to You instead of Bearing gifts We Travel  Afar. The white metal dots are also out of my stash, I bought them when I was in the U.S. at least 5 years ago and I have been hoarding them until this challenge. Wow did I go out of my comfort zone on the colours of the card but the further away from Red/Green the better for this challenge.
IMG_2430
I even got the inside finished with the Top Note again.

Mr Linky will be open until Monday, November 17th, at 11:55 pm ET. Please limit your total number of challenges to 13, including ours.
Thanks for stopping by today and  it’s your turn to show us your non-Christmas project made with a Christmas Set/Stamp.

Challenge #53….Use Three of The Same…..

Well did it again….forgot to schedule a post so sorry for the delay but I have an excuse….making space in the basement for a new patio door of course if I hadn’t procrastinated doing that it would have been done.
Clear it Out Tuesday gals challenge you to use three of the same thing on your project, three of the same images, brads, rhinestones, ribbon, anything as long as it is three of the same. The sponsor is Stamp Art by Kathryne (Whimsy Stamps) Have a look at the great digis she has. to offer. I picked on one of her new Christmas images, wait till you see how sweet it is.
IMG_2423
Now how adorable is that little Christmas Owl in his perky Santa hat? So on one of my trips through Delhi ON I stopped at the little craft store and picked up a lot of different packages of brads, of course I have three or four different Christmas brads and these cute little hats were one of the packages.  I love plaid paper, you just don’t find a lot around either but picked  up some on sale at Winners and this was one of the designs. The spellbinders die I used is Fleur dis lis Motifs. For the hat and snow I used white opal liquid pearls.
IMG_2424
My three of the same thing I used.
IMG_2425
The sentiment base I used the Sizzix top note die I bought at a Stampin;up get together.
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have some time to join us at Clear it Out Tuesday for the challenge.

IMG_2426
Back to my favourite colours pink and gray, the patterned paper is from Wal-Mart and the sentiment is a one liner from Hero Arts, one of my first sentiment stamps. I purchased a lot of these one line stamps for all occasions. the shiny paper is from a long time ago from the dollar store.
IMG_2427

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful week.

Meljen’s Facebook Group Weekend challenge……

There was a freebie on Meljen’s facebook group to use for a challenge this weekend, it was adorable so I coloured the cute scarecrow up, looks more like a scarecrow turkey so that is how I coloured him. I used so many scraps up. The scalloped mat was cut and the outside piece used on the inside for the sentiment. the acorn paper was leftover from another challenge, the butterfly was a miss-cut from a project, all I had to do was fussy cut it close. Even the mat behind the acorns is just two narrow strips off the green I used inside.
IMG_2431
Stuff I used  for the card was  Kraft from recollections, Wild wasabi green, pumpkin pie for the pumpkin embossed layer and Bo bunny scrap of patterned paper, The butterfly was a left over from making 75 teabag holders for our TOPS Rally November 1st. The sketch was  Jessi’s sketch from Tuesday Sketches but it had closed by the time I finished the card.
IMG_2432
Close up of the super cute scarecrow turkey
IMG_2433
The beautiful Hero Arts butterfly, wish you could see the simmer spritzed on it, it just sparkles.
IMG_2434
Finished inside of the card, the sentiment is from a Quatros set from Hero Arts, one of the first sets I bought. There is 4 stamps in the set one for Spring, Summer Autumn and Winter. (you will see it soon)
I would like to enter this in a few challenges.

Shopping Our Stash #176~~Leaf Me Alone

Looking for my Clear it Out Tuesday post scroll down or click HERE

Okay I did it again!!! I shut the computer down early last night and went to bed early too. Shock to wake up and find my card didn’t post and imagine my surprise when I found out I never did the post.

Shopping Our Stash has an new challenge Leaf Me Alone (alternate un-be-LEAF-able) Use leaves on your project. this one is easy peasy, you can use some leftovers from your Thanksgiving and Halloween project. I used some vellum leaves I bought at a yard sale. The card I made was very easy and is “SHOCK” very CAS for me. Have a look….
IMG_2414
I made my own background, I saw a technique and thought I want to try that unfortunately I could not find it again so I have no idea who’s blog this was on. I cut two pieces of shiny cardstock and put one under a extra large zip lock bag just to use as a template for where I would scribble with my alcohol markers, when you have covered the bag covered template you spritz it with rubbing alcohol then put the second shiny cardstock piece down on it, you can go back and dot it on the plastic bag if there is a spot you think needs more, even spritz again. The bag wipes off with a paper towel and you can save it to use again. Burlap, leaves and a rub-on sentiment from SU that is at least 5 years old.
IMG_2415
close up of the leaves
IMG_2416
close up of the sentiment and the background
IMG_2417
Couldn’t decide what sentiment to use on the inside but  it’s ready when I figure out one. I quite often use computer generated verses for these type of cards.

Thanks for stopping by and have an “un-be-LEAF-able day!!!

Gearing Up For Winter at Clear it Out Tuesday

Halloween is over so time to put away those fall colours and get out the winter blues and Christmas reds/greens, of course in the U.S.A. you still have Thanksgiving to get through. I am really happy to be able to get out my happy colours, I am not a fall colour person so I am glad to move on. The challenge at Clear it Out Tuesday wants you to “Gear up for Winter” the Stash item is a Metal embellishment. The Sponsor for this challenge is a favourite of mine, Bugaboo Designs
IMG_2402.
Now who can go wrong with using the cutest little penguin with snowballs? I coloured him with alcohol markers and added stickles to his hat, snowballs and the snow. The sparkly “spare parts” are metal.
IMG_2403
A close up of the sparkles
IMG_2404
Finished inside of the card I used a  sentiment from a Stampin’up winter set. it just seems appropriate.

I would like to enter this in the November Anything Goes at Catch The Bug Challenge Blog.

Thanks for joining me today and if you have put away your fall colours and ready for winter I hope you will join the challenge.

Getting Ready for the Winter Olympics!!!

Well it certainly isn’t me….but my little house mouse friend is heading down the slopes toward Christmas. I had the image from House Mouse Designs already coloured and when I saw the challenge from the Jingle Belles I thought wow I can catch up with my Christmas cards, I am still wondering why it didn’t “clue” in earlier that I should have been doing their challenges all year. Now I hope I’m on track to getting my cards done.
IMG_2421
I didn’t want to clutter up the card with ribbon or other embellishments I wanted to keep it simple just one glittered snowflake and and simple sentiment.
IMG_2422
Another totally finished Christmas/Winter card in my stash.
I am entering this in the challenge at:
Jingle Belles Creature Feature….use a critter on your project
